Chapter 23 I Reserved the Diamond Private Room
Western Territory Free King, the commander of the Western Territory Army, was a figure of immense power, standing at the pinnacle of authority.
He walked over, exuding a powerful aura.
Outside Pavilion Restaurant, everyone held their breath.
This was the Free King, the new commander of the Five Armies.
They had only seen him on TV before, but now, seeing him in person, they were all intimidated by his presence, not daring to move.
Mark and a few security guards knelt on the ground, trembling.
She was sitting on the ground crying. When she saw the Free King approaching, she stopped crying and didn't dare to breathe loudly. She had seen the news and knew this was an even more terrifying figure than Frederick.
Jane was also scared, not daring to breathe loudly.
Everyone looked terrified except for Larry, who remained calm.
He had seen the Free King once before, during his appointment as commander.
The Free King walked over, his gaze resting on Larry, a look of shock flashing across his face. He was about to speak. But then he saw Larry's expression and immediately understood, glancing around and looking at Mark, who was kneeling on the ground and trembling. He asked indifferently, "What's going on?"
Mark said, "Nothing."
The Free King took one look at the scene and understood what was happening. He shouted, "In my jurisdiction, any troublemaking is strictly prohibited, or you will be severely punished. Get out."
"Yes." Mark didn't dare to stay, rolling away like a ball.
The other security guards did the same, rolling away.
At this moment, several jeeps drove up.
The Free King glanced at Larry, said nothing more, got into a jeep, and drove away.
After he left, everyone at Pavilion Restaurant relaxed.
"Is this the new Commander of the Five Armies?"
"What a strong presence. When he appeared, I felt like a stone was pressing on my chest, and I could hardly breathe."
"The Free King, commander of the Western Territory, and now the commander of the Five Armies, a figure at the top of the world, a true big shot."
"What a domineering man."
After the Free King's car drove away, the outside of Pavilion Restaurant became noisy again.
Jane didn't dare to trouble Larry anymore. Fortunately, the Free King didn't blame Jane, or the entire Johnson Family would have been doomed.
"Larry, Chloe, just you wait, this isn't over!" She left a harsh remark, didn't bother to eat, and walked away in embarrassment.
Chloe also came to her senses, looking at the departing jeep, slightly lost in thought, 'Is this the Free King from the news? Even more domineering than on TV.'
However, she couldn't have imagined that her husband was someone even the Free King couldn't compare to.
"You bastard, you don't dare to say anything. Marrying you is such a shame." Outside Pavilion Restaurant, Maria's scolding voice was heard again.
Scott was being pulled by the ear but didn't dare to say a word.
"Mom, there are so many people, don't bully Dad," Chloe couldn't help but say.
"It's all your fault, always offending people wherever you go. If the Free King hadn't come out just now, we would have been finished today." Maria raised her hand to slap him.
Larry directly reached out and caught her hand.
"You useless thing, dare you to stop me?" Maria was instantly furious and raised her hand to hit Larry on the head.
Larry didn't fight back.
Because no matter how wrong Maria was, she was still Chloe's mother.
He just didn't want Chloe to get hit. That was all.
"Mom, stop hitting." Chloe pulled Maria's hand, pleading.
Then, Sam walked over with Mindy, his face full of dissatisfaction. "Larry, you almost got us killed this time. Luckily, we were fortunate that the Free King was here eating and just finished, or you would have had your legs broken, and we would have been implicated."
"Really a troublemaker." Mindy looked at Chloe, whose bandages had just been removed, with disdain.
"Maria, enough, so many people are watching. Let's talk about this at home," Scott said cautiously.
However, Maria didn't care.
She had already lost all her dignity by kneeling to Jane earlier, so she didn't care anymore.
Maria started scolding again, "Now you know how to talk, but you didn't dare to say a word just now. Scott, marrying you was really my bad luck. I want a divorce!"
At the entrance of Pavilion Restaurant, a crowd had gathered. But these people didn't care about their family's quarrel and were discussing the Free King.
"In five days, it's the Free King's inauguration ceremony."
"Yes, I heard it's at the Sunset City military district. This time, the Free King's inauguration ceremony has opened some viewing seats to the public. It's said that only influential people in Sunset City can receive invitations."
