Chapter 214 A Toothless Tiger

Larry had no clue that Chloe and Sam were already nabbed by Alexander.

He rolled up to the Carter Family's place, but it was a ghost town.

After some digging, he found out Justin was in the hospital with Timothy by his side.

Larry bolted to the hospital.

Outside the OR at Sunset City Hospital, Timothy was pacing like a madman.

In the distance, knowing Larry's rep was no joke and that he was already hitting back at the Lewis Family, there were bodyguards in black suits and shades on high alert.

Timothy was sweating bullets, thinking Larry might show up for round two, so he called in the muscle.

These bodyguards were no joke, each one could take on a dozen guys easy.

The OR door swung open, and out walked a middle-aged doc.

Timothy rushed over, "Dr. Johnson, how's he doing?"

Dr. Johnson pulled off his mask and sighed, "Mr. Carter's knee is toast. After surgery, he's looking at a three-year recovery, minimum. He won't be walking anytime soon."

"What?" Timothy's face went pale, "Three years?"

Dr. Johnson nodded. Timothy's face darkened, and he slammed his fist into the wall.

"Damn you, Larry. I'll make you payback a hundredfold for what Justin's going through." Timothy was fuming.

Back when Larry was Black Dragon, he used his clout to squeeze the Five-State Business Alliance, snagging NextGen City on the cheap, hitting the Carter Family hard.

He was Black Dragon, one of the Five Great Marshals.

The Five-State Business Alliance had to suck it up.

Now that he was out, they were itching to crush the Epoch Group and take it back.

But Timothy couldn't wait. He needed Larry to pay now.

He whipped out his phone and called Alexander, who answered all respectful.

Timothy's face was stone cold, "How'd it go?"

Alexander replied, "It's done. Chloe and Sam are at Willow Creek Lodge."

"Good." Timothy hung up, his face twisted with a killer look.

He didn't get to where he was by being a pushover.

Over the years, he'd kept a low profile, and folks had almost forgotten what he was capable of.

Soon, Justin was wheeled out of the OR.

Justin lay in the special ward, his limbs all wrapped up in plaster and bandages.

"Dad, I can't feel my limbs. Am I done for?" Justin's voice was shaky.

He was only twenty-seven, in his prime. The thought of a wheelchair for life was too much.

Timothy tried to soothe him, "Justin, chill. Modern medicine's crazy good. They can reattach limbs. Your injury's nothing. You'll bounce back. If not, I'll get you treated abroad."

"Dad, I want Larry dead. I want the Lewis Family wiped out," Justin growled.

"Justin, don't lose it. Larry's a dead man walking. The Five-State Business Alliance is already on it. They'll hit the Epoch Group soon. We gotta play it smart. Chloe and Sam are already in our hands."

"Dad, take me there. That bitch Chloe made me suffer. I want her to pay."

"Alright, let's head to Willow Creek Lodge now."

Justin's face was twisted with rage, "I want that bitch to suffer."

Timothy ordered his men to carry the freshly operated Justin and haul him to Willow Creek Lodge in the burbs.

At the same time, he made a call, "Use the Carter Family's pull to crush the Lewis Family. I want them bankrupt by nightfall, drowning in debt, begging on their knees before my son."

Larry rolled up to the Carter Family's crib, but it was a ghost town.

After some snooping, he found out Justin and Timothy were at the hospital. He raced over but was a step too late.

Couldn't find them again, so he hit up Grim Reaper.

"Well, if it ain't Black Dragon. What's the deal?" Grim Reaper's creepy laugh echoed through the phone.

Larry barked, "I need the Carter Family's location. Stat."

Grim Reaper sneered, "Larry, you ain't Black Dragon no more. You got no pull here. Don't come crying to me again."

Grim Reaper showed zero respect. He was in the info biz, and when Larry was Black Dragon, he was scared stiff. But now? Not so much.

Plus, Grim Reaper knew a lot of dirt. He knew plenty of folks wanted Larry six feet under.

Larry was barely keeping his head above water.

"Grim Reaper, fine." Larry hung up, ice-cold.

Even Grim Reaper thought he was a pushover now.

Larry had no clue where Justin and Timothy went, so he skipped Free and headed home.

Before he even got inside, he heard a ruckus.

He walked in and saw Victor in the living room, leaning on a cane, stomping it like crazy.

"Scott, Maria, do you know how much crap your useless son-in-law has dumped on the Lewis Family? All the big companies have ditched us. They even sued Everjoy Company over quality issues, and now Everjoy's shut down."

"We're bleeding cash and owe billions." Victor was fuming.

The Carters moved fast. In no time, the Lewis Family was feeling the heat.

Maria, Scott, and Mindy were on the couch, looking stressed. Chloe and Sam had been snatched.

Besides Victor, there were others like Harry, Jack, and more, all cursing out Scott's Family and Larry.

Larry walked in, catching all the nasty words.

"What's going on?" he said, his face dark, "What's the big deal?"

Everyone turned to look.

Victor swung his cane, cursing, "You useless piece of trash, always screwing things up for the Lewis Family. I'll beat you to death."

Larry blocked the cane with his hand.

Oscar jumped up, shouting, "You dare block? I'll kill you."

He tried to kick Larry, but Larry dodged, and Oscar fell flat.

Larry dropped Victor's cane and plopped down on the sofa. Not seeing Chloe, he asked, "Mom, where's Chloe?"

Maria's eyes were swollen from crying, her tears dried up.

She wailed, "It's all because of you, you useless piece of trash. If it weren't for you, the Lewis Family wouldn't be in this mess. Chloe and Sam were taken by Alexander's goons. They said to gather the money and go to Willow Creek Lodge before dark, or else they'll kill Chloe and Sam."

Larry's face turned stone cold.

"They're asking for it." He punched the glass table.

The table shattered into a million pieces, glass everywhere.

He stood up, looked at the Lewis Family, and said, "Stay put. Until I get back, no one goes anywhere. If something happens, don't say I didn't warn you."

With that, he turned and left.

The Lewis Family stared at the shattered table, stunned.
