Chapter 50 Larry's Proposal
Sam didn't dare say a word after being yelled at.
He hated Larry to death in his heart.
His mom wasn't like this before. She used to humble herself to beg for money, but now she wouldn't even take money given for free.
All of this changed because of Larry's arrival.
One dinner was ruined by the arrival of Harry's family.
After dinner, the family sat on the couch watching the replay of the Free King succession ceremony, while Larry went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
Sam approached Chloe and whispered, "Chloe, you should talk to Mom. This is money we're talking about. Do you know what 20% of the family shares means? And Grandpa said you can continue as the executive chairman. Do you know how much power that is? You have no idea how many benefits Harry has secretly gained over the years as the executive chairman. You know Oscar, right? He doesn't even work, but he drives a car worth over 200 thousand dollars."
Speaking of Oscar, Sam felt envious.
He thought, 'We are all part of the Lewis family, so why is there such a big difference?
'Now, we are about to become rich, but Mom has become so stubborn that she won't even take free money.'
Chloe didn't want the family relationship to become so strained either.
She understood Grandpa; he just liked being respected by others and dreamed of leading the Lewis family to glory.
Over the years, everyone in the Lewis family had been working towards Grandpa's goal.
Chloe said, "I'll go talk to Mom."
Sam said, "Chloe, you have to convince Mom."
"I'll try my best." Chloe got up and went to Maria. "Mom!"
Maria, who was watching TV intently, turned to look at her. "What's up?"
Chloe said, "Mom, don't you want to have dignity in front of your family? This is a great opportunity. Grandpa wants us back in the family and gave us so many shares. Plus, Grandpa wants me to continue as the executive chairman. If I become the executive chairman, you can speak proudly when you go back to your family."
Maria sighed softly. "Chloe, you should know what kind of person your grandpa is. He's generous now because he still needs you. When he doesn't need you anymore, he'll kick you out. The shares he's giving now will be taken back sooner or later."
"That's something to worry about later. We'll deal with it then," Chloe tried to persuade her.
As she spoke, she choked up. "Mom, I'm sorry. Over the years, I've made you lose your dignity and confidence in front of the family and outsiders."
"Chloe, don't blame yourself. Even without this issue, your grandpa wouldn't have treated your dad well. Your dad is just a weak guy who doesn't fight for anything, leading to his low status in the family. Other Lewis family members work at the Everjoy Company, buying cars and houses, while your dad still has a mortgage." Maria looked very disappointed in Scott.
Back in school, Scott was excellent in every way, but she never expected him to be so weak and incompetent. Even as a manager, he didn't know how to take a kickback.
Chloe said, "Mom, let's go back."
Larry came out with the washed dishes and heard this. He couldn't help but say, "Chloe, don't be in a hurry. Now the Lewis family needs you. Since your parents have had such a low status in the Lewis family all these years, let's take this opportunity to get everything back at once."
"Shut up, you bastard," Sam yelled angrily, "Larry, I warn you, this is our family matter. Stay out of it."
He had started to like Larry a bit because Larry got Maria to give him money to buy a car.
Now he hated Larry to death.
Larry sat down, lit a cigarette, and handed one to Scott, who was watching TV intently. "Have a smoke."
Scott took it, glanced at Maria, stood up, and went to the balcony to smoke.
Larry didn't care much, took a deep drag, and let the smoke spread around his nose.
He said calmly, "If we're going to fight for it, we should fight for more. Maria, listen to me. Next time they come, ask for 50% of the Lewis family shares. If they don't agree, we won't go back. If they agree, then we'll go back."
"Are you kidding?" Sam cursed, "Do you know how big the Lewis family's business is? Do you know how much 50% of the Lewis family shares are worth?"
Chloe also scolded, "Larry, stop causing trouble."
However, Maria straightened up and said, "I think Larry makes sense. If they're going to give, they should give 50%. I don't want to go back anyway. If they give 50%, then we can consider going back. Plus, in the future, our family will have the final say in the Lewis family."
Chloe said, "Mom, that's impossible. Grandpa won't agree."
Sam said, "Exactly, Mom, 20% is enough. Think about it, we can get over 200 thousand dollars a month in dividends. With Chloe's salary, we can buy a villa in less than a year."
Maria was also wavering.
Larry timely said, "Maria, you can't be soft-hearted. This is your best chance to take charge of the Lewis family. If you miss it, there won't be another chance."
Maria wasn't confident either and asked, "50%? Isn't that too much? Will Victor agree?"
Larry analyzed. "You know the status of Legion Lord in Sunset City, and Legion Lord is just one of the Evans family's groups in Aurora Citadel. Legion Lord alone is worth over a billion dollars. Imagine the entire Evans family.
"And the Lewis family? Altogether, it's only worth a little over a billion, mostly in fixed assets. Only by deeply cooperating with the Evans family can the Lewis family's assets grow rapidly. Victor may be stubborn, but he's not stupid."
He paused and continued, "You know the Trade Center, right? It's a high-end commercial and financial center, very hard for ordinary guys to get into. A small business like the Lewis family's company can't get into the Trade Center. But Victor has always wanted the Lewis family to become an elite family, so he will try everything to get into the Trade Center. Without the Evans family's support, he can't succeed.
"So, Victor wants Chloe to go back. Only if Chloe goes back to lead the Lewis family will the cooperation between the Lewis family and Legion Lord last long."
He analyzed the pros and cons one by one.
He made a lot of sense. Everyone believed him.
He added, "As long as Chloe continues to serve as the executive chairman of the Everjoy Company, the Lewis family will get more and more orders, and its assets will grow. Victor should be able to figure that out."
After hearing Larry's words, Maria made a decision. "Yes, we'll ask for 50%. Larry, you really are the hope of our family. If Scott had your intelligence, our family wouldn't have such a low status in the family."
Larry smiled faintly.
Sam threatened. "I hope your suggestion works. If we end up losing even the 20%, I won't let you off."
After threatening Larry, Sam smiled at Maria. "Mom, look, we're about to get 50% of the family shares. We're about to be rich. What about the car?"
Maria glared at Sam.
He looked at Larry, begging him to speak up.
Larry smiled faintly and said, "Mom, Sam is right. Our family does need a luxury car. When you go back to your family, driving a nice car will make others envious."
"That makes sense," Maria nodded and said, "We'll buy one. We'll go buy it tomorrow."
Sam looked at Larry gratefully.
He thought, 'Larry is somewhat useful after all.'
Larry just smiled faintly.
Chloe cared most about her family and valued their opinions.
He did all this just to make the family more harmonious.
He glanced at Chloe and saw a smile on her face that even she hadn't noticed.
It was a smile that came from the bottom of her heart, unconsciously showing her happiness.
As long as Chloe was happy, he would do anything.
