Chapter 450 Close Protection
Larry was ready to leave, and Cody didn't try to stop him.
Cody hadn't planned on protecting Larry at first. He didn't want to risk angering all the powerful factions and making enemies worldwide just for one person.
But now, Larry had unlocked his full potential, reaching a significant milestone in his abilities. Larry's future was limitless, and given time, he would at least become a formidable force.
Larry was now worth protecting.
Cody picked up his phone and called Amos.
The call connected quickly, and a sarcastic voice came through, "Well, if it isn't Mr. Bennett. What brings you to call me today?"
"Amos, I just want to tell you one thing—Larry is under my protection. From today onwards, Larry and the Bennett family are inseparable."
With that, Cody hung up the phone.
He then made several more calls.
He informed all the major factions, and his tone was unyielding.
Anyone who dared to touch Larry would be opposing the Bennett family and would face their full wrath.
Seeing Cody make call after call, Larry felt reassured.
After finishing his calls, Cody looked at Larry and reminded him, "Be careful on your way back. Even though I've made the calls, these people won't let you off that easily. They've trained many skilled fighters in secret. If they attack you in the shadows, the Bennett family might not be able to find out."
"Got it," Larry nodded. "I'll be careful."
Cody sighed, "For your sake, the Bennett family has made enemies worldwide. Don't let us down. The future of the Bennett family might depend on you."
He then turned to Paisley and instructed, "Paisley, go with Larry and protect him for a while."
"Me?" Paisley was taken aback.
She hadn't expected Cody to make such an arrangement.
"Yes," Cody nodded. "Larry's body has recovered, but his strength hasn't. You've reached the second level, so with you by his side, I'll feel more at ease."
"Understood," Paisley didn't dare to disobey, and she felt a bit pleased inside.
"Grandpa, that's not necessary," Larry frowned slightly.
Cody patted Larry's shoulder and said, "You've unlocked your full potential, and within three years, you'll reach the fifth level and aim for even higher. You also know our family's secret. The third generation of the Bennett family hasn't produced anyone outstanding. You're the future hope of the Bennett family, and I don't want anything to happen to you."
Larry didn't argue further.
Paisley was indeed a skilled fighter.
Even if he regained his strength, he wouldn't be a match for her. Having her protection would be a relief.
"You go ahead. I need to talk to Paisley for a moment."
"Okay."
Larry turned and left.
After he left, Paisley asked, "Grandpa, do you want me to follow him and keep an eye on him?"
Cody nodded, then shook his head.
"Grandpa, what do you mean?" Paisley was confused.
Cody explained, "The third generation of the Bennett family hasn't produced any exceptional talent. Larry is quite promising. I'm worried that after I'm gone, the Bennett family will have no one to lead and will fall into decline."
"Grandpa, do you want to groom him as the heir?"
Cody instructed, "Let's see how far he can go. Follow him, ensure his safety, and report his whereabouts to me. Also, find opportunities to uncover his secrets."
Paisley nodded, "Understood, I'll follow your orders."
"Go on."
Paisley turned and left.
Outside.
Larry waited for a bit.
Paisley came out and called, "Larry."
Larry asked, "What did he say to you?"
Paisley brushed her hair back and said, "Nothing much, just told me to protect you and make sure you don't get hurt. Grandpa values you highly now and is grooming you as the family heir."
"Is that so?"
Larry smiled indifferently.
He couldn't figure out Cody.
Just like he couldn't figure out Alden.
He made friends based on his instincts.
And his instincts told him Cody was unreliable.
This man was deep and unpredictable. Larry didn't know what he was thinking.
Moreover, the internal strife in the Bennett family thirty years ago and the massacre of his family ten years ago were Cody's doing. Larry had a lingering grudge.
He didn't know if, once he had the strength, he would kill Cody to avenge his family.
"Larry, what are you thinking?"
"Nothing, let's go."
Larry shook his head slightly and started walking.
Before they could leave the Bennett family estate, they were blocked.
Sirius stood in their way.
Accompanying him was a man about the same age as Sirius.
"Stop, where do you think you're going?"
Sirius blocked Larry's path.
The man in white robes looked at Paisley with a smile on his handsome face and called, "Paisley."
Paisley frowned slightly but still greeted, "Otto."
She then introduced, "Larry, this is Otto Morgan from the Morgan family."
Larry glanced at Otto but didn't say anything. He turned to Paisley and said calmly, "I'm heading back to Sunset City."
"Paisley, are you going with him?" Sirius asked, looking at Paisley.
Paisley nodded, "Yes, Grandpa instructed me to protect him."
"Hah!"
Sirius sneered, "Larry, you were once the Black Dragon, the commander of the million-strong Black Dragon Army. How did it come to this, needing a woman to protect you?"
"None of your business. Move, or get out of my way."
Sirius had caused him enough trouble, and Larry didn't hold back, speaking coldly.
"You're crippled, yet you still act tough..."
Sirius's face darkened. He raised his hand and pressed down on Larry's shoulder, shouting, "Kneel before me."
But Larry didn't budge.
"What?"
Sirius's expression changed.
He had heard that Larry had been crippled by the Powell family and was now a useless man.
Larry raised his hand and punched.
The punch landed on Sirius's chest, sending him flying several meters back. His face contorted in pain, and after a moment, he shouted, "Otto, teach this guy a lesson."
Otto was already displeased seeing Paisley with Larry.
But this was the Bennett family, and he couldn't act rashly.
With Sirius's command, he immediately responded, "Alright."
"What are you doing?"
Paisley stepped forward, blocking Larry, and stared at Otto, "Otto, Grandpa told me to protect him. If you attack him, are you forcing me to fight you?"
"Paisley, have you lost your mind?" Sirius shouted, pointing at her angrily, "If you protect Larry today, I'll kill you."
"Try it."
Paisley wasn't highly ranked in the Bennett family, but she was following Cody's orders this time, so she wasn't worried.
"Kid, are you so cowardly that you hide behind a woman? Are you even a man?" Otto's face darkened.
The more Paisley protected Larry, the more annoyed he felt.
If he didn't teach Larry a lesson today, how could he maintain his reputation in Aurora Citadel?
Everyone knew he was pursuing Paisley.
