Chapter 283 Amelia's Identity
Larry gave a faint smile.
He closed his eyes and ignored Abigail.
He had always been good at reading people, but he couldn't see through Abigail.
He had no idea what she was thinking.
She had been so seductive a moment ago.
Then she said she wouldn't compete with Chloe.
Fortunately, he had strong self-control and was loyal to Chloe, not wanting to fall for other women.
Otherwise, he might have succumbed to Abigail's temptation and really gone to a hotel with her.
It was good that Abigail was serious.
If she was just toying with him, it would be embarrassing.
He was once one of the Five Great Marshals of the Summer Nation, standing at the pinnacle of power, and now he was the behind-the-scenes boss of the Epoch Group, Abigail's superior. How could he afford to lose face like that?
He hadn't slept at all last night.
He closed his eyes, and sleep quickly overtook him, pulling him into a dream.
Abigail drove to the underground parking lot of the Epoch Group building.
She parked the car and saw that Larry was already asleep, not wanting to disturb him.
She just watched Larry sleeping in the seat.
Larry wasn't particularly handsome, even a bit ordinary, but the more Abigail looked at him, the more charming she found him.
Seeing Larry asleep with his eyes closed made her very excited.
She leaned over, couldn't help but kiss his face.
Just before her lips touched Larry's, he suddenly opened his eyes.
Their eyes met.
They stared at each other for several seconds.
Abigail suddenly felt a wave of panic, her face instantly turning red. She quickly moved away, took a deep breath, and nervously tidied her hair.
Larry looked at her, "What are you doing?"
"You had something on your face. I wanted to clean it off for you, nothing else. Don't overthink it," she said, blushing, and then got out of the car.
"Did I?"
Larry touched his face but found nothing, then got out of the car as well.
The two walked towards the elevator.
Abigail seemed like a child who had been naughty and got caught, very flustered, keeping her head down and not speaking.
Larry didn't say much either.
They walked in silence.
Abigail went to her office floor.
Larry went straight to the top floor, to the chairman's office, and fell asleep again on the sofa.
After Abigail got to her office, she couldn't focus on work.
She kept thinking about Larry.
"Abigail, what are you doing? What are you thinking about?"
She covered her head with her hands, looking dejected, and muttered to herself, "He's already married now. His wife is your good friend, Chloe. You can't have these thoughts."
She kept trying to comfort herself.
"Abigail, you've waited for him for ten years. So what if he's married? Happiness is something you have to fight for."
"No, what's meant to be yours will be yours. If it's not, no matter how hard you try, it won't be."
"If you don't try, how will you know if it's meant to be?"
Abigail was very conflicted, constantly talking to herself.
In the end, she was a mess, not knowing what to do.
Meanwhile, Larry slept soundly after eating.
When he woke up, it was already 7 PM.
He turned over and got up, feeling his pockets, but found nothing.
"Are you looking for a cigarette?" A voice came.
Larry looked over and saw a woman sitting in a nearby office chair, holding a pack of cigarettes and shaking it.
She was wearing a red dress with big red curls. It was a low-cut dress, with a rather low neckline.
"Abigail, what are you doing here?"
Larry got up, walked over, took the cigarette from her hand, pulled one out, lit it, looked at her, and said lightly, "This is the chairman's office, the chairman's workspace. You have some nerve. Do you want to become the chairman?"
Abigail smiled and said, "My ex-boyfriend is the boss of the Epoch Group. Whether I can become the chairman or not is up to you."
Larry looked at the time; it was already 7 PM.
"Work is over. Why haven't you gone home?"
"Waiting for you. I called Chloe and told her you had a meeting today and would be home late. It's still early. Come to my place. I live alone," Abigail said seductively, even crossing her legs, causing her dress to slide up and reveal her long, white legs.
"I'm not interested."
Larry turned and walked away.
After a few steps, he turned and said, "Remember to lock the door when you leave."
Abigail sat in the office chair, watching Larry leave, and smiled, "Even this can't tempt him. As expected of Black Dragon, his self-control is really strong."
"Larry."
As soon as Larry walked out of the office, he saw Sue.
Larry glanced at her and said flatly, "Who allowed you to let Abigail in? She's just a vice president; she has no right to enter the chairman's office. If a company wants to develop, it must have rules and regulations. Do I need to teach you such a simple principle?"
Sue didn't expect Larry to scold her.
She explained, "Larry, she said she was your ex-girlfriend, so I didn't dare to stop her."
"Remember, don't let her overstep her authority."
Larry turned and walked away.
Abigail had gone too far; her actions had already exceeded her authority.
"Okay, I understand," Sue called out.
But Larry had already walked away.
Abigail came out at this moment.
Sue glanced at her.
Before she could speak, Abigail said, "No need to say anything, I know. It won't happen again."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Sue looked innocent.
She was the nominal chairman of the Epoch Group, while Abigail was just a vice president. How did their roles get reversed?
She innocently touched her nose.
"I really don't know what Larry is thinking."
Sue muttered to herself.
Abigail was Larry's ex-girlfriend, and Sue didn't doubt it.
If she wasn't, Larry wouldn't have made her the vice president directly.
She couldn't figure out what the relationship between Abigail and Larry was now.
After leaving the Epoch Group, Larry didn't go home.
He went to the military hospital to check on Frank.
Frank was recovering quickly and could now barely get out of bed and walk.
When he entered the ward, Amelia was helping him walk slowly.
His hand was on Amelia's shoulder, and Amelia was holding his waist, looking very intimate.
Larry walked in and saw this scene, and couldn't help but smile, "Frank, congratulations."
Frank looked up and saw Larry had come in, he couldn't help but ask, "Congratulations for what? I'm not even discharged yet."
"Congratulations on finding a girlfriend. You're no longer single."
Frank felt shy.
But his skin color was so dark that even if he blushed, it wouldn't show.
Amelia, however, smiled and said, "What girlfriend? Larry, you're overthinking it. I just saw he was alone with no one to take care of him, so I came to help."
Larry sat down, casually picked up an apple from the table, wiped it on his clothes a few times, and took a bite.
"Amelia, let me tell you, Frank is really a good guy—honest, simple, and loyal. But he's in his thirties and has never been in a relationship, so he doesn't know how to woo girls. If you date him, you need to be more understanding."
Amelia helped Frank sit down.
Frank looked embarrassed and said, "Larry, stop teasing me. It's really not what you think."
"By the way."
Larry, munching on the apple, looked at Amelia and asked, "What's your relationship with Chieftain?"
Larry had long suspected Amelia's identity.
He just hadn't asked.
Amelia was slightly surprised.
Larry looked at her and said, "The Summer Nation has Five Great Marshals: Southwild Black Dragon, Northern Chieftain, Free, Eastern Domain Barbarian King, and Alistair. Don't tell me you have nothing to do with Chieftain."
Frank also looked at Amelia.
Amelia tidied her long hair and smiled, "Larry, how did you know I have a connection with Chieftain?"
Larry, still munching on the apple, said, "Back then, Free requested a document from above to make Frank an instructor, and you recognized it as a military document. Also, your skills—I haven't seen you in action, but last time at CloudPharma, you said you were very skilled and demonstrated a few moves. From your demonstration, I felt something familiar."
Amelia looked surprised, "Just because of that?"
Larry nodded, "I once sparred with Chieftain and know his attack style. Plus, you share the same last name. Otherwise, do you think I would let someone with an unknown background stay with Frank and know so much?"
