Chapter 205 Abigail's Idea
No matter how bad things got, the Lewis family had to figure out a way to fix this mess.
Forget the loan sharks for a sec, they still owed the Martinez family a whopping $500 million, and they needed to pay up fast.
Chloe's company account had $100 million she could tap into.
Plus, the villa Black Dragon gave them was worth over $300 million. Selling it for $300 million shouldn't be a problem. But they were still short $100 million.
Where the heck was she gonna find that kind of cash? Lost in thought, she ended up at The Serpent Group.
She wanted to track down the elusive Mr. Bennett, Larry.
But the internet was buzzing with rumors that Larry was in Southwild, fighting off masters from twenty-eight countries at the Cedar Grove border, surrounded by an army of 100,000 enemies.
Some said Black Dragon had either bailed or died in battle. She had no clue what was true. She was totally out of options.
After a moment of hesitation, she walked into The Serpent Group.
In the reception room, Chloe plopped down on the sofa. Sarah brought a towel and helped her dry her wet hair.
William asked, "Chloe, what's going on?"
"Is Larry here? I need to see him," Chloe asked, looking at William.
William replied, "The chairman's not here. You can tell me if something's up."
Chloe's throat tightened, but she couldn't bring herself to speak.
She needed to borrow money, but it was a huge amount, and she just couldn't say it.
She'd also heard that the Four Great Families had formed the Business Growth Collective and were gunning for The Serpent Group. Now, the company was in trouble too.
"It's nothing." She left The Serpent Group, looking a mess.
After she left, William pulled out his phone and called Larry. Larry had just finished surgery on Frank and was resting. Idris had bought him a new phone with a new SIM card.
Larry had just dozed off when Idris came over, woke him up, and said, "Commander, there's a call. It's been ringing non-stop."
Larry got up, "Hand it over."
Idris handed him the phone. It was William. Larry answered and asked, "William, what's up? Something happen in Sunset City?"
"Larry, nothing major. Chloe came to The Serpent Group looking for you. She seemed off, soaking wet, but didn't say anything."
"Okay, got it." Larry hung up. He checked the time, only 11:30 AM. He grabbed a cigarette from the table and lit it. Then he called Chloe.
Chloe was wandering the streets, aimlessly as her phone rang.
She pulled it out and saw it was Larry. "Hey babe, what's up?"
Larry said, "Chloe, I've been swamped with work these past few days. Just calling to let you know I'm okay. How's everything at home?"
"Everything's fine, nothing to worry about."
Chloe didn't say anything more. This was something Larry couldn't fix. He'd already given her all the money he had. Now she needed more.
"Babe, if something's wrong, you gotta tell me, okay? I can handle anything. I'll be done here soon and should be back in about ten days."
"Okay, just focus on your work. Everything's fine at home, don't worry." Chloe hung up.
After hanging up, she squatted on the ground and cried her heart out.
If her husband Larry had power and influence, then there wouldn't be any troubles. But her husband was useless, just a son-in-law.
After making the call, Larry felt a bit relieved. He chucked the phone onto the table and asked, "How's Frank holding up?"
Idris replied, "He's stable for now."
"Good, keep an eye on him. Let me know if anything changes."
"Will do."
"You can go now. I'm beat and need to catch some more Z's."
Idris nodded and left. Larry flopped back onto the bed, feeling completely wiped out.
Battling those masters from twenty-eight countries at Cedar Grove had drained him big time. Then he spent the whole night on the run, pushing himself to the brink.
After that, he did surgery on Frank, which took a whole day and night.
He hit the bed and was out like a light in less than a minute.
Meanwhile, Chloe was bawling her eyes out, but that wasn't gonna fix anything. She decided to find Abigail.
NextGen City, food street, at a new restaurant.
Abigail, looking sharp in a professional suit, had that mature woman vibe going on.
Seeing Chloe all drenched and looking like a mess, she frowned and asked, "Chloe, what's going on?"
"Abigail, I'm in deep trouble," Chloe sobbed.
"Spill it," Abigail said, sitting next to her and handing her a tissue. "Look at you, you're soaked. You'll catch a cold like this."
Chloe kept crying.
"Stop crying and tell me, what happened?"
Chloe laid it all out.
From Caius giving her $2 billion, to Sam swiping $500 million and losing it all, and even borrowing $800 million in high-interest loans.
Now, the Martinez family had cleaned out her account.
Abigail's frown deepened. "So, you're nearly $2 billion in debt?"
Chloe nodded, tears streaming down her face. "The Martinez family..."
Abigail was taken aback. She knew Caius well, having been part of the Martinez family herself, though her family had been kicked out of ten years ago.
"Chloe, there's only one way out now."
Chloe looked at Abigail and asked, "What?"
Abigail said, "You have to pay back the Martinez family, or your family is toast. As for Sam's high-interest loan, maybe a big shot can help you get rid of it."
Chloe grabbed Abigail's hand and pleaded, "Abigail, you have to help me."
Abigail said, "Even though I'm the VP of the Epoch Group, I don't know many people in high places. The only one who can help you now is Justin, Mr. Carter."
"Justin?"
Abigail nodded, "Alright, I'll call Mr. Carter right away."
Chloe wanted to refuse, but she was out of options. She nodded.
Abigail called Justin.
At the Carter family villa, Justin got the call and fell into deep thought after hearing the details.
He'd been eyeing Chloe for a long time. But Larry's influence had kept him at bay.
However, rumors about Black Dragon's resignation had been flying around lately.
And just yesterday, the internet was buzzing that Black Dragon was in Southwild, fighting masters from twenty-eight countries at Cedar Grove and being chased by an army of 100,000.
'Now that Larry's resigned and isn't Black Dragon anymore, what do I have to fear? Besides, Black Dragon's made a lot of enemies. Just by using connections to forcibly acquire NextGen City, the Harmony Alliance Circle won't let him off.'
'Better if he dies in Southwild.'
'Even if he doesn't die, as long as he dares to come back to Sunset City, a ton of big shots will be after him.'
Thinking this, a sly smile crept onto Justin's face.
"Chloe, you're finally mine."
