Chapter 343 Loving Someone, Did You Have to Insist on It with Your Life

He cared about her and also about the baby, which was great.

If he knew they were twins, he must be ecstatic, right?

"Come here. I have good news to tell you." She lay in Sebastian's arms, overwhelmed by sleepiness, barely managing to spit out a few words.

"What?" Sebastian became slightly interested, withdrew his hand, and leaned his ear close to Isabella's lips.

After waiting for a while, all he could hear in his ear was her shallow and even breathing.

Helplessly, Sebastian pinched her cheek and, as a punishment, bit her nose lightly. She whimpered softly and immediately fell back asleep.

Sebastian's desire surged, and he did not know if he was punishing her or himself. He calmed down and smiled as he ran his fingers through her hair.

In the quiet room, the phone on the bedside table suddenly started buzzing.

Sebastian looked displeased, worried it might disturb her sleep. Sure enough, the eyelashes of the little woman in his arms twitched a bit. Gently patting her back to comfort her, he turned on his side, stretched his arm, and reached for the phone to reject the call.

Then, he held up the phone from a distance, woke up the screen, and looked at the missed call notification.

It was a call from the hospital.

Sebastian's blue eyes narrowed, his drowsiness vanished, and a chill ran down his spine. He slowly pulled his arm out from under Isabella's neck and got up.

After adjusting the temperature in the bedroom and tidying up the blanket for Isabella, he slowed his pace and headed to the dressing room.

Three or four minutes later, a black Rolls-Royce drove out of Willowbrook Estate towards the hospital.

On the way, Sebastian's face was cold and stern, and the nurse called again.

When he answered, a voice of pain and helplessness came through, "Sebastian, I am..."

"Get to the point!" Sebastian's voice was cold and impatient, not wanting to listen to her self-introduction.

"Sebastian, can you come to the hospital? Joshua is not doing well; he refuses the doctor's advice for a second round of chemotherapy. I can't persuade him; can you come and talk to him? Please." Nicole's voice choked up, crying breathlessly.

Sebastian didn't respond, hung up the call, and threw the phone on the passenger seat.

Sebastian stopped the car at the hospital entrance and strode into the hospital as soon as it stopped.

On the way to the hospital, his forehead throbbed, almost wanting to strangle Joshua once he entered the hospital.

But standing outside Joshua's ward, seeing Joshua lying on the bed looking haggard and in pain, Sebastian couldn't even bring himself to scold him, let alone lay a hand on him.

"You're here." Sebastian was about to open the door when a woman's voice came from behind.

He glanced sideways, his eyebrows furrowed.

Nicole looked very disheveled. Tears had already soaked her makeup.

She held a bowl of cereal in her hand and nervously handed it to Sebastian, "Sebastian, Joshua didn't eat anything tonight. He refused to eat what I brought. Can you help?"

A month or so ago, Sebastian had seen this person once in a coffee shop, where she arrogantly splashed a glass of orange juice on Brittany's face.

In just a few weeks, her arrogance had disappeared almost completely.

He took the bowl indifferently. "Okay."

"Sebastian," Nicole continued, "the doctor said Joshua should have chemotherapy in the next day or two, but he disagrees and wants to postpone it for three days. Engagements can be postponed, but what plans can't be changed? Does he have to insist on loving someone with his life?"

Her voice carried a hint of distress, confusion, resentment, and struggle, but more than anything, it was intense care and love.

Sebastian saw through it all, but it didn't move him.

No matter how much pain other women were in, it had nothing to do with him.

He said coldly, "In that case, move the engagement up to the day after tomorrow, complete the process, and Joshua will start the second round of chemotherapy immediately after. Tomorrow, have your father go to the Lawrence Group; the token they give you will be more than enough. Of course, if you don't want to get engaged, you still have the option to back out now."

Nicole shook her head, looking frantic. "No, it's impossible. I must get engaged."

Sebastian didn't say anything more, withdrew his cold gaze, pushed open the door to the ward, and entered.

Almost as soon as he stepped in, Joshua slowly opened his eyes. After not seeing him for a few days, he looked very haggard.

He propped himself up, barely sat up, and wearily smiled at Sebastian, "Do you have no nightlife? They asked you to come, and you came. You're not like yourself at all."

Sebastian placed the cereal on the bedside cabinet, his handsome face cold. "Tomorrow, settle your mess. Get engaged the day after tomorrow. After the second round of chemotherapy, you will go abroad for treatment."

Joshua's palm tightened, his brow furrowed as if he could crush a fly.

But before he could refuse, Sebastian interrupted in a stern voice, "Do you need a second option? Like contacting Brittany now?"

Outside the room, Nicole's pupils shrank, holding her breath, waiting for Joshua's response nervously.

Joshua didn't hesitate at all and closed his eyes resignedly.

After a while, he let out a painful and despairing laugh, "At least now I'm a patient. You're too harsh on me."

Sebastian remained silent, not in the mood for jokes.

Joshua glanced at Sebastian, his tone serious. "I locked someone up at the police station. I'll release him tomorrow night and lead him to Maple Valley No. 1. Also, call Brittany's parents."

Sebastian's temples throbbed incessantly; he lowered his voice and grabbed Joshua's shoulder, "Don't regret it."

"I won't regret it," Joshua chuckled lightly, "I will never regret it. I must fight for a perfect marriage for the one I love."

His eyes sparkled remarkably, full of affection. He looked at Sebastian but did not focus as if looking at someone else.

The oppressive atmosphere in the ward made Sebastian breathless, and it took him a while to say, "As you wish."

Outside the ward, Nicole felt relieved, leaning against the cold wall. She pressed the painful pit of her heart, tears silently streaming down her face.

In her life, she only envied Brittany and only hated Brittany.

Brittany occupied Joshua's entire heart. She couldn't squeeze in at all. How could Brittany not hate her?

What made her hate even more was that when Joshua was healthy, he promised marriage to Brittany.

Now that he was seriously ill, he was willing to push his true love away and let someone else give her a marriage.

In any case, Brittany's future was bright. After a brief period of pain, she would have a happy family with children and grandchildren.

And what about Nicole?

She was left with a marriage, no future, no love, and she didn't even know how long Joshua would live.

So painful, so humble, did she regret it?

Nicole asked herself.

The answer was no.

Like Joshua, she would never regret it.
