Chapter 122 The Everlasting Group

Larry was at his wit's end. Chloe's family was so unmotivated. They just wanted to enjoy the fruits of others' labor.

There was a knock on the door. Maria called out, "Sam, get the door."

Sam, not in the mood, glanced at Mindy beside him. "Mindy, you go."

Mindy, not wanting to move, looked at Larry. "Larry, you go."

In frustratation, Larry got up and opened the door.

Standing there was an elderly man in his seventies, dressed simply, holding a few bottles of good wine.

"You are?" Larry asked, confused.

"You must be Larry. I'm Thomas Lewis, Chloe's great-uncle."

"Come in." Larry led Thomas inside.

The Lewis Family's faces turned sullen as soon as they saw Thomas.

"What are you doing here?" Maria asked coldly.

"Maria." Thomas walked in, placing the bottles of wine on the table.

Maria said impatiently, "Take them away. We don't need them."

Seeing the strange expressions on their faces, Larry was puzzled.

When did Victor have a brother named Thomas, and why had Larry never seen him since he he joined the Lewis Family?

"Chloe." Thomas saw Chloe and looked at her pleadingly. "Chloe, I had no other choice but to come to you. You're now the chairwoman of Everjoy Company, holding great power. My factory is on the brink of bankruptcy, unable to take orders, and we owe over a million dollars in loans and salaries.

"Please, I'm begging you, for the sake of our family, help the Everlasting Group."

Chloe quickly stood up and said, "Grandpa Thomas, don't worry. Have a seat first."

"Chloe, what are you doing? Have you forgotten what Grandpa said? We are never to have any contact with Thomas." Sam stood up and scolded.

"Well..." Chloe looked troubled.

Chloe glanced at Thomas and said, "Thomas, I can't help you. Not only am I no longer the chairwoman of Everjoy Company, but even if I were, I wouldn't dare help you."

Hearing this, Thomas staggered back a few steps.

Thomas wouldn't have come to Chloe if he weren't desperate. In the end, he left in disappointment.

Larry asked, "Chloe, is Thomas really your great-uncle? Why have I never seen him before?"

Chloe whispered, "Yes, it's true, but over twenty years ago, he had a falling out with Grandpa and left Everjoy Company. Grandpa Thomas started the Everlasting Group factory. Back then, the conflict over dividing the family assets was intense. When they split, Grandpa said we should never have any contact with Grandpa Thomas. Over the years, Grandpa Thomas and our families have had no contact."

"I see." Larry hadn't expected the Lewis Family to have such a history.

Maria spoke up, "Alright, Chloe, don't pay any attention to it. If Grandpa finds out about this, he'll definitely be angry. You have no idea how fierce the arguments between them were back then."

After thinking for a moment, Larry said, "Chloe, I actually think this is a good opportunity."

Chloe looked at Larry.

Larry said, "I may not know much about Grandpa Thomas's Everlasting Group factory, but it must be a well-established factory with complete staff and equipment. It just needs some working capital and orders to get back on track. This would be much easier than starting from scratch."

Chloe guessed what he was thinking and was tempted. "You mean I should get some money and take over Grandpa Thomas's Everlasting Group?"

"Nonsense." Maria scolded. "The relationship between Thomas and Grandpa's families is terrible. If Grandpa finds out, he'll definitely take back our shares. Chloe, it's almost the end of the month, and dividends are coming. Don't do anything foolish."

Larry said, "Mom, are you still counting on Grandpa? With Harry's family around, it's only a matter of time before our shares are taken back. Listen to me, I'll figure out the money. The Lewis Family doesn't care about Chloe, so let's use our connections to start our own company."

Hearing this, Maria was tempted, too.

Sam said, "Larry, do you know how big the Everlasting Group is? Even though it's smaller than Everjoy Company, it's still a large factory. As Grandpa Thomas said, it's on the verge of bankruptcy, unable to take orders, and it owes over a million in loans. Taking it over won't be easy. And it's Grandpa Thomas's life's work. Even if you offer a lot of money, he might not let it go."

Scott nodded. "That's true, and do you even have the money?"

Larry shrugged. "It's just money. I'll figure it out."

Maria was intrigued. If they could gather the money to take over Thomas's Everlasting Group, with the existing staff and equipment, plus Chloe's connections with Legion Group and Everlife Pharmaceuticals, they could definitely get orders. This was much better than being looked down upon in the Lewis Family.

"Chloe, I'm on your side. I've been hating that stubborn Grandpa for a long time. If we can start our own company, let's do it. But I can only support you mentally. I can't come up with the money to help you," Maria said.

"Dad, what do you think?" Chloe looked at Scott.

Scott glanced at Maria and said, "I'll go with what your mom says."

The family discussed it and felt that instead of being bullied in the Lewis Family, it was better to break away and take a chance.

With her family's support, Chloe was instantly motivated. She grabbed Larry and eagerly said, "Let's go find Grandpa Thomas first."

Larry nodded.

Thomas had gone to Chloe's house, only to find out she was no longer the chairwoman of Everjoy Company.

After much consideration, Thomas decided to plead with Victor. He went to the Lewis Mansion. However, he was humiliated and eventually kicked out.

After discussing with her family, Chloe headed out. Just as they were about to go to Thomas's house, they saw him walking dejectedly from the direction of the Lewis Mansion.

Chloe grabbed Larry and quickly walked over. "Grandpa Thomas."

Thomas looked up at Chloe, his old face streaked with tears, looking dispirited. "Chloe."

Chloe asked, "Did you go to plead with Grandpa?"

Thomas sighed deeply. "Is the Everlasting Group really going bankrupt?"

Shaking his head helplessly, Thomas turned to leave.

Chloe called out, "Grandpa Thomas,I want to take over the Everlasting Group. What do you think?"

Thomas turned to look at Chloe. "You want to take over the Everlasting Group?"

Chloe nodded. "Name your price. If it's reasonable, I'll find a way to get the money and take over the Everlasting Group."

Thomas immediately scolded, "Chloe, are you in cahoots with Victor? Seeing the Everlasting Group in crisis, you want to take advantage and buy it cheaply? I'm telling you, it's impossible. Even if I go bankrupt, I won't give up my life's work achievements."

Larry said, "Grandpa Thomas, calm down and listen to us."

Chloe added, "Yes, we want to take over the Everlasting Group, but definitely not at a low price. You've heard about my connections with Legion Group and Everlife Pharmaceuticals. If I take over, the Everlasting Group will only get better. How about this? I'll give you twenty million dollars, and you transfer all the shares of the Everlasting Group to me. But don't worry. I promise you'll still be the factory manager."

"Really?" Thomas looked at Chloe in disbelief.

The Everlasting Group was in crisis and owed millions of dollars in debt.

Currently, the Everlasting Group wasn't worth much. The equipment in the factory was worth at most two million dollars.

Now Chloe was offering twenty million dollars to buy it and promised Thomas could continue as the factory manager.

Chloe nodded and said, "If you agree, not only will you continue as the factory manager, but I'll also give you 10% of the shares. When the Everlasting Group succeeds, you'll just wait for the dividends."

Thomas said, "Alright, I agree."
