Chapter 322 Hope You Don't Regret It
Alistair knew that within the territory of the Summer Nation, he couldn't kill Larry.
He also didn't have the strength to kill Larry.
He had thought about using Chloe to coerce Larry.
But after going through so much, he realized that Larry valued Chloe more than his own life. If something happened to Chloe, Larry would definitely go mad.
An enraged Black Dragon would have terrifying consequences.
Consequences so severe that he couldn't bear them.
There was only one way to kill Larry.
And that was to send Larry back to the border and have him die on the battlefield.
But the border was very peaceful now. To get Larry back there, the small countries at the border would have to start a war again, forcing the Black Dragon to return.
He lightly tapped his fingers on the table.
A rhythmic sound echoed in the room.
After a moment, Alistair spoke, "Let's stay quiet for now and not act rashly. I'll figure something out."
"Okay."
The few people nodded.
At this moment, the Lewis family.
Chloe didn't expect Larry to actually transfer a billion dollars.
To anyone, this was a huge fortune.
An ordinary person couldn't earn that much money even if they worked for ten lifetimes.
Even the Lewis family, after decades of effort, had a total asset of only a few hundred million dollars. At its peak, the Lewis family could only come up with one or two hundred million dollars in cash.
Now, Larry had given her a billion dollars just like that.
She felt dazed.
Remembering what Larry had said before, she felt that she had lost Larry forever. But this wasn't what she wanted. By breaking up with Larry, she had the right to pursue her own happiness.
"Chloe, how do you plan to spend this money?"
Maria looked at Chloe eagerly.
Chloe shook her head slightly.
She hadn't decided yet.
"What do you mean by shaking your head? Just tell me," Maria said anxiously. "A billion dollars is so much money. No matter how much you spend, you won't be able to use it all up in a lifetime. How about this, you give me some, and I'll help you manage it."
Maria started to scheme for the money.
She felt more at ease with the money in her own pocket.
"Mom, what about Larry?"
Chloe's mind was a mess, and she didn't know what to do.
"Him?"
Maria was slightly stunned, then her face showed disdain. "He already asked Xerxes for that billion dollars. Xerxes definitely won't give him any more money in the future. His value is just that billion dollars. Now that the billion dollars are in your account, he has no more use. If you ask me, you should break up and get a divorce."
"But he just gave me a billion dollars. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to divorce him now?" Chloe frowned. She also wanted a divorce, but felt it was unfair to Larry.
"What's inappropriate? Chloe, you're too naive. You're so beautiful and now so rich. How does he deserve you?"
Ever since Larry married into the Lewis family, Maria had never liked him.
Even now, after giving a billion dollars, she still didn't like Larry.
In her view, Larry was just lucky to have saved Xerxes' daughter, Esmeralda.
And Larry's luck was all because of Chloe. Without Chloe, Larry wouldn't have had such good luck and wouldn't have gotten that billion dollars.
"Call him now and tell him to go to the government office to get the divorce papers done."
Chloe hesitated slightly.
After thinking for a while, she also felt that dragging this out wasn't a solution. The sooner they divorced, the sooner she would be free.
After the divorce, she would have the right to pursue her own happiness.
If she pursued the Black Dragon without getting a divorce, it would be considered cheating, and she felt deeply guilty about that.
Chloe was thinking.
Between the Black Dragon and Larry, she still chose the Black Dragon.
Even though Larry had given her a billion dollars, Larry's place in her heart was far less than that of the Black Dragon.
She took out her phone and called Larry.
Sunset City, a certain bar.
It was afternoon.
The bar was relatively quiet in the afternoon.
Besides the staff, there were only a few customers.
Larry had drunk quite a bit.
But the more he drank, the clearer he became.
At this moment, his phone rang.
He picked up the phone on the table and saw that it was Chloe calling.
He answered the call.
"Larry, where are you?"
Chloe's voice came through the phone, but it was cold and emotionless. From her tone, Larry could even tell that Chloe's expression was devoid of any emotion.
"What's up? Do you need something?" Larry asked calmly.
"There are some things we should talk about in person. It's not convenient over the phone."
"Alright."
Larry didn't think much and agreed directly.
He also felt that if they were going to separate, they should handle the necessary paperwork.
"Where are you? I'll come find you."
Larry didn't know which bar he was in; he hadn't looked at the name when he came in.
He hung up the phone and sent a location via WhatsApp.
After receiving Larry's location, Chloe left and took a cab to get there.
About half an hour later, Chloe appeared at the bar.
She saw that there were dozens of beer bottles piled up in front of Larry, and he reeked of alcohol. She couldn't help but frown and said, "Look at you, what have you become?"
Although Larry had drunk a lot, he was very clear-headed, not the least bit drunk.
He looked up at the tall, stunningly beautiful woman in front of him, who seemed like a fairy stepping out of a painting. At this moment, his expression was dazed, and memories of ten years ago, when he was tied up and surrounded by flames, flashed in his mind.
"Don't be afraid, I'll save you."
That voice seemed to still echo in his mind.
He shook his head slightly to cast away those memories.
He had given Chloe a billion dollars, which he considered repayment for that kindness.
"Beautiful lady, how about sitting down for a drink?" Larry said with a smile, looking at Chloe.
Chloe pulled Larry up and said, "Come with me."
She forcibly dragged Larry out of the bar.
Outside the bar.
Chloe had a stern face and said, "Look at you now. If you were a bit more ambitious and excellent, I wouldn't be like this. Do you know what people say about you? They say you're a loser, a grown man with hands and feet, yet you married into the Lewis family. Any man with a bit of ambition wouldn't marry into the Lewis family."
Larry gave a self-deprecating smile.
"Chloe, don't you remember what you were like before? Who else would have married you besides me? Who else would have treated you so well?"
Chloe frowned.
Then, she took a deep breath.
She didn't want to think about those things.
All she knew now was that she had no feelings for Larry.
Her mind was full of Black Dragon.
Even though Black Dragon had Abigail, she couldn't forget him.
She had thought carefully over the past few days.
She wanted to forget Black Dragon and live a good life with Larry.
But she couldn't forget.
The thought of spending her life with a man she didn't love made her panic, and the idea of separating grew stronger.
Especially today, when she and Larry went to a jewelry store.
The people at the jewelry store asked her about Black Dragon.
Although she tried hard to explain that she and Black Dragon were just friends, not even friends.
But deep down, she wished it were true.
She hoped things were as people said, that she and Black Dragon were indeed a perfect couple.
"Larry, let's get a divorce."
Chloe looked at Larry and said seriously, "I'm very grateful for the care you've given me recently, but I really have no feelings for you. Let's not make this messy for everyone, okay?"
"Alright."
Larry didn't hesitate at all.
"Chloe, I agree, but I just hope you won't regret it later."
"I won't regret it," Chloe said firmly. "I know what I want and what I don't want. Being with you doesn't make me happy at all. I have the right to pursue my own happiness."
