Chapter 108 Such a Braggart
"Yeah." Larry didn't deny it. He puffed out his chest and said, "Sue's Imperial Residence? That's mine. I can go there whenever I want. And Helen? I got her into the Epoch Group. Sue does whatever I say."
Chloe rolled her eyes at Larry. "Such a blowhard."
The Lewis Family members all looked at him with disdain. Larry was so full of himself.
Oscar suddenly chimed in, "So, according to you, Sue from the Epoch Group is your lackey, and the Free King who showed up at the Imperial Residence today was your guest?"
"Absolutely," Larry replied, looking Oscar in the eye.
"Such a blowhard," Oscar scoffed.
The rest of the Lewis Family looked displeased, too.
They didn't need to suck up to Larry anymore because it wasn't Larry who saved the Lewis Family from their crisis.
Helen was from the Martin Family and had nothing to do with Larry.
Larry was telling the truth, but the Lewis Family didn't buy it, and there was nothing he could do about it.
It wasn't that they didn't want to believe him. They just couldn't.
A son-in-law who came back from the military, a nobody in the Lewis Family, couldn't possibly have such connections.
If Larry had those kinds of connections, the Lewis Family would have been thriving long ago.
"Chloe, we really owe you this time. Handing over the family to you is the smartest move. I know you can lead us to greatness," Victor said, looking at Chloe. "But I have one more question."
"Go ahead, Grandpa."
Victor asked, "Ten years ago, who exactly did you save from the Bennett family?"
A lot had happened recently. Especially at Kelly's banquet, where several big shots stood up for Chloe. That scene stuck in Victor's mind.
Victor knew it was because of the person Chloe saved ten years ago. That was why these big shots respected Chloe so much. But Victor didn't know the full story.
The Lewis Family members all looked at Chloe, waiting for her answer.
"Well..." Chloe looked troubled and glanced at Larry.
Then, she said softly, "I don't know who he really was. He was burned beyond recognition at the time, so I couldn't identify him. But I know his other identity. He was the one who killed Frederick, took out the heads of the Four Great Families, and was executed by the Free King."
"Executed? Then why do these big shots still respect you so much?" Victor looked puzzled.
Harry said, "Dad, ten years ago, the Bennett family was the top family in Sunset City. Richard had a wide network of friends. It's reasonable for these people to help Chloe out of respect for the Bennett family."
"Makes sense," Victor nodded slightly.
Larry sat there, remaining silent.
Chloe thought of the masked man who had saved her and felt a bit lost, with a hint of sadness on her face.
The masked man had already been executed, and Chloe would never have the chance to see his true face and know who she had saved or who had saved her.
Soon, Helen called. "Chloe, Miss Cox agreed. It's at the Pavilion Restaurant, right? What time? I'll bring Miss Cox over. Miss Cox is very busy, but she will make time to meet you. You must not neglect Miss Cox this time, or even I won't be able to help the Lewis Family."
Chloe was overjoyed and said, "This afternoon at 6 PM, in the diamond private room at the Pavilion Restaurant."
"Okay, I'll inform Miss Cox."
Helen hung up the phone.
The Lewis Family members all looked happy.
The crisis was finally resolved. But then Victor frowned. "Chloe, the diamond private room at the Pavilion Restaurant? In Sunset City, very few people can book that room. Can we book it?"
Before Chloe could speak, her mother, Maria, said proudly, "You all don't know how capable Chloe is now. Last time we went to the Pavilion Restaurant, Mr. Harper personally gave Chloe a top-tier diamond membership card, with three free meals a month and a 90% discount on the rest."
"Really?"
"No way. Is Chloe really that capable now?"
"Even if the Bennett family was powerful once, they've been gone for ages. Why would these big shots be so nice to Chloe?"
"I bet Mr. Harper from the Pavilion Restaurant has a thing for Chloe."
Chloe's face turned red, and she quickly defended herself, "You guys, stop talking nonsense."
"Chloe, Samuel is from the Harper family in Aurora Citadel. If he likes you, that's a good thing. You should divorce Larry. He's useless, draining the family's funds, and all he does is brag."
The Lewis Family started urging Chloe to divorce Larry again.
Larry looked helpless. The Lewis Family never seemed to learn.
But Chloe glanced at Larry and said, "I'm Larry's wife. Even though there were misunderstandings before, they've been cleared up now. I'll give Larry another chance."
Hearing this, Larry felt a warm rush in his heart and couldn't help but hold Chloe's hand, "Chloe, you're so good to me."
"Alright," Victor stood up and said, "Since Chloe can book the diamond private room at the Pavilion Restaurant, let's go prepare gifts. We must get Miss Cox's forgiveness this time."
Chloe went to book the private room. Victor personally went to prepare the gifts.
Soon it was the afternoon. Larry wanted to join the meal too since the Pavilion Restaurant was the most luxurious spot in Sunset City with top-notch food.
However, the Lewis Family wouldn't let him. They were worried Larry would talk nonsense and offend Sue with his bragging.
So, Larry had no choice. The Lewis Family went to the Pavilion Restaurant, and Larry went home early.
Back at the house, Larry didn't sit on the sofa. He felt relaxed, "Solving these troubles is harder than fighting a war."
Larry stayed home for a few hours.
The door opened, and the family walked in, chatting and laughing.
"Helen, I didn't expect Miss Cox to be so forgiving. She let us off with just a meal, waiving thirty billion."
"Helen, how did you get a job at the Epoch Group so quickly? And you know someone as important as Miss Cox. You really make the Martin Family proud."
The family walked in, accompanied by Helen.
Because Helen stepped in and brought Sue, the Lewis Family's crisis was resolved. Now, the whole family was flattering Helen.
Helen smiled and said, "I came to Sunset City to look for a job. It just so happened that the Epoch Group was newly established and hiring a lot of people. I tried and met Miss Cox on the way. At that time, I didn't know she was the chairman of the Epoch Group. We just chatted casually, and when I went for the interview, I got hired."
Chloe laughed. "I thought it was really Larry who introduced you."
"Larry..." Helen paused and smiled, "Larry's just a loser. He couldn't possibly introduce me to a job, especially at the Epoch Group. He doesn't have that capability. But Chloe, there's really nothing between Larry and me."
"I believe you."
Larry stood up and smiled. "You're all back. Is everything resolved?"
Chloe nodded. "It's resolved."
Sam saw the table full of ash and immediately scolded, "Larry, who allowed you to smoke in the house? The table is full of ash."
Maria immediately put on a stern face and scolded, "Clean it up quickly."
"Alright." Larry didn't dare to complain and quickly cleaned up the ash around the ashtray on the table.
When Helen saw this, her mouth twitched.
The behind-the-scenes boss of NextGen City was being ordered around in the Lewis Family.
At this moment, Helen couldn't help but feel envious that Chloe had such good luck. She thought If she had saved Larry ten years ago, it would be great.
