Chapter 189 Nothing at All

Chloe arranged for someone to rent a warehouse and move the equipment while she personally went to Everlife Pharmaceuticals.

She had always had a good relationship with Kelly. She never had to make an appointment whenever she came to Everlife Pharmaceuticals.

Today, as soon as she arrived at the Everlife Pharmaceuticals building, she was stopped by security.

"What are you here for?" they demanded.

Chloe said, "I'm here to see Kelly."

"Do you have an appointment?"

"I'm Chloe."

"I know you're Chloe, but without an appointment, you need to leave."

Several security guards blocked the way, barring her entry.

Chloe felt helpless. She took out her phone and called Kelly.

On the top floor of Everlife Pharmaceuticals, in the chairman's office, Kelly was meeting with members of the Moore family from Aurora Citadel.

"Larry no longer has any value to the family without Black Dragon's name. There's no need to flatter him anymore."

Opposite Kelly sat a man in his thirties. He was Kelly's older brother, Callum Moore.

Kelly frowned slightly and said, "Callum, it's rumored that Black Dragon is highly capable. Even if he's no longer Black Dragon, he bought NextGen City, and he's also the chairman of the Serpent Group. Combined with all these factors, befriending him wouldn't do harm to the family, right?"

"What do you know?" Callum said, glancing at Kelly, "You've been away from Aurora Citadel for a long time and don't know the situation there. It's now divided into several factions, and none of them like Black Dragon because he stepped on too many toes. Everyone is excited about his resignation. Being friends with Larry means making enemies out of all of them."

At that moment, Kelly's phone rang.

She looked at the screen. It was Chloe.

"It's Chloe, the one who saved Black Dragon ten years ago, who also happens to be Black Dragon's wife. And I'm also curious to know why Larry presents himself to the public with a different face."

"Whether you see her or not is up to you. I'm just here to advise you. Also, several families in Aurora Citadel are planning to build a new city in the suburbs of Sunset City."

Callum then stood up and left.

Kelly answered the phone.

"Chloe, what's up?"

Chloe had been calling for a while and finally got through.

"Kelly, I'm outside Everlife Pharmaceuticals. I need to see you, but the security won't let me in."

Kelly thought for a moment and said, "Wait there, I'll send someone to get you."

Kelly hung up the phone.

Chloe patiently waited outside Everlife Pharmaceuticals. Soon, Kelly's secretary appeared and personally led Chloe inside.

In the past, no one at Everlife Pharmaceuticals would stop Chloe. Now, they were starting to block her way. She knew that the loss of her benefactor's support was the reason why Everlife Pharmaceuticals was beginning to distance itself from her.

Soon, she arrived at Kelly's office.

Kelly was sitting in her office chair, organizing documents. She didn't even look up. "I'm very busy. If you have something to say, say it quickly. If not, please leave."

Kelly's attitude was completely different from before.

Chloe walked over and said, "Miss Moore, I signed a lot of orders with your company previously, but now my company is having some issues and can't operate at our usual capacity. I'm here to terminate the contract."

Kelly finally put down the documents, looked up at Chloe, and said, "For matters related to contract termination, you should go to Everlife Group's legal department."

Chloe lightly bit her lip in embarrassment. She wanted to say something but didn't.

"Okay," she said, then turned and left.

She went to the legal department to terminate the contract. However, the manager was not there, so she had to leave empty-handed.

Next, she went to Legion Lord.

The situation was the same as at Everlife Pharmaceuticals.

Leo from Legion Lord was even more dismissive of her, with an attitude worse than Kelly's. He insisted that any contract termination must follow the contract terms with full-paid compensation.

Chloe failed at both Everlife Group and Legion Lord.

Her career had always gone smoothly. Now, however, she felt like she was constantly getting into trouble.

Only now did she deeply realize how incompetent she was.

Without Black Dragon, she was nothing.

She returned home, exhausted. Larry had already come back.

Seeing how listless and depressed Chloe was, he walked over and massaged her shoulders. "Honey, you've worked hard."

"Honey, am I useless?" Chloe asked.

"Of course not. My wife is the most capable person in the world."

Chloe started crying from disappointment and exhaustion.

"Honey, what's wrong? Don't cry. Tell me what's going on, and I'll help you," Larry said, comforting her.

"All along, it was Black Dragon helping me behind the scenes. Everyone knew it except for me. Now that Black Dragon has resigned and is no longer one of the Five Great Marshals, these big shots no longer respect him. I'm facing the biggest challenge of my life."

Chloe recounted her experiences of the day, from the appearance of Business Growth Collective to her visits to Everlife Group and Legion Lord.

As she spoke, she collapsed into Larry's arms and cried loudly.

Larry held her and comforted her. "It's okay. These tough times will pass. Life is never a bed of roses; we all have to go through ups and downs."

"Honey, what should I do now? Without Black Dragon's help, I'm nothing."

"Honey, there's only one opportunity now."

Chloe broke free from Larry's embrace, looked at him with tearful eyes, and asked, "What opportunity?"

Larry said, "The upcoming annual medical conference. As long as you win at the medical conference and make Global Nexus Group famous, you can succeed. In addition, you have two billion in your account, which is enough to start things over."

"But..." Chloe was not feeling confident at alland said, "This is a Sunset City event. With its reputation of being a  Pharma City and with so many skilled doctors, how can I succeed? On top of that, there are only eight days left until the medical conference."

"I believe in you. You can do it." Larry said, trying to encourage Chloe. "You don't have to do anything else. Just stay home and master the basics. Then I'll spend three days teaching you some skills. I guarantee you'll succeed at the medical conference."

"But I've signed contracts with Legion Lord and Everlife Pharmaceuticals. There are a lot of urgent company matters that I have to handle."

"Leave it to me."

Chloe looked at Larry, then sighed. "They don't even respect Black Dragon now. They're deliberately making things difficult for me. How can you manage? I'll go to Everlife Pharmaceuticals again tomorrow. If I can terminate the contract, I'll pay whatever compensation is needed."

"Alright, stop overthinking. Take a nap, and continue reading the medical books I gave you in the afternoon."

Larry pulled Chloe towards the bedroom.

Chloe was indeed a bit tired. In fact, she was exhausted.

She laid down.

Larry sat beside her, keeping watch.

He only got up and left the room after Chloe fell asleep, then went out the door.

'Legion Lord, Everlife Group, just because I'm no longer one of the Five Great Marshals and have resigned as Black Dragon, you think you can give my wife a hard time?'

His face was somber.

He took out his phone and called Frank.

"Come pick me up at Chloe's house. We're going to Everlife Pharmaceuticals and Legion Group."
