Chapter 131 The Luxurious Gifts
Benjamin, Terry, and the rest of the gang were taken away.
"Mr. Bennett," a police officer called out. He looked at Larry with respect and asked, "How should we investigate the Lewis Family?"
The officer, Xavier King, headed the professional crime investigation department. He knew Larry was the Lewis Family's son-in-law but wasn't aware of his other connections. Anyone who had Howard's respect was clearly important.
Larry wanted the Lewis Family investigated, but Xavier needed guidance. So he asked.
Larry replied, "Investigate thoroughly. Jail those who deserve it, and fine those who need to be fined."
"Got it," Xavier nodded. "Mr. Cruz, thanks for your help. I'll treat you to a meal sometime."
Larry waved it off and left.
Meanwhile, at the Lewis Mansion, several cars, including a small truck and a brand-new limited edition Ferrari, were parked outside.
Oscar saw the cars on the surveillance feed and was momentarily stunned. He went outside and saw people unloading boxes from the truck.
"Who are you?" Oscar asked.
Gary Diaz, looking sharp in a suit and tie, stepped forward. "Is this the Lewis Family?"
"Yes. What's going on?" Oscar was confused.
"Mr. Lewis, we're here to deliver gifts."
"Gifts?" Oscar was shocked and quickly invited them in. "Please, come in."
Inside, Oscar shouted, "Grandpa, someone brought gifts!"
Victor came down on his cane, accompanied by Julia and Stella, all looking puzzled.
Gary said, "Mr. Bennett asked us to deliver these."
With that, he pulled out a list and read, "Ten million dollars in cash, a limited edition Ferrari worth four million, a villa in Scenic Villas worth fifty million, jewelry worth eight million, and clothes worth eight hundred thousand."
The delivery guys started bringing in the boxes. Gary handed the list to a stunned Victor and said, "Mr. Lewis, please check the list and sign if everything's correct."
Gary then instructed his team to open the boxes, revealing brand-new bills, jewelry, and branded clothes.
Victor and the other Lewis Family members were all stunned. 'Which Mr. Bennett sent these?'
Victor asked Gary, "Who is Mr. Bennett, and who are these gifts for?"
Gary replied, "I don't know. I'm just here to deliver."
Victor signed the list, and Gary's team left.
Oscar first checked the money, pulling out a few bills. "Grandpa, this money is real."
Victor was still puzzled about who Mr. Bennett was and why he was so generous.
Oscar put down the money and said, "Grandpa, these gifts must be for a girl Mr. Bennett loves. The only unmarried ones in our family are Julia and Luna. Although both have boyfriends, neither of their boyfriends is named Bennett."
"Yeah," Victor nodded. "Those delivery guys didn't say who Mr. Bennett is or who they're for. Just sent the gifts."
"It must be for me," Julia exclaimed excitedly. "I'm way prettier than Luna. This mysterious Mr. Bennett must be into me, not Luna."
Victor thought, 'Among the unmarried women in the Lewis Family, Julia is indeed the most outstanding. It could be for her. But who is Mr. Bennett?'
Victor looked at Julia and asked, "Julia, do you know any wealthy Mr. Bennett? The only rich Bennetts in Sunset City were from the Bennett Family ten years ago. Other than that, I don't know any other Bennetts who could be this generous."
"No, I don't," Julia said, deep in thought. She couldn't think of any wealthy Mr. Bennett.
The Lewis Family members were all speculating about who the gifts were for and who this mysterious Mr. Bennett was.
Meanwhile, Larry, on his way home, got a call from Sue. "Mr. Bennett, the gifts have been delivered to the Lewis Family. Victor personally received them."
Larry frowned. "You delivered them to the Lewis Family mansion?"
Sue replied,"Yes."
Larry cursed, "Why did you deliver them there? I told you to deliver them to Chloe's house."
Sue panicked. "Mr. Bennett, don't be angry. I'll send someone to retrieve them and deliver them to the correct address immediately."
"Forget it," Larry said after a moment. "I'll take Chloe to get them."
Larry hung up. Delivering the gifts to the Lewis Mansion was okay. Taking Chloe and her family to retrieve the gifts would also show Chloe some dignity.
Plus, the professional crime investigation department was already involved in Chloe's matter and would soon arrest Harry and others. Taking Chloe along would also clear her name.
Thinking about Chloe's touched expression and the thought of her sleeping with him at night, Larry felt a surge of excitement.
At Chloe's home, Sam, who was playing on his phone, suddenly shouted, "Dad, Mom, someone delivered gifts to the Lewis Mansion."
Sam was chatting in the family group on WhatsApp. "Dad, Mom, look at the family group. Oscar posted about it—ten million dollars in cash, a limited edition Ferrari worth four million dollars, a mansion worth tens of millions, and a lot of jewelry and clothes."
"What?" Maria immediately picked up her phone and opened WhatsApp.
Scott and Mindy also opened WhatsApp.
In the group, Oscar's proud voice message came through. "See this? These are the gifts for my sister Julia. Without a net worth of billions, it's impossible to come up with such lavish gifts. How about it, are you envious?"
Seeing these gifts and hearing Oscar's proud voice, Maria frowned and murmured, "When did Julia meet a wealthy person? These gifts are indeed luxurious, almost worth half of the Lewis Family's assets."
"Mom, something's not right," Sam said. "How could Julia know a wealthy person? I think these gifts are for Chloe. They must be from Justin. Didn't Justin say at noon that the Carter Family's gifts would be worth at least a hundred million dollars? He said it at noon, and the gifts were delivered in the afternoon."
Maria slapped her thigh. "Yes, why didn't I think of that? These must be from Mr. Carter for Chloe, not for Julia. Let's go to the mansion and get what's ours."
"Mom, let's go," Sam stood up.
Maria looked at Scott, who was still sitting, and shouted, "Scott, what are you waiting for? Let's go." Scott finally reacted.
Maria and her family set off towards the Lewis Mansion.
