Chapter 114 The Everjoy Clinic Incident

At a bustling barbecue joint on Dragon Street, Larry ordered some barbecue and a few bottles of beer. He and Frank dug in, devouring the food and chugging beer. They spent half the day reminiscing about the past decade.

By around three or four in the afternoon, both of them were drunk. Just then, Larry's phone rang. It was Chloe calling. "Larry, where are you? Something's happened."

Hearing Chloe's anxious voice, Larry snapped to attention. "What happened? "

"The Lewis Family's Everjoy Clinic is in trouble. You need to come quickly."

"Okay, I'll be right there," Larry said, hanging up the phone.

Frank looked concerned. "Mr. Bennett, what's wrong?"

Larry shook his head. "No idea. Chloe said the Lewis Family's Everjoy Clinic is in trouble. I'll go check it out first."

"I'll drive you there," Frank offered, standing up.

"You should go home. You've drunk too much. Don't drive. I'll take a cab," Larry insisted.

Grabbing his suit, Larry quickly headed out and hailed a taxi. "To the Lewis Family's Everjoy Clinic," he told the driver.

"Alright," the driver replied, speeding towards the clinic.

Half an hour later, he arrived. Larry handed over a fifty-dollar bill and hurried out of the car. The Everjoy Clinic was located on the busiest street in Sunset City, Medical Street, a place with a rich cultural heritage spanning hundreds of years. The street was lined with hospitals, clinics, and even some famous doctors' residences.

The Lewis Family's Everjoy Clinic wasn't the most famous on Medical Street, but the Lewis Family's assets were worth billions, and the clinic was quite large, with three floors, each covering over ten thousand square feet.

A crowd had gathered in front of the clinic, shouting, "Incompetent doctor, incompetent doctor..." and "Shut down the Everjoy Clinic. Compensation."

Over a hundred people were holding banners and chanting slogans. Reporters from Sunset City TV were already on the scene.

"Good afternoon. This is the Sunset City Cultural Channel. I'm the reporter, Holly. I'm currently outside the Everjoy Clinic on Medical Street. As you can see, over a hundred people have gathered here. Let's interview some bystanders," Holly said, approaching a young man.

"Hello, I'm the reporter Holly. Do you know what happened here?" she asked.

The young man, seeing the beautiful and sexy reporter with a camera crew, perked up. "I just got here, but it looks like someone died at the Everjoy Clinic, and the family is here demanding an explanation."

Larry arrived just in time to see this scene. He pushed through the crowd to the entrance of the clinic, which was already closed. At the entrance, there was a stretcher with an elderly man lying on it, clearly lifeless. Some menacing individuals holding iron rods stood at the entrance, shouting for the Lewis Family to come out. The security guards were barely holding them back.

Larry approached the entrance. "What do you want?" a security guard holding an electric baton asked, pointing it at Larry.

"I'm Larry, the Lewis Family's son-in-law. My wife is Chloe, the chairwoman of Everjoy Company," Larry quickly explained.

"Oh, it's you. Go on in," the security guard said, finally letting him through.

Larry pushed the door open and walked in. In the lobby, many members of the Lewis Family were pacing anxiously. Larry walked over and asked, "What's going on?"

Chloe quickly approached, her voice trembling with tears. "We don't know either. Some people suddenly came to cause trouble today, claiming we caused a death and demanding compensation. The situation has escalated, and reporters are here. We had to temporarily close the clinic."

Victor was on the phone, trying to pull some strings to resolve the mess.

"Reeking of alcohol, what are you doing here? Aren't things chaotic enough?" Maria snapped at Larry, wrinkling her nose at the smell of booze.

"Dad, Grandpa, it's bad. More people have arrived outside, saying we gave the wrong medication at the Everjoy Clinic, causing problems," Oscar burst in, panic-stricken, and stumbled to the ground.

Everyone's expressions changed at the news.

"What happened?" Harry asked, bewildered. "The Everjoy Clinic has been run for over a decade without any incidents. What's going on? Quentin Franklin, you're in charge of the clinic. One incident is already bad enough, but how could there be so many?"

Harry looked at Quentin.

Quentin, in his sixties, dressed in a suit with long hair, looked equally puzzled. He was an experienced doctor, a member of the medical association, and a highly paid doctor hired by Everjoy Company to manage the clinic.

"I don't know either," Quentin said, shaking his head. He had managed the clinic for years without any incidents. The doctors were carefully selected, and the prescriptions should not have caused any deaths.

Chloe grabbed Larry's arm. "What should we do now?"

Larry waved his hand slightly, comforting her. "Don't panic. Closing the clinic won't solve the problem and will make us look guilty. Let's open the doors and address the issues face-to-face."

"Address the issues? How?" Oscar shouted. "Larry, are you trying to make things worse? You haven't seen how aggressive the people outside are. If we open the doors, they'll storm in and beat us."

"Exactly."

"We can't open the doors."

"Call the police."

"Calling the police won't help. This is a medical malpractice issue. I think we should just pay some compensation. If the Everjoy Clinic's reputation is ruined, no one will come in the future."

Everyone voiced their opinions.

Larry looked at Chloe and asked, "Chloe, you're the chairwoman of the Lewis Family and the person in charge. How do you think we should handle this?"

Chloe thought for a moment and said, "I think Larry is right. Keeping the doors closed isn't a solution. We need to open the doors and clarify the situation face-to-face. If it's truly our doctors' fault, we'll accept the punishment from the relevant authorities. If we need to pay compensation, we'll pay. If we need to close for rectification, we'll close."

"Chloe, are you crazy? It's obvious someone is targeting the Everjoy Clinic."

"Yeah, there's no way so many coincidences could happen at once."

"Chloe, we can't open the doors. If we do, they'll beat us."

The Lewis Family members all disagreed with opening the doors.

Larry, however, supported Chloe. Finally, someone in the Lewis Family had some sense; otherwise, they were doomed.

Larry looked at Chloe and said, "Open the doors. I'm here, and I'll help you."

Chloe took a deep breath and then walked towards the entrance.

Seeing this, the Lewis Family members all stepped back. They had seen how aggressive the people outside were. Before the doors were closed, many Lewis Family members had been beaten. If the doors were opened and the security guards couldn't hold them back, the situation would become severe.

The crowd outside was shouting aggressively. More and more people were gathering, many of them covered in bandages and with swollen faces, sitting at the entrance of the Everjoy Clinic, wailing loudly.

At this moment, the doors of the Everjoy Clinic opened. The beautiful Chloe stepped out.

"Compensation."

"Everjoy Company is a garbage company."

"This is the new chairwoman of the Lewis Family, Chloe."

"Chloe, I want you to pay with your life."

As soon as Chloe stepped out, the crowd outside lost control and rushed forward.

"What are you doing?" Larry stepped forward and shouted. His voice boomed like thunder, startling the agitated crowd at the entrance.

Larry walked over, standing in front of Chloe, and sternly said, "If you have something to say, say it one by one."
