Chapter 205 Three Chances, Yet You Choose Not to Be Honest
This plan was foolproof, there was no way it could trace back to her. Unless... unless Grace betrayed her and gave her up. But even so, she only suggested the idea and didn't participate in it, let alone plan any actions. She could still wriggle out of it with some sophistry.
"Be honest," Sebastian said, "I don't want us to argue."
"Why should we argue... Sebastian, we've known each other for so long, even if we have disagreements, we've never raised our voices."
Seeing her still playing dumb, Sebastian's patience was completely exhausted.
"Lynda," he looked at her, "I didn't expect you to do something like this. In my perception, you've never been a scheming person."
Lynda's eyes flashed with panic, "Sebastian, what have I done that you would... speak of me like this?"
"From the moment you walked in, I've given you three chances," Sebastian said, "Three times... and you've chosen not to be honest each time. Fine, Lynda, then it's up to me to make it clear."
He asked her three times, each time waiting for Lynda to answer him honestly, even if she admitted that she wanted to frame Isabella, he wouldn't do anything to her.
But Lynda avoided answering. Her eyes were darting around in panic, and her fingers were unconsciously curling and clenching...
These actions all signaled her unease and tension.
If she really didn't know anything, why would there be these micro-expressions and movements?
Sebastian's gaze was as sharp as a knife. "I wasn't sure if you were involved. But now, I'm certain."
"Sebastian, I..."
"From beginning to end, everything I've done was for you, for us. Isabella was just a stepping stone for you, a pawn sacrificed for you... She's already so humble; why can't you let her go?"
Lynda looked at him, "Sebastian, do you think I harmed her? Did I frame her? She and Marcus encountered thugs at Ivy Lane; the news was all over the place. What do you mean, I can't let her go?"
He asked lightly, "Am I wrong?"
Sebastian's tone was light. He sounded casual, like he was chatting about the weather, but his gaze was so sharp. Sometimes, it seemed like he could see through people's hearts.
Lynda was getting a little overwhelmed; she looked away, not daring to meet his gaze, "When she's in trouble, the first person you think of is me... Then let me ask you, what good does it do me if she and Marcus can't cut ties?"
"Some things don't need to be spelled out; we both know in our hearts."
"Do you think I set her up?"
Sebastian closed his eyes and pressed his forehead, "Lynda, without sufficient evidence, I wouldn't rashly come to question you. I never wanted to hurt you."
Lynda swayed.
How could he have evidence...
Yes, Sebastian had always been impeccable to her.
This time, he didn't even send a warning; he just came straight to question her, so he must have something solid.
He even asked her three times, but she dodged every time...
"You must find it strange." Sebastian dropped his hand, pulled at the corner of his mouth, and looked at her with a cold gaze, "Why would this matter, done by Grace, involve you?"
Lynda panicked and reached out to grab the hem of his clothes.
But... Sebastian avoided her.
"I've seen Isabella's phone."
Sometimes, Sebastian despised himself.
He was dark, selfish, and unscrupulous, using everything he could... Isabella was defenseless in front of him.
In order to create their encounter, to marry her, to get her pregnant, to divorce her smoothly, he had done countless things behind the scenes that couldn't see the light of day.
And now, he only wanted to do one thing—
Keep Isabella.
Lynda swallowed, "What... what did you see?"
Sebastian said lightly, "In her chat history with Amber, I saw a message. Do you know what it was?"
"A message?" Lynda's voice began to tremble, "What... what was it?"
"Amber told her that she saw you with Grace."
She was taken aback, "Amber?"
"Amber wouldn't lie, and she certainly wouldn't tell Isabella without reason that you and Grace met privately." Sebastian looked at her, "Lynda, tell me, why did you meet with Grace?"
"I... I... Can't I have a get-together with her?"
"Are you still trying to argue at this point? Grace pursued me, and you had several conflicts with her. Even after several years, you wouldn't just have a nice meal with her."
Lynda looked at him, "So just because I had a meal with Grace, you can conclude that I was involved?"
"Grace is arrogant, but not very clever. She couldn't come up with such a plan. But you could."
"So, in your mind, I am a woman capable of such."
"You've always been smart, Lynda," Sebastian replied, "But you used your intelligence in the wrong place. Grace came to me to admit her mistakes. Was that also your idea?"
Lynda fell silent.
Every word Sebastian said hit the nail on the head, without missing a bit.
She thought this nearly perfect plan would never be seen through.
She didn't expect... she lost so badly. She underestimated Sebastian, made a slip, and lost everything.
Sebastian finally said, "If I don't let Grace go, then you will come forward to protect her. Lynda, this is the deal and plan you two made, right?"
"Yes." Lynda gritted her teeth and nodded, "Things are as you said!"
Now that it had come to this, she could only admit it!
If she didn't admit it, things would get worse!
However, now she lost her place in Sebastian's heart, leaving a bad impression, but Isabella wouldn't be much better!
The ambiguous relationship between Marcus and Isabella was a fact!
Whether it was a lingering attachment or Marcus' unrequited love for Isabella, it would become a splinter in Sebastian's heart!
This splinter would always remain lodged there, causing fissures in Sebastian and Isabella's relationship.
As long as there were cracks, no matter how they were repaired, they would leave indelible traces.
Lynda thought she was sure to win, but things didn’t turn out that way. She ended up hurting herself almost as much as she hurt her enemy.
"Why?" Sebastian asked, "Tell me."
Lynda's tears flowed like a broken dam, "You come to ask me why?! Sebastian, you should ask yourself."
His eyebrows furrowed.
She answered through her tears, "I've always firmly believed that you love me, and I love you. With your efforts, we would end up together; all we needed to do was just bear some temporary hardships. So, I actively accepted treatment, wanting to recover soon and return to your side."
