Chapter 251 The Honorable Guest
Ronan didn't see it coming that the Pearl Harbor Hotel had switched hands in the dead of night, now owned by the Epoch Group.
And now, the Lewis Family had to beg the Epoch Group for a room. Word on the street was that the bigwigs from Epoch were rolling in for a meeting.
Kyle wanted Ronan to take the fall, which basically meant game over for him.
"Kyle, you gotta have my back, man. My family's counting on me."
Kyle gave Ronan a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "Chill, dude. As long as I'm around, you won't go hungry. Once you take the hit for this, I'll bring you back on board when the dust settles."
With Kyle's promise, Ronan felt a bit more at ease.
The whole management crew of the Pearl Harbor Hotel was hanging out at the entrance, waiting for the boss to show up.
Except for the general manager, the other managers had no clue about the ownership change.
Soon enough, a sleek business sedan pulled up at the hotel entrance. Out stepped a woman in her thirties.
She was rocking a professional look—white shirt, black pencil skirt, short hair. She had this commanding presence and went by the name Calliope Wilder.
She was the big shot running the hotel department for the Epoch Group.
"Ms. Wilder."
Kyle hustled over with a big grin, "Ms. Wilder."
The other managers looked confused.
Calliope glanced around and gave a heads-up, "Ms. Cox will be here soon. Stay sharp."
"Ms. Cox?" Kyle was caught off guard, then blurted out, "You mean the chairman of the Epoch Group?"
"Yep," Calliope nodded.
"What's the deal?"
"Wasn't Mr. Jones the owner? When did Ms. Cox from Epoch Group get involved?"
"Did the Pearl Harbor Hotel get bought out?"
Everyone was whispering among themselves. Calliope kept quiet and stood at the entrance with Kyle.
Larry spotted Calliope. He knew she was with the Epoch Group too, but he didn't approach. He waited on the side for Sue to show up, the only one who knew his real deal.
If he went over now, they'd probably ignore him or think he was some nutjob and kick him out.
A few minutes after Calliope arrived, a woman in a white dress hurriedly got out of another business sedan.
Her hair was a mess, like she had rushed out without getting ready. This was Sue, who had dashed over from home.
After hearing about the situation at the Pearl Harbor Hotel and knowing Larry was coming, Sue didn't waste time freshening up.
Calliope greeted her respectfully, "Ms. Cox!"
"Ms. Cox, good evening."
The others chimed in.
Sue looked around frantically but didn't spot Larry. She couldn't help but ask, "Where's Larry? Where are the Lewis Family members?"
Everyone was taken aback. Ronan thought Ms. Cox was here to mess with the Lewis Family and that the Five-State Business Alliance had teamed up with the Epoch Group.
He stepped up and started talking, "Ms. Cox, the Lewis Family members have already been kicked out by me."
He went on to explain what had gone down with the Epoch Group.
He figured Sue was here to grill him about why he gave rooms to the Lewis Family. He owned up to it, admitting his mistake and claiming he had fixed it.
Sue's face went ice-cold. She stormed over and slapped him.
Ronan didn't dare to whine, just kept his head down, apologizing over and over, "Ms. Cox, I'm sorry. I had no clue the Lewis Family was in hot water with other families. If I knew, I wouldn't have dared to give them a room."
Kyle was pretty pleased. Ronan was smart, taking all the heat.
But Sue snapped, "Who cares about the Carter Family and the Martinez Family? What’s the Five-State Business Alliance? The Lewis Family are VIPs of the Epoch Group. We ain't scared of those big families at all."
Ronan and Kyle were left speechless by her outburst.
A few seconds later, Kyle walked over and kicked Ronan, cursing, "You idiot, I told you not to mess with the Lewis Family. How did you screw this up? You're fired."
Ronan finally got it, crying, "Ms. Cox, I didn't know."
"Where are the Lewis Family members and Larry?" Sue shouted, knowing Larry's true identity.
If it weren't for Larry, she'd still be a thief.
Even though many big shots wanted Larry dead, he had survived being hunted by top experts from twenty-eight countries and an army of a hundred thousand. Who in Sunset City could take him down now?
"They're up ahead," Ronan said like a kid caught in the act, pointing a few hundred feet away. "I don't know if they're still there."
Just then, Larry walked over.
Sue saw Larry and immediately rushed over, looking all apologetic, "Larry, I'm sorry. This was my bad. I'll personally handle anything you need."
Larry waved it off, "Forget it. Go bring the Lewis Family over. Make sure this kind of mess doesn't happen again."
"Okay, I'll go personally to welcome them."
Larry shook his head, "Go back and rest. Let others handle it."
Sue barked, "What are you all standing around for? Move it."
Calliope nodded right away, "Got it, Ms. Cox."
She turned and left, followed by the hotel staff.
The Lewis Family members were huddled together, some sitting on the ground, others standing around.
"If Larry can't fix this, we're sleeping on the street tonight."
"I don't trust him. Chloe's family are all troublemakers, only bringing disaster to the Lewis Family."
"Yeah, if it weren't for Chloe, we'd still be chilling in the big villa, enjoying the AC."
The Lewis Family members grumbled. Just then, Calliope showed up with the hotel staff.
Calliope walked over, looking genuinely sorry, and said, "Mr. Lewis, we are truly sorry. On behalf of the Pearl Harbor Hotel and the Epoch Group, I apologize. Please don't mind. The rooms have been arranged, all presidential suites. This way, please."
As she spoke, she made a gesture of invitation.
The staff chimed in, "Honored guests, please."
The Lewis Family members were all stunned.
