Chapter 478 Cabinet's Token
On the way back, Paisley mulled over the whole situation carefully.
She wasnt trying to drive a wedge between Larry and Richard; she was just pointing out the suspicious aspects of the matter.
Larry was confused after hearing her words. He had been doubtful before, and now he was even more uncertain.
"I trust my grandfather, just like you trust Cody. Let's not talk about this anymore until I've checked out the volcano's base," he said quickly.
Even though he had doubts, he still trusted Richard.
Chloe shot Paisley a cold glance and said haughtily, "Are you done talking? If you are, get out. I want to sleep with my husband. Or do you want to be an audience?"
Paisley didn't say anything more and got up to leave.
After she left, Chloe asked, "Honey, do you really believe what Paisley said?"
Larry shook his head slightly. He didn't want to believe it. Compared to Paisley, he trusted Richard more. But there were indeed suspicious points.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. It's getting late. You should go back to your room and rest. The Chieftain will be here soon, and I need to borrow some equipment from him."
"I don't want to."
Chloe immediately clung to Larry's arm, almost snuggling into his embrace, and said coquettishly, "I don't want to leave. You promised me you'd watch a grand fireworks show with me. Honey, after we deal with all these troublesome matters, let's find a countryside to live in seclusion, okay?"
Larry shook his head slightly. Such scenes felt too distant for him. He didn't even know if he could come out of this struggle unscathed.
Chloe took out a black token and handed it to Larry.
Larry asked, "What's this?"
Chloe said, "This is the Cabinet's Token. In the Cabinet Room, they recognize the token, not the person. Whoever holds the Cabinet's Token is the master of the Cabinet's Token. The four guardians of the Cabinet Room, along with over a hundred strong individuals, will follow your orders."
Larry looked puzzled.
Chloe explained, "These are the experts of the Cabinet Room. The four guardians are at the peak of the fourth realm, close to the fifth realm. Ten elders are in the third realm, thirty-six are in the second realm, and seventy-two are in the first realm."
Chloe briefly described the strength of the Cabinet Room.
"The Cabinet Room was secretly established by my grandfather to deal with the Bennett family and those who framed him thirty years ago, to protect the family's safety. Unfortunately, my grandfather couldn't accomplish it and has always felt guilty. Luckily, you survived. My grandfather always hoped you'd be safe. Now, with the Cabinet's Token, you are the master of the Cabinet Room."
Larry didn't expect the Cabinet Room to be so powerful. Four individuals at the peak of the fourth realm, close to the fifth realm. Ten in the third realm. This strength was indeed formidable. With these people's help, he could definitely survive the political struggle among the Four Great Families.
"By the way…"
Larry remembered something and asked, "Did my grandfather ever tell you the ultimate secret of the Four Great Families?"
Larry thought that since Richard knew the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit, he might also know the secret of the four diagrams.
Chloe shook her head, "He didn't say."
"Alright."
Larry accepted the Cabinet's Token and said, "Thank you for all the help you've given me in secret during this time."
"It was Richard who helped you," Chloe corrected.
"Yeah."
Larry nodded. Then he sat on the couch, lost in thought, not knowing what he was thinking about.
Chloe didn't leave.
She wasn't very skilled in using Qi yet, so she practiced in Larry's room.
Two hours flew by.
Outside the hotel, a green off-road vehicle pulled up. A rugged man with thick eyebrows and big eyes, wearing a black coat, stepped out, followed by two equally imposing men.
This was the Chieftain who had arrived.
One of the Five Great Marshals of the Summer Nation, the Northern Chieftain.
In the North, he was like a god.
Maybe in other places, people didn't know or hadn't seen the Chieftain, but people in the North definitely knew him.
As soon as the Chieftain walked into the hotel, the receptionist's jaw dropped in shock.
What was going on today?
First Black Dragon Larry, and now even the Northern Chieftain had arrived.
After the initial shock, the receptionist quickly stood up and walked over, respectfully asking, "Mr. Chieftain, what can I do for you?"
The Chieftain asked, "Which room is Larry in?"
"Room 308."
The Chieftain didn't say anything more and went straight upstairs.
Larry was deep in thought when he heard a knock on the door. He snapped out of it and stood up to open the door.
Chloe quickly said, "Honey, you sit down. I'll go."
She walked swiftly to the door and opened it, seeing a stranger. She asked, "Who are you looking for?"
The Chieftain didn't expect a woman, a beautiful one at that, to open the door. He couldn't help but smile, "Larry has good taste."
Chloe blushed instantly and quickly explained, "I'm Chloe, his wife. Come in."
The Chieftain walked in with a smile, while his accompanying warriors stood at the door.
"Haha, Larry…"
The Chieftain laughed heartily as he walked in, saying, "I've been wanting to have a drink with you, but never had the chance. You came to the North, why didn't you notify me earlier?"
Larry stood up and smiled, "Chieftain, long time no see."
Larry had met the Chieftain before and even sparred with him.
"Sit." Larry pointed to the couch.
The Chieftain sat down.
Larry also sat down.
Chloe came over and sat beside Larry.
The Chieftain said, "Amelia went to Sunset City. Thanks for taking care of her during this time. She didn't cause you any trouble, did she?"
"She's been great, getting close to General Southwild Frank. They seem to be dating," Larry said with a smile.
"I've heard." The Chieftain laughed heartily and said, "You're in the North now, why not have a drink of our strong northern liquor? If you have any business, let's talk over drinks."
"Sure."
Larry didn't refuse the Chieftain's enthusiastic invitation.
He followed the Chieftain out of the hotel and found a bar on the street, ordering a few bottles of strong liquor.
While drinking, Larry mentioned his intention to borrow some equipment to search for someone in the volcanic cave of Mount Aragon.
The Chieftain agreed without hesitation, promising to send a helicopter the next morning.
They drank for two or three hours.
Larry then checked out of the hotel and went with the Chieftain to the military district, planning to take the helicopter to Mount Aragon the next morning, saving him the trouble of traveling.
Paisley and Chloe accompanied him.
Soon, it was the next day.
The next morning, several helicopters took off from the military district, heading to Mount Aragon.
On the plane.
Larry closed his eyes to rest.
Chloe sat beside him, holding his hand tightly.
Paisley stared out the window, lost in thought.
She always felt that Richard was up to something, but she couldn't figure out what his scheme was.
She looked at Larry, wanting to talk to him, but Chloe was always with Larry, and she couldn't find a chance to talk to Larry alone.
