Chapter 450 It Was a Scheme
Her vision got all fuzzy, and the face in front of her was just a blur surrounded by shadows, making her head spin.
Isabella tried to tough it out, and in a daze, she started talking, trying to calm the cleaning lady down.
Just like with Heather and Marcus, she didn't want them to worry or feel sorry for her, so she put on a brave face.
'Cause only by doing that could Isabella hold onto the last shred of her dignity.
"Glad you're okay," the cleaning lady let go of Isabella. "You're pregnant, so you gotta be careful. You don't look so hot. Where's your husband? Need me to call him for you?"
She thought, 'Pregnant? Husband?'
Those words hit Isabella like a ton of bricks.
A heart that had gone numb, once it felt pain, it hit like a tidal wave.
That sharp pain snapped Isabella back to reality.
Suddenly, Marcus's words came rushing back, but now they felt like knives.
That rainy night was all Sebastian's plan!
He wasn't some savior; he was a devil with a master plan!
It was Sebastian who made the Wallace family go bankrupt early, putting Janet in the hospital from the shock.
He stopped the Cooper family from helping, leaving her with no way out.
And Marcus didn't know his real motive, but she did.
In the original deal, Sebastian wanted a kid.
He wanted her to take Lynda's place and have a baby.
It was all a scam.
He used her as a pawn for Lynda, and he wanted her to be grateful.
From the very beginning, it was all fake.
So, was her feelings for Sebastian real or fake?
Without Sebastian's so-called rescue, without that love at first sight, would she have even fallen for him?
Isabella quickly headed for the back door, ignoring the calls behind her.
Her world fell apart in an instant.
Isabella burst out the back door, and the cold rain came pouring down on her.
Rainwater streamed down her cheeks, and she couldn't tell if it was rain or tears soaking her face.
Schemes, lies, deceit, contracts—these were the words swirling in Isabella's mind.
She laughed out loud, unable to find a single warm thought.
Isabella couldn't even think of anything that made her feel warm.
The babies?
Not anymore.
The two babies that were her joy and love were just part of the scheme.
Sebastian played her, the Wallace family, and messed with Janet, almost killing her, all for Lynda!
In other words, Sebastian ruined the Wallace family, causing their early bankruptcy, just to make Isabella have kids.
Isabella walked in the pouring rain, letting the cold water wash over her and seep into her skin.
Usually, Isabella was scared of catching a cold, worried it would hurt the babies, but now, she didn't care; she even thought a miscarriage might be a relief.
But that thought made her heartache even worse.
Isabella clutched her chest with her right hand; it hurt so much she couldn't walk, her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the ground.
The heavy rain mercilessly drenched her.
This scene was like déjà vu from a few months back.
The difference? Back then, Isabella was all frantic to save someone, but her heart didn't hurt.
Now, standing in the rain, Isabella kept laughing, her heart aching so bad it felt like someone had ripped it out.
Turned out, the one who brought her back to Willowbrook Estate that rainy night was Sebastian, a devil from the start, never changing.
From the get-go, Sebastian made her destroy her most prized dignity.
And now, it was still Sebastian hurting her, always him!
This time, he didn't just wreck her dignity; he shattered her feelings too.
Sebastian had always been playing her, treating her like a fool.
Isabella covered her face, warm tears falling into her palms.
She cried and then laughed, wondering what kind of devil she had fallen for!
If she had known this day would come, she would've rather been killed by Lynda back then!
Isabella's body curled up, her waist arched, and she trembled as she cried, "Why? Why am I still alive?"
If she were dead, she wouldn't know that Sebastian deceived her and hid things from her for Lynda.
She wouldn't know about this grand scheme!
"Why! Why!" Isabella clutched her chest, "Why did I fall for Sebastian!"
The sound of the pouring rain drowned out Isabella's choked questions.
Isabella cried, who could answer her? She couldn't even answer it herself.
Perhaps, without Sebastian's scheming, she would never have crossed paths with him, let alone fallen in love with him.
Since that was the case, she wouldn't love anymore.
It hurt too much, too damaging.
Time and again, when she held onto hope and offered her heart to him, he stomped on it.
Who would have the courage to continue?
Isabella didn't dare anymore.
Headlights shone directly at Isabella, followed by the sound of a car horn.
Isabella straightened up, lowered her head, and struggled to support herself.
She hadn't knelt for long, unlike before when she couldn't stand steadily.
But this blow was too great; Isabella felt like she was stepping on air, her legs weak, stumbling backward.
Samuel had been in the underground garage, arranging everything, planning to leave, when he accidentally saw someone kneeling by the roadside, crying.
He honked the horn, and when the person stood up, he noticed the figure looked like Isabella.
Samuel was surprised and quickly rushed out of the car.
Isabella's vision went black, and after stumbling, she couldn't stand steadily.
But as she fell backward, a pair of hands grabbed her arm in time and pulled her back.
"Mrs. Lawrence!" Samuel's voice was tense and concerned, "What are you doing here? Did something happen at the engagement party? Where's Mr. Lawrence?"
Isabella was so tired, too tired to open her eyes.
Her eyelids felt heavy, and she knew that if she closed her eyes, she wouldn't be able to open them again.
So she tried to open her eyes to see who was in front of her, but it was a great effort.
Then, Isabella vaguely felt her feet lift off the ground.
After that, she fell into darkness, knowing nothing of what happened next.
