Chapter 158 The Martin Family
Larry pulled Chloe out of the CureAll Drugstore.
Larry was a bit speechless. He had just went in to buy some herbs, not expecting to have run into so much trouble.
On the street, Chloe suddenly shook off Larry's hand and extended her fair little hand. "Hand it over."
Larry was slightly stunned and asked, "Hand what over?"
"Don't pretend you don't know. I'm talking about that black credential you took out earlier. Don't think I didn't see it."
Larry took out the Black Dragon credential, and Chloe instantly grabbed it.
[Commander of Southwild.]
Seeing the words on the ID, she laughed.
Larry asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Larry, are you bored or what? If you're going to make a fake credential, at least make it look real and relevant. Why would you make a credential for the Commander of Southwild?"
Larry touched his nose. Before he could say anything, Chloe walked to a trash can and threw the credential away.
Larry opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
Chloe scolded, "Stop doing illegal things like making fake credentials, especially military credentials. That's a serious crime."
"I understand," Larry responded helplessly, glanced at the trash can, and silently remembered the location of this street. He would ask Neil to help him retrieve the credential later.
"And the other thing." Chloe extended her hand again.
"That's it, I only made one fake credential. There's nothing else."
"The silver needles."
Larry took out a bunch of silver needles, more than fifty in total.
Chloe looked at the silver needles, examining them closely. They were just ordinary silver needles, nothing special. With a puzzled look, she asked, "What are these?"
Larry chuckled, "I'm also studying medicine, so I carry some silver needles with me just in case."
Chole said, "By the way...’"
Larry knew what Chloe wanted to say, so he picked up a silver needle and, while Chloe wasn't paying attention, stuck it into her body.
Chloe only felt a numbness in her chest. This numbness quickly spread throughout her body, rendering her immobile. She even lost the strength to open her mouth.
Larry smiled, quickly pulled out the silver needle, and said, "It's that simple."
Chloe was dumbfounded, thinking, 'This is too amazing, isn't it? A single prick from a silver needle has such a miraculous effect.'
After a while, Chloe finally reacted and asked, "How did you do that?"
Larry smiled and explained, "It's simple, just some basic medical skills. As long as you understand, you can do it."
"You're talking nonsense." Chloe rolled her eyes. If understanding was all it took, all the traditional doctors on Sunset City Medical Street would be able to do it.
But she had never heard of anyone being able to use a single silver needle to stop someone from moving. She had only seen this in TV dramas.
Larry smiled faintly and didn't explain much. It'd be useless for him to explain any further as she wouldn't get it anyway. He then changed the subject, asking, "Now that we didn't manage to get a gift, what should we do? Are we just going to go empty-handed?"
Chloe checked the time. It was already 10 AM. She wasn't in a hurry and planned to go to the Martin residence first because Solene's birthday was tomorrow.
After checking in at the Martin residence, they could come out in the afternoon to look around. If it didn't work out, they could take some time in the evening to go back to Sunset City, buy something there, and come back early in the morning. After all, it only took a little over two hours to drive back.
Chole said, "Let's head to the Martin residence first."
"Okay." Larry nodded.
The two walked towards the nearby parking lot.
Passing by a public restroom, Chloe said, "I'm going to use the restroom." and ran towards the restroom.
Larry called Howard.
Howard asked, "Larry, was everything settled?"
"Yes," Larry replied, "It's settled. By the way, Chloe threw away my credential. Can you call Neil and ask him to help me retrieve it and keep it for me?"
"Where?"
Larry told him the location.
Howard then hung up and called Neil.
Soon, Chloe came out. The two headed to the parking lot together, and they headed to the Martin residence.
After receiving Howard's call, Neil didn't dare to delay and headed to the trash can Howard mentioned. He personally rummaged through the trash can.
This scene caught the attention of many passersby.
"Isn't that a military general? What's he doing, digging through a trash can?"
"No way."
Many passersby were puzzled.
Neil ignored the murmurs of the passersby. Soon, he found a black credential in the trash can. When he opened it, he was instantly frightened. "Chloe is really too much, throwing the supreme Black Dragon's credential into the trash can," he muttered.
Chloe didn't know any of this. Thinking that Larry had made a fake credential, she decided to throw it away to avoid troubles down the line.Larry drove for over an hour and finally arrived at the Martin residence.
The Martin family didn't live in the city but in a more remote rural area.
Although it was rural, the Martin residence was a four-story independent villa with a large area. There were many cars parked in front of the villa.
The Martin family was also a large family. Because it was Solene's birthday, many of the family members were present.
At this moment, many people were gathered around a red Ferrari, and Sam had a smug look on his face. Every time he came to Solene's house in the past, he was looked down upon. Now, he could finally hold his head up high.
A yong woman said, "Sam, take me out for a ride this afternoon. I've never been in such a high-end car."
"Sure," Sam said with a bright smile.
Patting a young man in his twenties on the shoulder, Sam said with a smile, "Stick with me, and you'll benefit. I'll have you know that my family is really rich now. Scott owns 50% of the Everjoy Company shares, and now we have a one-hundred-million-dollar villa in Scenic Villas. Chloe has also started her own company."
Sam kept bragging.
Some of the Martins were gathered around Maria and Scott.
"Maria, you must be living comfortably now."
"Yeah, I'm so jealous of your one-hundred-million-dollar villa. When you move in, you must invite us to take a look."
"By the way, why isn't Chloe here yet?"
Maria was smiling happily. This feeling of being flattered was something she had never experienced before. After decades, she was finally being praised.
She smiled and said, "Chloe is driving herself. Her car lacks power, so it's a bit slow, but she should be here soon."
At that moment, a Maserati drove up and stopped in front of the villa. Larry was the first to get out of the car, followed closely by Chloe.
"They're here." Maria was the first to stand up.
Everyone else stood up as well.
Chloe walked over, smiling and greeting her relatives.
Larry didn't know anyone, so he just followed Chloe's lead in greeting people.
"Chloe?"
"Is that Chloe?"
The Martins looked at Chloe, all stunned. They knew what Chloe used to look like, covered in scars. They heard that she had gotten better, but they hadn't expected her to become so beautiful.
"Chloe, Larry." From the crowd, an angelic-looking girl in her twenties, wearing a casual short-sleeve shirt, walked out. She was Helen, who had taken leave early to come back for Solene's birthday.
"Whose sports car is this? Not bad." At that moment, a sarcastic voice came.
Everyone turned to look and immediately walked over to start flattering the speaker.
Chloe whispered, "Honey, that's Cassian, Kian's son. Kian started his own company and is worth billions of dollars. Cassian is now the general manager of the company."
"Okay." Larry nodded, not surprised.
