Chapter 149 The Women of the Lewis Family Are Terrifying

Edward finally breathed a sigh of relief after Chloe had accepted the money. If Chloe hadn't accepted it, he would have been beaten badly by Lord when he got back.

"Chloe, thank you for letting me off. I'll be leaving now." Edward didn't want to stay any longer.

Under Drake's astonished gaze, Edward was carried away by his subordinates. It wasn't until he left that Drake reacted, "What happened, Ms Lewis?"

Chloe waved her hand slightly and said, "Alright. You can go now. I'll deposit this money into the company account as expansion funds."

"Okay." Drake left with confusion, thinking, 'What is going on? Yesterday they sent people to cause trouble, and today they came to apologize and brought money.'

Chloe sat down. She was contemplating whether to go to the Serpent Group and thank Mr. Bennett in person.

As she was thinking, Drake walked in again. "Ms Lewis, you should check out the Sunset City Pharma City news channel."

Hearing this, Chloe turned on her computer to watch the Pharma City news channel.

"Good morning. This is Sunset City Pharma City news. Today, we have news about CloudPharma.

"What you're seeing now is CloudPharma's factory that has been razed to the ground. According to some eyewitnesses, three hundred excavators and thousands of people appeared here last night. It seems CloudPharma offended someone, leading to the factory being leveled.

"But this morning, CloudPharma issued a statement denying these allegations and cites the factory's weathered condition and the need to rebuild it."

Seeing on the news that CloudPharma's factory being razed to the ground, Chloe was momentarily stunned. Her mind went blank, and she didn't react for a long time.

After a while, she took a deep breath, pondering, 'Isn't this a bit too much? It is just a small conflict; there is no need to level CloudPharma to the ground, right? Mr. Bennett blew it out of proportion. No wonder Edward is covered in injuries and so fearful; so much had happened last night.'

"Ms Lewis, what exactly is going on? Who is helping the Everlasting Group?" Drake wasn't stupid. He could tell this wasn't about an old factory being rebuilt; it was forcibly razed. Considering Edward came to apologize covered in injuries, he thought of many things.

Chloe came to her senses, waved her hand slightly, and said, "Alright, it's nothing. You can go now. Just focus on your work."

Drake looked at Chloe. At that moment, he deeply realized the terrifying nature of this woman from the Lewis family.

"Okay." He nodded and turned to leave.

Chloe sat in her office, lost in thought. She started thinking about the mysterious Mr. Bennett again.

As for Larry, he went out early in the morning, saying he was going to look for a job.

The Lewis family had given up on him, thinking it was a waste of time to talk about him.

After leaving, Larry headed to the Epoch Group. He planned to find Sue and get a job at the Epoch Froup so that he would stop being an embarassment to Chloe.

Just as he reached the entrance of the Epoch Tower, he saw Abigail. She was wearing a red dress, had a tall figure, and was extremely beautiful, exuding the aura of a domineering CEO.

"Abigail?" Larry frowned and thought, 'What is she doing here? Didn't she just get hired as a vice president at the Serpent Group yesterday?'

Abigail did go to the Serpent Group for an interview, but her main purpose was to see the chairman of the Serpent Group and find out if he was her boyfriend from ten years ago. But she didn't get to see the chairman.

Today she went to the company to report. The first thing she wanted to do was see the chairman, but she still failed to meet with him. Since she couldn't see him, she didn't want to stay at the Serpent Group.

Although the Serpent Group was a big corporation and well-known in Sunset City, it was nothing compared to the Epoch Group. The real development and prospects laid with the Epoch Group.

She didn't let her personal feelings keep her at the Serpent Group. As for meeting the person, it would happen sooner or later. She had waited ten years, so she didn't mind waiting a bit longer.

The two walked towards each other, their eyes meeting.

Abigail immediately smiled, crossing her arms and looking at the casually dressed Larry. "Larry, what a coincidence meeting you again. What are you doing here?"

Larry smiled and said, "Didn't you go to the Serpent Group? Why are you here?"

Abigail's pretty face showed a hint of pride and arrogance. "Going to the Serpent Group is beneath me. After thinking it over, I still believe the Epoch Group has better prospects."

Larry squinted and said, "Are you that confident you'll get hired?"

"Of course." Abigail wasn't modest at all. "I got hired as a vice president at the Serpent Group with a monthly salary of four hundred dollars. At the Epoch Group, I can at least be a department manager, and I'm confident I'll become a vice president within three years."

As she spoke, she scrutinized Larry. "Are you here to look for a job at the Epoch Group too?"

Larry nodded and said, "Yes, Chloe said that if I don't have a job, it would embarrass her. So I thought I'd come to the Epoch Group and see if I could find a job as a security guard or driver. Working at the Epoch Group wouldn't be embarrassing, right?"

"True." Abigail nodded. "With your background as a retired soldier, you might barely qualify as a security guard. But that's about it, you'll never amount to anything."

Larry smiled and made a gesture. "After you."

Abigail put on her sunglasses, turned, and walked into the Epoch Tower.

After she entered, Larry followed.

Larry took the elevator straight to the top floor.

In the chairman's office, Larry sat in a soft chair, looking at Sue standing in front of him, and asked calmly, "Is there someone named Abigail here for an interview today?"

"Yes," Sue said, "Her qualifications are quite good. She was a vice president at a large corporation abroad. The interviewers are currently asking her various questions."

"Pull up the interview footage."

"Okay." Sue immediately went to arrange it.

Soon, the wall in front of the office lit up, showing the footage of Abigail's interview.

The interviewers were elites hired by Sue from abroad, and their questions were very tricky. But Abigail, with her rich experience, responded calmly. She analyzed many questions thoroughly and had unique insights, and the interviewers looked satisfied.

Larry watched the entire process. He didn't understand business or the intricacies involved. He only knew that Abigail was indeed impressive, answering questions crisply and clearly.

"Sue, do we have a candidate for the vice president position?" he asked.

Sue replied, "All departments are rapidly hiring, and most positions are filled. But the vice president position is still vacant. Although many experienced candidates have applied, the position is too crucial. The HR department is still screening, and we haven't found a suitable candidate yet."

Sue was not a businessperson. Fortunately, she had money. During this time, she had hired many business elites from large companies abroad, which stabilized the Epoch Group.

Larry pointed at Abigail on the screen and asked, "What do you think of her?"

Sue didn't quite understand what Larry meant. In terms of beauty and demeanor, Abigail was indeed outstanding. In terms of ability, just answering a few questions didn't reveal much.

"She's not bad," she answered tentatively.

Larry lightly tapped his fingers on the desk, thought for a moment, and said, "Let her try the vice president position. Give her a few months' trial. If she does well, confirm her. If not, replace her."

Larry might not understand business, but as the Black Dragon, he was good at judging people. Although Abigail looked down on him, she had a calm confidence and a drive to succeed.
