Chapter 198 A Hundred Thousand Troops in Pursuit
Black Dragon wasthe top dog in Southwild, the war god of the Summer Nation, running a massive army.
Perfect time to take him out cause Black Dragon just quit. This mission's all about taking down Black Dragon.
In addition toa bunch of international mercs and a squad of masters from twenty-eight countries, there was the twenty-eight-nation coalition.
Each of the twenty-eight small countries on the Southwild Border sent over three thousand troops, making a hundred thousand strong force to wipe out Black Dragon in one go.
They'll only send in the troops if the masters fail.
If the masters can't hack it, the hundred thousand troops from the twenty-eight nations will roll in.
Larry saw the fighter jets and bolted with Frank. Now he knew he’s gotta hide deep in the mountains to stay alive.
If he got spotted, those jets would rain hell on him. No matter how tough he was, he couldn't take on those jets.
Soon, choppers showed up in the sky. A chopper with a skull on it landed on the mountaintop.
A dude in a coat stepped out, looked at the bodies on the ground, and muttered, "No wonder it's Black Dragon, even the combined forces of twenty-eight nations couldn't take him down."
Then, he grabbed a walkie-talkie and ordered, "Black Dragon's gone. Lock down the mountain and search. Make sure he doesn't leave Cedar Grove alive."
"Yes, sir." With the order given, the coalition forces started combing the mountain. Drones filled the sky, scanning the whole mountain range.
At the same time, the coalition army moved into Cedar Grove, forming teams of ten to search the area.
The sun set. The sky got darker. In the thick forest, Larry hid in a natural cave. He knew if he showed himself, he was toast. If he was alone, he could probably break through the blockade. But with a badly injured and unconscious Frank, it was gonna be tough.
All he could do now was wait and buy time. He had told Idris that if he didn't come back by morning, the Black Dragon Army would head to Cedar Grove.
In the pitch-black cave, Frank lay on a rock. Larry sat beside him, lighting a cigarette. In the dark cave, there was a faint glow.
After finishing the cigarette, Larry quickly checked on Frank. Frank could die any minute in this condition. His face was serious. He was scared Frank wouldn't make it till morning.
Taking a deep breath, Larry started checking Frank's injuries. After getting captured, Frank had been through hell. He'd taken a nasty hit to the head. And he'd been shot. Larry quickly patched him up.
All he could do now was ease Frank's pain. To really save Frank, he'd need proper treatment and meds. But stuck in this mess, he couldn't give Frank the care he needed.
"Frank, I’ll get revenge for you."
Larry said, clenching his fists, "Whoever's behind this, they're gonna pay. Hang tight here while I lead the enemies away. Hold on till dawn—reinforcements will come, and I'll get you back to Sunset City."
Larry lugged Frank deeper into the cave, finding a hidden nook to stash him. Then he wiped out all traces and scents.
If the enemy used military dogs to track Frank, they'd be screwed. By erasing the scent, the dogs wouldn't be able to sniff him out. After doing all that, he bolted. He dove into the thick forest.
Having spent a decade in Southwild, he knew Cedar Grove like the back of his hand. Now, he had to draw all the enemies away; otherwise, Frank was toast.
In the dense forest, flashlights kept flickering. Larry moved forward while staying hidden.
After trekking for miles, he showed himself, took out a small team, and snagged a gun, some bullets, and a military bag.
"The fifth squad of Country X got ambushed, and everyone’s dead."
On the mountaintop, this was the command center.
Upon getting the report, the commander of the twenty-eight nations immediately barked orders, "Find them now. All units, head to where Country X's fifth squad got ambushed and search every inch. Don’t let anything slip through."
"Commander, Country X's squad was hit in Zone C."
"Get to Zone C now and lock it down."
The coalition soldiers got the order and quickly moved to Zone C. Meanwhile, Larry, after ambushing a squad and grabbing some gear, laid mines as he moved.
Soon, he saw helicopters with powerful searchlights scanning the area below.
Larry lay still in the grass, waiting for the chopper to buzz off. Once it was gone, he got up and quickly moved away. Before long, Larry saw several teams closing in.
He perched on a big tree, hidden among the thick branches. He pulled out a grenade.
The squad below slowly crept closer, constantly scanning the area.
Suddenly, a blast shattered the silence, and the squad was blown to bits.
Larry jumped to another tree, firing away, taking out another squad below.
After dealing with these squads, he hid again.
"Report, squads 34, 89, and 150 of Country G got ambushed at coordinates C-45."
The report hit the command center.
The commander immediately ordered, "Everyone nearby, head to that area and surround it. If Black Dragon escapes, you're all dead."
The nearby squads got the order and quickly moved to the battle site. Larry struck again, drawing the main force.
At this point, at least ten helicopters were scouring the area from above.
Larry knew he had to break through fast. Once the main force arrived and locked down the area, he’d be trapped.
He hid among the thick branches, waiting for the searchlights to move away, then leaped five or six meters from one tree to another like a monkey. He kept moving forward. Soon, he broke through the encirclement. At a cliff, Larry hid under a rock.
In the distance, dozens of helicopters flew by in turns, their blinding lights sweeping the area.
Larry stayed still. He was thinking about how to break through.
He realized it was gonna be tough, but he couldn't just hide. He had to keep moving, leading the army in circles.
Otherwise, once the main force surrounded him, he was a goner.
