Chapter 126 Luxury Car and Villa
By the time Larry and Chloe finished their tour of Everlasting Group, it was already noon. They left together, with Larry riding an electric motorcycle and Chloe holding on tight.
"Larry, let's eat out today to celebrate," Chloe suggested, wrapping her arms around him.
The wind was strong, messing up Chloe's golden hair. She pressed her cheek against Larry's back to shield herself from the gusts.
"Sure," Larry agreed, happy with the idea. They hadn't had a meal alone together since they knew each other.
"How about Pavilion Restaurant?"
"No," Chloe shook her head. "Every time we go there, Samuel greets us personally. It makes me feel like some big shot."
Larry laughed. "You're impressive. Of course, Samuel wants to please you."
"No, it's not that. It's because..." Chloe hesitated.
"Because of what?"
"Nothing," Chloe shook her head. Some things were better left unsaid to avoid making Larry suspicious.
Larry smiled and didn't ask further.
Chloe said, "Slow down a bit, I need to call my mom and tell her that we won't be back for lunch."
Larry slowed down, and Chloe made a call.
"Mom, I won't be back for lunch. I'm going to get a loan to acquire Thomas's Everlasting Group."
Chloe made up an excuse because she didn't dare tell her family that Larry had a lot of money, let alone that it came from questionable sources.
After hanging up, Chloe reminded him, "Larry, don't talk about the money to outsiders. If word gets out, there will be rumors again. I'll say the money was borrowed from Kelly."
"I haven't told anyone. Actually, I'm afraid to use the money recklessly, fearing it might cause trouble if investigated. Luckily, no trouble has come up, so it seems this money is really a reward from my boss."
"I'm warning you, behave yourself from now on. If you don't want to work, I won't force you. Once the company is on track, we'll buy a house and move out. You can stay home, and I'll support you."
"That sounds perfect," Larry chuckled.
Larry and Chloe, chatting and laughing, came to a decent restaurant in the downtown area.
It was lunchtime, and the private rooms were all booked, so they had to sit in the main hall.
After ordering a few dishes, Chloe handed the menu to Larry. "See if there's anything else you want."
Larry smiled. "That's enough. We can't eat that much."
Chloe then handed the menu to the waiter and instructed, "Bring a bottle of wine."
Larry had acquired Everlasting Group, so she was in a good mood and planned to have a drink with him to celebrate.
Soon, the food was served. Larry and Chloe ate, drank, and chatted happily.
On the second floor, in a private room, a group of young people sat at the table. The leader was Justin Carter in a white tank top, wearing a thick gold chain and a Rolex, smoking a cigar.
From his seat, he could see Chloe in the main hall downstairs. He had been watching for a while.
In the private room, a man couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Carter, what are you looking at?"
Justin, holding a glass of red wine, looked at Chloe downstairs, chatting and laughing with Larry. "What a beauty. When did Sunset City get such a hot girl?"
Hearing this, many people followed his gaze.
A man immediately explained, "Mr. Carter, you just returned to the country, so you don't know. She's the recently famous Chloe, voted as the most beautiful woman in Sunset City by the media. The man with her should be her husband, Larry."
"Married?" Justin asked.
"Yes, but rumors say that Larry and Chloe haven't had sex yet. This was spread by Chloe's mother, Maria, who reportedly doesn't like Larry at all and is looking for a better match.
Mr. Carter, Chloe is a good one. She has good relationships with many big shots, like Leo from Legion Lord, Kelly from the Everlife Group, and even the famous doctor Matthew. This seems to be because Chloe saved someone ten years ago."
Justin had just returned to the country and didn't know the recent happenings in Sunset City. The people around him filled him in on the recent events, including the man with the ghost mask.
"The man with the ghost mask was saved by Chloe ten years ago. He is a descendant of the Bennett Family. Back then, Richard, the head of the Bennett Family, had good relationships with these big shots. It seems that the man with the ghost mask, before he died, instructed these people to take care of Chloe."
Hearing this, Justin drank a glass of wine, a smile appearing on his face.
"Chloe, such a beauty. I want her," Justin declared.
"Mr. Carter, I'll go call her over to have a drink with you first," one of his fellows offered.
Justin shot him a look that made him shut up immediately. "You think I'm joking? I'm serious. I don't just want to fool around with her. I want to marry her. Waking up to see that face every day would be wonderful."
Justin was truly captivated by Chloe. He had seen many beautiful women abroad and, with his status, had been with all kinds of celebrities. But he was past the age of being a playboy.
"Chloe, you are mine," Justin said, reaching out towards her from afar, then clenching his fist and bringing it back to his chest, his face full of affection.
Chloe had no idea she was already on someone's mind. She had a bit of wine, her cheeks were flushed, and she looked very charming, making Larry infatuated.
'Gorgeous. What a stunner,' Larry thought, sitting across from Chloe, mesmerized by her rosy face holding a wine glass.
"What are you looking at?" Chloe teased, making a gesture as if to gouge out his eyes. "You see me every day. Haven't you had enough?"
Larry laughed. "I'll never have enough, even in a lifetime."
Chloe felt sweet inside and smiled. "I'm full. Let's take this opportunity to hang out."
"Okay," Larry nodded.
Justin was also mesmerized. Chloe's playful gesture was so graceful, deeply attracting him.
"Hurry, prepare a gift. I want to go to visit Chole's family," Justin couldn't hold back. Such a beautiful woman shouldn't be with a useless man. Only a genius like him could be worthy of Chloe. He quickly instructed someone to prepare a gift. "Remember, the gift should be expensive."
"Yes, Mr. Carter, I'll prepare it right away."
After leaving the restaurantl, Chloe and Larry went shopping and watch a movie. Meanwhile, Justin, with gifts in hand, went to Chole's home.
At Chole's home, there was a knock on the door. Maria went to answer it.
Seeing Justin in a white suit carrying some gifts, Maria was stunned. "Who are you looking for?"
"You must be Chloe's mother, Maria?" Justin asked gently.
"Yeah, I am. And you are?"
"Mrs. Lewis, hello, I'm Justin Carter. I came specifically to visit you."
"Come in," Maria said, a bit puzzled. ' Why is he looking for me?'
After entering, Justin took out the gifts. "Mrs. Lewis, this is a necklace I bought for you. It's not expensive, just three hundred thousand dollars. These are earrings, two hundred eighty thousand dollars..."
Justin took out many valuable gifts. Hearing the prices, Maria was dumbfounded. Sam, Mindy, and Scott were also stunned.
"No, I can't take them" Maria hurriedly refused.
Justin insisted, "Mrs. Lewis, please accept them. Actually I came for Chloe. The moment I saw her, I was captivated. By the way, you might not know my identity. I am from the Carter Family. My father is Timothy Carter, a director of the Five-State Business Alliance in Sunset City. The Carter Family is the only family in Sunset City within the Five-State Business Alliance. Our family assets are in the billions, but we are relatively low-key, not as famous as Legion Lord or the Everlife Group."
"What, billions of dollars in assets, the Carter Family?" Maria froze.
