Chapter 162 Actually, I Was Just Pretending

The Martins had no knowledge of medicine and didn't understand what the flame needle meant.

This was an extremely advanced acupuncture technique. Even Ronin had only read about it in books and had never seen anyone use the flame needle to treat patients.

Ronin desperately hoped Larry would teach him. "Larry, I'm begging you, give me a chance, please."

This scene left the Martins dumbfounded.

Cassian, with a puzzled look on his face, asked, "Dr. Smith, what are you doing? You're a member of the Medicine Association. Why are you begging him for anything?"

"You don't understand," Ronin said coldly, "This is the flame needle, a legendary acupuncture technique. Even the renowned doctor Matthew from Sunset City might not know such an advanced technique."

Larry looked at Ronin, not expecting him to know so much. But he had no intention of teaching him and wasn't in the mood for it.

Larry scratched his head and laughed, "I've never heard of what you're talking about. I just knew Grandpa had a problem with his knee, so I thought of using alcohol to treat him."

Ronin was stunned. He stared at Larry. "Do you really not know about the flame needle?"

Larry asked, "What's the flame needle?"

Ronin had thought Larry was using the legendary acupuncture technique, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding. Using alcohol for acupuncture shocked him.

Larry, with an embarrassed look, said, "Actually, Chloe had told me about Grandpa's issue, so I searched online for treatment methods. Plus, I do know a bit about medicine, so I just showed off a bit in front of you."

"So that's how it is."

"I knew it. How could someone so young be a miracle doctor."

"I was beginning to think that there truly was a miracle doctor within the Lewis family."

The Martins suddenly understood.

Ronin, on the other hand, felt embarrassed. He had been too excited and begged Larry without figuring out the situation. Thinking back, it was really embarrassing.

He couldn't help but put on a stern expression and scold, "Larry, don't fake understanding if you don't get it. Be genuine and committed in your learning.."

"Yes, Dr. Smith, you're right." Larry nodded quickly.

And so, the matter came to an end.

The Martins gathered together and continued chatting.

Meanwhile, Chloe pulled Larry aside. She crossed her arms, scrutinizing him, and questioned, "Larry, you're really good at hiding things. Be honest, how many more secrets are you keeping from me?"

Everyone believed it was Chloe who told Larry. But only she knew she hadn't said anything and his online search was complete nonsense.

Larry chuckled. "Honey, what else could I have said? That I'm really a miracle doctor? Actually, my medical skills are just average. Using alcohol for acupuncture isn't a big deal, right?"

"True," Chloe nodded slightly.

Alcohol could burn, creating a flame needle, which made sense. But at that moment, she felt that the seemingly ordinary Larry was becoming more and more mysterious by the day. She felt he must be hiding many things from her. But since he didn't want to say anything, she didn't pry.

"My husband is not a nobody." Chloe felt happy. At least now she knew Larry really knew medicine, and his skills were definitely impressive that even a member of the Medical Association begged him to teach them.

She recalled some things Larry had said before. "Honey."

Larry looked at Chloe and asked, "What's up?"

"Do you think if you teach me medicine for half a month, I can succeed at the medical conference?"

Larry touched his nose and said, "I'm not really sure because I don't know the skills of those medicine doctors on Medical Street, nor do I know Dr. Rogers' skills. But getting into the top ten shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"Really?" Chloe's face lit up with joy. "Then teach me."

Seeing Chloe smile, Larry felt happy too. He couldn't remember the last time Chloe smiled at him. "Alright, when we get back to Sunset City tomorrow, I'll teach you. But you need to read some books first."

"Is it that hard?" Chloe instantly looked crestfallen. "Can I make it in half a month?"

Larry laughed. "Just spend ten days studying and understanding some basics. When the time comes, you can pretend to be skilled at the medical conference. Then I'll teach you some rare treatment methods. Once you use those at the conference, won't you amaze everyone?"

Larry whispered in her ear, "Actually, I don't really understand much. I just know the basics. Frank taught me some rare techniques, which is what surprised Ronin."

Hearing this, Chloe laughed. "You're so sneaky."

Larry laughed heartily.

Chloe rolled her eyes. "I thought you were really skilled, but it turns out you're just pretending to know and showing off."

Chloe looked at Larry. "But you diagnosed Grandpa's illness. How can that be pretending? You must really have skills. I knew it, you are not an ordinary person. When we get back, you should work at the Everlasting Group clinic. With your skills, the Everlasting Group clinic will definitely become famous on Medical Street."

Larry was immediately scared. He didn't want to go to work. "Chloe," he scratched his head, sounding hesitant.

"What do you want to say?"

Larry stammered, "First promise me you won't get mad before I say anything."

"I won't get mad, just say it."

"Actually, Helen told me about Grandpa's condition. I had already found out about the Martin family's situation to avoid embarrassing you. My medical skills are really average. If I were to treat patients, I'd probably end up killing someone."

"Really?" Chloe had a look of disbelief. "You've treated me twice, and last time at the Everjoy Clinic, you diagnosed so many people's illnesses. Was that a coincidence?"

"Chloe, I won't hide it from you. Treating you didn't require medical skills, just some ancient recipes. Frank gave me the recipes. As long as you follow the recipes, even someone who hasn't studied traditional Chinese medicine can make the medicine."

"Really?" Chloe looked at Larry, still skeptical.

"Yes." Larry nodded, then seeing Chloe's expression change, quickly said, "You said you wouldn't get mad."
