Chapter 380 You Wretch
Abigail hadn't been home for a while, and there was nothing to eat in the house. Plus, she wasn't much of a cook.
She decided to order takeout.
Meanwhile, Larry pulled out his phone and opened the map app, studying it closely.
After placing her order, Abigail couldn't help but glance over and ask, "What are you looking at?"
She was so close to Larry that their skin touched, and he could feel the warmth of her body.
They looked very intimate.
Larry said, "Ten years ago, after Chloe pulled me out of the fire, I jumped into the river and drifted downstream. Eventually, I ended up in an underground cave where I found a medical book."
"So that's how you learned medicine," Abigail said, understanding dawning on her.
Larry nodded and continued softly, "The cave was huge. I was starving at the time, so I only took the medical book and some silver needles. I believe there must be a way to cultivate Qi in that cave, but I can't pinpoint its exact location."
Larry closed his eyes as he spoke.
Back then, he had no idea how long he had drifted in the river or how he had entered the underground cave.
He couldn't remember where he had exited either.
All he knew was that after leaving the cave, he traveled south and ended up in Southwild, where he became a soldier.
He couldn't recall how long he had wandered before reaching Southwild.
Now, he couldn't determine the exact location of the underground cave.
Thinking about it made Larry's head hurt again.
It felt like countless bugs were gnawing at his brain, causing his face to contort in pain and making him cry out.
"I told you not to think about it," Abigail said, standing up and climbing onto the couch to sit behind Larry.
"Come on, lean against me. I'll give you a massage."
Larry leaned against her.
Abigail gently massaged his head.
The massage eased Larry's pain considerably.
"Do you really need to find that underground cave?" Abigail asked, her face showing concern. "Look at you. How can you go searching like this?"
"I have to find it. If I don't, I'll die. I don't want to die yet; I still have a lot to do," Larry said softly, his eyes closed. Though he was indifferent to life and death, he still had many things left unfinished.
He was poisoned with Gu.
Cultivating Qi was the only way he knew to detoxify himself.
As long as there was a chance, he had to try.
Abigail didn't say anything more and continued to massage Larry.
Larry closed his eyes and enjoyed the massage, eventually falling asleep.
As the Gu spread through his body, he developed more health issues. He was now easily hungry and tired.
Abigail gently moved Larry to lie on the couch and covered him with a blanket.
Larry slept for over an hour.
He woke up hungry.
As soon as he woke up, he smelled the delicious food, and his appetite surged.
He sat up on the couch and looked at the food on the table, smiling. "Smells great."
Abigail had prepared the food and started feeding Larry.
"I'm not so weak that I can't hold a fork. Give it to me; I'll eat myself," Larry said, taking the fork from Abigail and eating on his own.
Abigail picked up a fork and started eating while watching Larry.
As she watched, she sighed.
After the meal, Larry asked Abigail to buy some paper maps.
When Abigail returned with the maps, Larry began to speculate about the location of the underground cave.
The table was covered with maps, marked with various lines and circles.
After careful analysis, Larry took out a new map and drew a red circle on it.
"Did you find it?" Abigail asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Larry's face showed uncertainty. "Ten years ago, when the Bennett family was burned down, it was nighttime. I had just finished dinner. After jumping into the river, I passed out and woke up in the underground cave, feeling hungry. So I believe the cave isn't far from where the Bennett family was."
Larry pointed to a river on the map and said, "I drifted along this river. Based on the flow rate, the cave should be in this area."
Larry pointed to a mountain.
"When will you go?" Abigail asked.
"No rush. I'm not sure if it's here yet. I need to have someone check it out first. I'll call Free," Larry said, taking out his phone to call Free.
"Hey Larry, sorry I couldn't pick you up today. I've been swamped," Free said on the phone.
"No problem. Can you lend me some people?" Larry asked.
"What's up?"
"I need to find a place and need some skilled people."
"Sure, I'll have Howard go with you. If you need anything, just call him."
"Thanks."
"No need for thanks between us. Talk later, I'm busy."
Free hung up.
Larry called Howard next.
He asked Howard to arrange for dozens of agile soldiers to help him find the underground cave from ten years ago.
After making arrangements, he rested on the couch.
While Larry rested, Abigail studied the area Larry had marked on the map. She was deep in thought when the phone on the table rang. She picked it up and saw it was Chloe calling.
She frowned and muttered, "Why is Chloe calling now?"
Seeing that Larry was asleep, she took the phone outside and answered it at the door.
"Chloe, what's up?"
"Abigail, are you with Larry right now?" Chloe demanded.
Abigail hesitated. She wasn't sure if she should tell Chloe.
"Abigail, answer me!"
Abigail took a deep breath and said, "Yes, I'm with him."
"Are you together?"
Chloe sounded angry, her voice rising several decibels.
"Sort of."
Abigail didn't hide it.
It would be public knowledge sooner or later, and Larry and Chloe were already divorced. She wasn't breaking up a family.
"Abigail, I treated you so well, and you stole my man. I can't believe you're that kind of person," Chloe spat.
"Chloe, you and Larry are divorced. He's not your husband anymore. How am I stealing your man? I like him, I love him. He's single now, so why can't I pursue him?"
"Abigail, you bitch. You knew Larry was Black Dragon and didn't tell me. You kept pushing me to divorce him. Now I see your plan. I'm telling you, you and he will never be together. He's mine, and no one can take him away."
Abigail felt helpless hearing Chloe's words.
Chloe didn't understand Larry at all.
She was in love with Black Dragon, the war hero of Summer Nation.