"Yeah, I heard that only the truly elite and powerful have the privilege to attend the Free King's inauguration ceremony."
"Those who can go are the real high society of Sunset City."
A group of people gathered together, discussing the Free King.
Meanwhile, Larry sat on a chair outside Pavilion Restaurant, quietly smoking.
Maria had lost all her dignity for the sake of the family, even kneeling to Jane. After venting her anger, she felt much calmer.
"Maria, is that you? Are you here at Pavilion Restaurant for a meal too?" As Scott's family was waiting in line for their meal, a voice came.
Maria looked up to see a well-maintained woman, Holly Brown, holding the arm of a man dressed in a suit and tie, looking every bit the successful businessman. Behind them were a young man and a woman.
"Holly Brown?" Maria stood up, looking at the woman who looked like she was in her twenties, with a surprised expression. "Are you the Holly who used to sit behind me?"
"Yes, Maria, it's really you. It's been so many years, and you seem to be doing worse. You used to be the school beauty, how come you didn't marry into a wealthy family and still have to wait in line to eat at Pavilion Restaurant?" Holly looked at Maria, holding the man's arm, and said, "This is my husband, the chairman of the GoodPath Group, with assets worth millions of dollars. By the way, where does your husband work?"
Maria knew Holly was showing off.
She pulled Scott over and raised her head. "My husband Scott is from the Lewis family, owning ten percent of the Everjoy Company shares. The various industries of the Lewis family are worth billions of dollars, and my husband's net worth is in the tens of millions of dollars."
With Scott owning ten percent of the family shares, Maria felt confident, glancing sideways at Holly with increasing pride.
Holly looked surprised. "I couldn't tell, a shareholder of the Everjoy Company. But if he's a shareholder, why are you waiting in line to eat? Aren't you members? I get it, you're just bragging."
The man Holly was holding said, "Holly, I'm busy. There's a lot to do at the company. Let's eat quickly; I need to get back to work."
Seeing Maria's unnatural expression, Holly knew she was bragging.
Back in the day, Maria was the school beauty.
Holly looked good, too, but she could never outshine Maria.
Now, with a chance to show off, she wouldn't miss it.
Holly pulled over a pretty young woman. "This is my daughter, married into a wealthy family. Do you know the Wilson family? My daughter married into it."
The young man beside the girl raised his head proudly, holding her hand. "The Wilson family's assets aren't much, just a few billion dollars, ranking third among the four major families in Sunset City."
Hearing this, Maria lost her confidence and couldn't find any words.
She glared at Chloe, thinking, 'It's was all her fault, making me humiliatedher lose face in front of my classmates'
Chloe kept her head down, not daring to look at anyone.
"Maria, is this your daughter? Isn't this Chloe, the one reported in the news recently? I heard she married a loser who stays home cooking and rides an electric bike to pick her up from work. What, did Chloe get disfigured?" Finding a chance to hit Maria, Holly didn't let up, constantly belittling Chloe and Larry while praising her daughter and son-in-law.
Sam and Mindy, feeling inferior, said nothing.
Maria felt deeply hurt.
Even with Scott owning ten percent of the Everjoy Company shares, she still had no dignity.
She glared at Larry, who was sitting and smoking calmly, hating him deeply. It was this poor guy who made her lose her dignity.
Larry watched the scene, feeling helpless.
As Chloe's husband, he didn't want her to lose her dignity or her parents to be humiliated in front of others.
He immediately called Frank, "Book a diamond private room at Pavilion Restaurant under Chloe's name."
After making the call, he stood up, walked to Maria, and said, "Didn't we book a diamond private room? Let's go eat."
Hearing this, Holly burst into laughter. "A diamond private room, you're killing me."
Even Holly's husband looked disdainful. "Do you even know what a diamond private room at Pavilion Restaurant is? Stop bragging."
Holly's son-in-law Edward raised his head, looking at Larry with contempt. "I'm from the Wilson family and only a silver member, able to book a silver private room. A diamond private room, really? In all of Sunset City, there aren't many who can book a diamond private room."
