Chapter 404 Actually, I Can
Larry lay on the bed, resting.
Soon, Chloe came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel with a pair of flip-flops on her feet.
She walked over to the bed, looking at Larry, who seemed deep in thought, a smile playing on her lips. "Hey, babe, how do I look?" she asked.
Hearing her, Larry turned to look.
Her hair was still damp from the shower, slightly messy but incredibly alluring.
Larry, being a normal guy, couldn't help but swallow hard at the sight. He joked, "Too bad my body's not up for it right now."
Chloe climbed into bed and snuggled up next to him, wrapping her arms around him. "You'll get better soon, I know it. By the way, I've noticed you've been reading a lot lately. Is that book from the underground cave? What's it about?"
"No, it's just a medical book. I'm trying to find a cure for the Gu poison, but I haven't had any luck so far."
Larry hadn't mentioned the second volume of the medical text to Chloe.
Chloe nodded, "Don't stress too much. You'll get there."
Larry closed his eyes and began to meditate, trying to clear his mind. Chloe was so captivating, and being so close to her, he could feel her body heat rising. To keep himself in check, he focused on meditating.
The night passed quietly.
The next morning, Chloe left early for Everjoy Corporation.
She had returned to the Lewis family and resumed her role at Everjoy Corporation. After spending so much time in the hospital, there was a lot of work waiting for her, and even though she wasn't fully recovered, she went to the office.
"Larry, breakfast is ready."
There was a knock on the door, and then Trinity walked in.
Trinity was dressed casually at home, in simple loungewear. She didn't look as stunning as usual, but there was a different kind of charm to her.
Larry was sitting cross-legged on the bed.
When Trinity walked in, he opened his eyes and suddenly raised his hand, creating a powerful suction force in his palm.
A cup on the table six feet away flew into his hand instantly.
Seeing this, Trinity's face lit up with joy. "Larry, did you do it?"
Larry exhaled deeply and smiled. "My Qi is getting stronger. I can now control it to create a powerful force."
After so much hard work, Larry could finally control his Qi and use it to generate strength.
His power now was much greater than before he started training.
However, his Qi was still too weak to completely eliminate the Gu poison in his body. He could only suppress it to prevent further damage.
Trinity beamed with a bright smile, her dimples showing. "With Qi, Larry will be saved. He won't have to die." She laughed innocently.
"Yeah," Larry nodded.
He took a deep breath and said, "I've finally overcome this hurdle. As long as I keep training, I'll eventually expel the Gu poison from my body."
"The Lewis family didn't call you for breakfast, so I made you some pasta. Do you want to eat downstairs or should I bring it up?"
"Bring it up. I can't stand seeing the Lewis family's faces."
"Alright." Trinity quickly went downstairs and brought up the freshly made pasta.
Larry ate the pasta, unable to help but praise, "This is really good."
Trinity was happy to be complimented, a smile she didn't even notice herself spreading across her face. After breakfast, Larry didn't stay at the Lewis family's house. He sat in his wheelchair, and Trinity pushed him outside to enjoy the scenery.
Outside, Trinity pushed the wheelchair.
"Larry, about you and Chloe..." Trinity started, but then hesitated.
"What do you want to ask?" Larry inquired.
"I, I..." Trinity blushed. Luckily, she was behind him, or she would have been mortified.
She had heard many rumors lately.
Rumors that Larry had been living with the Lewis family for a long time, but hadn't shared a bed with Chloe. She wanted to ask about it, but felt too embarrassed.
"Chloe has a great figure," she said indirectly. "If I were a man, I'd fall for her too."
"Trinity, just say what you want to say."
Larry didn't understand what Trinity was getting at.
Women's thoughts were the hardest to guess.
Trinity finally whispered, "People are saying you and Chloe haven't slept together. Is that true?"
"Yeah, it's true," Larry admitted.
"Oh." Trinity fell silent for about ten seconds before saying, "Actually, I, I can."
"Huh?" Larry was puzzled.
Can what?
Trinity blushed even more. "You're a man, and men have needs. If you and Chloe haven't... I can. We've already done it before, and I won't refuse you."
Larry fell silent.
Trinity panicked, "Larry, did I say something wrong?"
Larry sighed, "No, you didn't. The problem is me. I can't give you love, yet I keep you by my side."
"It's my choice," Trinity lowered her head.
At that moment, a man approached from a distance.
He wore a black jacket and a black baseball cap.
He walked over and sat on a nearby bench, lighting a cigarette. "You're living the good life now. I'm out there fighting for my life, and you're here relaxing."
His voice was low, but Larry's enhanced senses picked it up. He looked up.
Seeing the man, he told Trinity, "Push me over there."
"Okay." Trinity pushed Larry over.
Looking at the man, Larry asked, "So, any results?"
"Not here. Too many eyes. Meet me in the underground parking lot."
The man stood up, pulled his hat down, and walked away.
Once he was gone, Larry said, "Let's go to the underground parking lot."
"Alright." Trinity pushed Larry to the underground parking lot.
In a black sedan, the man took off his hat.
It was Alden.
Larry sat beside him.
Alden glanced at him, surprised. "You look much better. Have you cultivated Qi?"
Larry smiled faintly, "Did you find out what I asked you to investigate?"
Alden nodded.
