Chapter 416 Destroy All Evidence

The deafening sound echoed through the air.

Immediately after, the ground shook violently, as if the world was ending.

Larry held Trinity tightly, leaping away swiftly to escape.

The others followed suit.

They were all skilled fighters, moving with impressive agility.

As they fled, the entrance to the base exploded, sending thick smoke billowing out.

Inside the base, explosions continued to erupt.

The blasts were intense, causing an entire mountain to collapse.

Eventually, the mountain crumbled completely.

Two miles away.

A few people stood on a hill, watching the mountain range collapse in the distance.

Larry's expression was serious as he said, "Looks like this underground research facility had other exits. After Alistair was rescued, they activated the self-destruct system, blowing up the base to destroy all evidence. With just the research data I have, it's gonna be tough to bring Alistair down. If I try to press charges, I might end up being counter-sued."

"What do we do now?" Alden asked, looking at Larry.

Larry shook his head slightly. "This was the best chance to kill Alistair, but he got away. Now it's a real battle. Once he recovers, he'll definitely come after me for revenge."

Larry was troubled.

A perfect opportunity had slipped away, allowing Alistair to escape.

If Alistair made it back to Aurora Citadel alive, killing him would become nearly impossible.

Charging into Aurora Citadel to kill Alistair would make Larry a wanted man, unable to move freely in the country.

They stayed put, waiting for Free to arrive.

Meanwhile, on a road outside another mountain, a black sedan sped along.

Dr. C was driving.

Alistair, barely conscious, sat in the passenger seat.

He had been struck by one of Larry's silver needles, which pierced his chest, but he wasn't dead.

Dr. C, being a medical doctor and a master of Gu techniques, had managed to keep Alistair alive for now. However, Alistair needed to get to a hospital quickly, or he would still die.

"Damn it."

Alistair sat in the passenger seat, clutching his chest, his face contorted in pain. He cursed bitterly, "I couldn't kill him this time. It'll be much harder to do it in the future."

"Enough complaining," Dr. C said as he drove. "You need to think about how to handle the aftermath. Larry managed to infiltrate the base, steal research data, and locate the domestic base. He definitely knows your plans and won't let this go."

Alistair's face darkened. "We have to abandon everything. Blow up all the bases to destroy the evidence, then start a new research facility abroad."

Alistair took out his phone and dialed a number, giving orders: "Backup the data, evacuate immediately, and activate the self-destruct system. Blow up all the research bases."

After the call, his face was filled with pain.

But the physical pain was nothing compared to the heartache.

Years of planning, now in ruins because of Larry.

"Larry..." Alistair gritted his teeth.

"You should think about how to explain this," Dr. C said calmly. "This is all on you, not me."

"I know. I'll handle it," Alistair said, closing his eyes to rest.

Back near the base, Larry and Alden waited until several helicopters arrived.

Free arrived with the military, frowning as he saw the collapsed mountain. "What happened?"

Larry explained, "The base had a self-destruct system. Alistair escaped and blew it up to destroy the evidence. Free, lock down all nearby cities. We can't let Alistair escape. If he makes it back to Aurora Citadel, killing him will be very difficult. If we intercept him, I can take him out quietly and rid the country of a menace."

"Got it."

Free nodded and issued orders: "Mobilize all military units. Lock down major airports and transportation hubs. Arrest any suspects."

Larry then took Free's helicopter back to Sunset City, heading to the military district.

Trinity was taken to the military hospital.

Larry stayed behind, using a computer to create a sketch of Dr. C.

Looking at the sketch, Larry nodded. "It's close. Make the eyebrows thicker."

Free immediately ordered, "Issue a wanted notice for this person."

After giving the order, Free looked at Larry and took a deep breath. "Larry, we're going after Alistair. Even though he ran a research base and created some bio-monsters, he's still a high-ranking official."

"I know," Larry said. "That's why he can't leave here alive. Arrest him, and I'll handle the rest. If he escapes, it'll be a real problem."

Larry understood the severe consequences if Alistair returned.

Alistair had to die.

That night, Larry stayed at the military base.

After locking down transportation, they began a thorough search starting from the research base.

But Dr. C and Alistair seemed to have vanished without a trace.

By morning, they still hadn't found them.

As dawn broke, Larry stood by the window, watching the sky lighten. He knew Alistair and Dr. C had likely escaped and were probably back at Aurora Citadel.

Footsteps approached from behind.

Larry turned to see Free walking over. "We didn't catch them. They must have found a way to escape."

"Yeah." Larry nodded slightly. "It's been all night. They should be at Aurora Citadel by now. Withdraw the troops."

Free said, "We just got word. Last night, there were explosions in several mountains across the country. It's causing a stir online, with people speculating about what happened."

Larry said, "Alistair must be destroying evidence. Those explosions were at research bases. I didn't expect him to be so decisive, abandoning years of work just like that."

Free asked, "What will you do next?"

Larry shook his head slightly.

With the research bases destroyed, there was no evidence left. The research data he had wasn't enough to convict Alistair.

Now that Alistair had destroyed all the bases, Larry was at a loss.

"We'll take it one step at a time."

Larry said softly, "At least we disrupted Alistair's plans. He'll definitely make a move soon. We just need to keep an eye on him."

Free said, "Trinity is awake."

"Okay, I'll go see her." Larry turned and headed to the military hospital.
