Chapter 190 Infiltrating the Everlife Group
After Larry hit up Frank, he was just chillin' by the curb outside the hood.
About thirty minutes later, Frank finally rolled up. He lowered the window and hollered, "Larry, hop in!"
Larry strolled over and slid into the passenger seat, spotting Amelia in the back.
He didn't say much either.
Frank asked, "Larry, I saw the news too. Are the Four Great Families messin' with Chloe's company? You want me to call Southwild and get some backup?"
"Nah, no need," Larry waved him off.
Frank kept going, "Larry, even though you bounced, folks at Southwild still got your back. Just say the word, and they'll come runnin'. Plus, things are pretty shaky right now. How we gonna compete without a solid crew?"
As an observer in this mess, Frank started breaking it down clearly.
"NextGen City’s been bought, and the Epoch Group is up and running, but the company’s broke. I got over a billion in my account, but that’s peanuts for growing the Epoch Group."
"All the big players got their underground crews. We gotta build our own squad."
"Larry, just give the nod, and I'll sneak back to Southwild. I can pull in another trillion or two and some muscle."
Larry gave Frank a look, who was on point this time.
What was coming next was some serious business warfare.
The Business Growth Collective, the Five-State Business Alliance, the Prosperity Business Alliance, and a bunch of families from Aurora Citadel—they all had deep pockets and their own underground networks.
He thought for a sec and said, "Alright, the Epoch Group does need a ton of cash right now. Go back and figure out how to get some funds. Even though I’m not the Black Dragon anymore, you’re still a general. Shouldn’t be too hard to get some dough. Also, quietly bring over a few hundred pros; we need real experts. But keep it on the down-low."
"Got it." Frank nodded.
Switching from the battlefield to the business world was a huge leap. But it was thrilling.
Soon, they pulled up outside the Everlife Group building.
Frank turned around and told Amelia, "Stay in the car and don’t wander off."
"Okay." Amelia nodded like crazy.
Larry and Frank got out of the car together.
They both walked towards the Everlife Group building, puffing on cigarettes.
"Hold up, what are you guys doing here?"
Before they got close, a few security guards rolled up, pointing electric batons at Larry and Frank.
Larry smirked, "Go tell Kelly that Larry’s here."
"Larry, Black Dragon Larry or Chloe’s deadbeat husband Larry?"
The name Larry was already famous in Sunset City.
'Cause the Black Dragon was named Larry.
And the Lewis family’s son-in-law was also named Larry.
One of the guards laughed, "Do you even need to ask? You can tell he’s the deadbeat Larry just by looking at him."
"Deadbeat Larry, and you wanna see the chairman? Even if Black Dragon Larry showed up, he’d need an appointment."
The guards didn’t give Larry any respect.
Even if the Black Dragon came, so what?
Larry’s face stayed chill, "Huh? You better call Kelly. Otherwise, you won’t be able to handle the fallout."
"Threatening me?"
"I’m not letting you in today. What you gonna do about it?"
The guards looked at Larry and Frank like they were clowns, smirking.
Larry’s face darkened, his throat moved, "Hit 'em!"
As soon as the word "hit" was out, Frank sprang into action.
The guards were down in a flash, groaning in pain on the ground.
"Someone’s causing trouble, requesting backup."
The guard on the ground immediately grabbed his walkie-talkie, calling for reinforcements.
Just as he finished talking, his chest got stomped on.
Larry and Frank stepped over the downed guards and strolled into the Everlife Group building.
As soon as they got in, a swarm of security guards rushed at them.
"As long as you don't kill anyone, it's cool," Larry said, charging forward.
"Get 'em, take 'em down!"
Dozens of guards, armed with electric batons, came at them hard. The lead guy swung his baton at Larry's head.
Larry caught it mid-swing and countered with a punch to the guard's wrist. The guard screamed.
Then, Larry kicked him in the chest, sending him flying backward, crashing to the ground, groaning in pain.
Larry and Frank, seasoned fighters, easily mowed through the guards.
In less than a minute, all the guards were down.
Top floor.
Kelly's office.
A hot and flustered secretary rushed in, "Miss Moore, we got a situation. Some dude named Larry fought his way in and took out over a hundred guards."
"What?" Kelly's face went pale, and she jumped up.
The office door got kicked open, followed Larry and Frank.
Seeing them, Kelly's face got serious.
Larry walked in, plopped down on the sofa, and pulled out a cigarette. Frank lit it for him.
Larry's face was stone-cold. "Kelly, you got the nerve to mess with Chloe."
Kelly started sweating bullets. Remembering Larry wasn't the Black Dragon anymore, she relaxed a bit.
She crossed her arms and glared at Larry, her voice icy, "Larry, what do you want? This is Everlife Group. You wanna end up in jail for causing trouble?"
Larry suddenly stood up. A terrifying aura filled the room that made Kelly step back.
"You're not the Black Dragon anymore. You got no authority here. Leave now, or I'll call the cops."
"Call the cops?" Larry laughed. "Even though I'm not the Black Dragon anymore, you think the cops would dare arrest me? You know who this is beside me? He's a general from Southwild."
Hearing this, Kelly took a few more steps back. She stared at Larry, coldly said, "What do you want?"
Larry said, "Tomorrow, Chloe's coming to Everlife Pharmaceuticals to peacefully end the contract. You better not mess with her, or else—"
He raised his hand, showing a silver needle that flew out of his hand. Kelly only heard it whiz past her ear.
Larry turned and walked away. As he turned, a strand of hair fell from Kelly's head. Her face went pale with fear.
It wasn't until Larry left that she noticed the hair on the ground and took a deep breath.
"What terrifying strength. The rumors are true. The Black Dragon's power is unmatched, even a single silver needle can kill."
Kelly's chest heaved up and down. The Black Dragon's strength was too formidable, too terrifying. If Larry wanted to kill her, she'd already be dead.
After Larry left, a man walked in. Kelly snapped out of it and called, "Callum."
Callum walked over, glanced at the ground, and saw the long hair.
He squatted down, picked it up, and examined it closely, his expression growing serious.
"What terrifying wrist strength. Quick, accurate, and ruthless. A small silver needle is more terrifying than a gun."
"Callum, what should we do now?" Kelly wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Callum said, "Do as he says. Even though he's not the Black Dragon anymore, his strength is still terrifying. We can't afford to piss off other forces, and we can't push Larry too far. From now on, in Sunset City, don't act rashly or join any business associations without thinking. If there's something you can't decide, report it to the family immediately."
"Got it." Kelly nodded.
