Chapter 465 All Disappeared
Larry had been chilling on the second floor of Esmeralda's villa.
He came downstairs to grab a bite.
After eating, he headed back upstairs.
He sat cross-legged on the bed, started meditating, and began his training.
The night passed quietly.
The next morning, Larry made some calls to check for updates.
First, he called Free, then Matthew.
But neither the Underworld nor the Authorities could find any trace of the person who might be Richard.
Larry got dressed and went downstairs.
Esmeralda and Paisley were already up.
"Larry."
They both greeted him as he walked over.
Larry nodded and plopped down on the couch.
Paisley asked, "Any news from Free?"
Larry shook his head. "Nope, the person who took Trinity seems to have just vanished. Free used all their resources but couldn't find any clues or trace where the car that took Trinity went. It's like it disappeared into thin air."
"Don't worry," Paisley reassured him. "The more critical the situation, the calmer we need to be."
Just then, Larry's phone rang.
He looked at the caller ID: Sam.
He frowned, hesitated for a few seconds, then answered the call. "What's up? Something wrong?"
Sam's voice came through the phone. "Larry, is Chloe with you?"
"No, why?"
"She didn't come home last night. We thought she was with you. Her phone's off."
"What?"
Larry stood up abruptly. "She didn't come home all night?"
"Yeah, since she's not with you, never mind."
Sam hung up.
Paisley asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Larry sat back down. "The Lewis family called, asking if Chloe was with me. She didn't come home last night, and her phone's off."
He dialed Abigail's number.
Chloe and Abigail worked at the same company; maybe they were together last night.
Abigail's phone was unreachable.
Larry felt a sense of unease.
Seeing Larry's worried expression, Paisley asked again, "What's wrong now?"
"Abigail's phone is also unreachable. I think something's happened. I need to check Abigail's place. Esmeralda, can I borrow your car?"
Esmeralda immediately instructed, "Yorick, drive Larry."
"Yes."
Yorick nodded. "Mr. Bennett, I'll take you there."
Paisley stood up. "I'll go with you."
Larry nodded.
The three of them headed out.
Yorick drove Larry to Abigail's house.
They soon arrived at Abigail's villa.
The door was closed. Larry rang the doorbell, but there was no response.
Paisley said, "Looks like no one's home."
Larry pressed his hand against the lock and pushed hard.
The door swung open.
Larry walked in.
Paisley followed closely behind.
Yorick waited at the door.
The house was neat and spotless.
Larry went straight upstairs to Abigail's room. The door was closed. He knocked lightly, but there was no response.
He turned the doorknob.
The door wasn't locked and opened easily.
As soon as he entered, a faint fragrance filled the room.
The bed was neatly made. Larry walked over and touched the sheets; they were cold. No one had slept there last night.
Paisley glanced around the room. "Looks like she didn't come home last night."
"This is strange. Where could she have gone?" Larry's expression was serious. If only Abigail were missing, he wouldn't be so worried. But now Chloe was missing too.
"Let's check the office," Paisley suggested.
Larry nodded.
They headed out.
Yorick drove them to PaxGen Pharmaceuticals.
It was already 9 AM, and the company was open.
But Abigail and Chloe hadn't come to work.
There was an important meeting scheduled, and the company executives were waiting for Abigail. But after half an hour, she still hadn't arrived.
Outside PaxGen Pharmaceuticals, in a Bentley.
Larry massaged his temples. "Paisley, can you help me make sense of this?"
Paisley thought for a moment. "First Trinity, then Abigail and Chloe. This is definitely the work of the same person. Honestly, I'm confused about their intentions. It's not for money; otherwise, they'd have called you. It's not for revenge; otherwise, they wouldn't have taken them away."
Larry leaned back in the car seat.
His mind was a mess.
Paisley held his hand, trying to comfort him. "Don't worry. Let's go back and discuss it."
Larry's body stiffened at the touch.
Paisley noticed his reaction and awkwardly let go of his hand.
Larry snapped out of it and instructed, "Yorick, let's head back."
"Yes, sir."
Yorick drove them back.
They soon returned to Esmeralda's house.
As soon as they entered, Esmeralda asked, "Larry, Paisley, what's the situation? Did you find them?"
Larry shook his head slightly. "No one's home, no one's at the office, and their phones are off. It's like they vanished into thin air."
"What?"
Esmeralda was shocked. "What's going on?"
Larry didn't respond.
Paisley was silent too. She couldn't figure out the intentions of the person behind all this.
The room fell into a brief silence.
After a while, Paisley said, "With Abigail and Chloe missing, PaxGen Pharmaceuticals needs someone to manage it to keep the business running."
"We have someone." Larry realized and took out his phone, scrolling through his contacts to call Sue.
Sue was part of a former tomb-raiding crew that had stolen from Victor Veil's Tomb. After an incident in the tomb, she escaped with the key and eventually came to Sunset City with Kairo.
She met Larry and started working with him, secretly buying NextGen City.
The call connected quickly, and an excited voice came through. "Larry, you finally called me."
Larry gave Esmeralda's address and asked Sue to come over quickly.
"Okay."
Sue agreed without hesitation and hung up, heading over immediately.
Larry leaned back on the couch, closing his eyes, thinking about recent events.
From leaving Southwild to coming to Sunset City and joining the Lewis family.
The past few months flashed through his mind. He felt like a mysterious force had been orchestrating everything.
"Sue, could it be you?"
Larry murmured softly.
He was starting to suspect Sue.
