Chapter 367 The True Hero

Larry drew the Execution Sword under the watchful eyes of everyone present.

He looked at the sword and suddenly pointed it at Alistair, who was seated at the head of the table.

The room was stunned.

Alistair was momentarily taken aback, his heart pounding and cold sweat forming on his forehead.

After a few seconds, he snapped out of it and shouted, "Larry, what the hell are you doing? Pointing the Execution Sword at me—are you trying to kill me?"

Larry smiled faintly. "Relax, Alistair. You're overreacting. I was just waving it around."

Larry held up the Execution Sword, which weighed over ten pounds. His arm began to weaken, his face turned pale, and sweat appeared on his forehead. Lifting the sword had drained all his strength, and he had to lower it.

Many people breathed a sigh of relief.

Frank looked around at everyone. "I've said all I needed to say."

With that, he walked to an empty seat and sat down.

The jurors at the head of the table began to whisper among themselves.

"What should we do?"

"The Black Dragon has the Execution Sword, giving him the authority to execute those who escape legal punishment."

"He took money, but it was for the soldiers guarding the borders."

"He's guilty, but not to the extent of execution."

Hearing these murmurs, Alistair grew anxious and quickly said, "Larry has committed many offenses and cannot be let off lightly. He sympathizes with the people of Summer Nation? The country has laws and policies; he doesn't need to use illegal means to make money. He's just using the guise of helping the people."

Free looked at Alistair and asked, "So what do you suggest?"

Alistair replied, "I recommend stripping him of his position, demoting him to a civilian, and confiscating the Execution Sword."

"I agree."

"I agree too. Larry's killings might be understandable, but taking money is a crime. As a commander, he shouldn't be taking money. If he knew the people were in trouble, he should have reported it to the state for financial support."

Many voiced their agreement with Alistair's opinion.

The chief judges deliberated for half an hour before reaching a decision.

Finally, Alistair stood up and announced loudly, "Larry has the Execution Sword and the authority to enforce the law, but during his tenure, he took money, which is illegal. Summer Nation cannot tolerate this. After much deliberation, we have decided to strip Larry of all his positions, demote him to a civilian, and confiscate the Execution Sword and the Black Dragon Card."

He then looked at Larry and asked, "Larry, do you accept this verdict? If not, you can appeal, and the King will personally review it."

Larry nodded weakly. "I accept."

"Good. Please return the Execution Sword and place it in the hall."

Larry stood up, holding the Execution Sword, and slowly walked towards the hall under the gaze of numerous cameras.

At the front of the hall, there was a designated place for the sword. When the Black Dragon Army had no commander, the Execution Sword was kept there.

Larry reached the spot, turned to look back, and his gaze lingered on Alistair. A faint smile appeared on his lips. "One day, I will return here, take up the Execution Sword, and execute those who deserve it."

Hearing this, Alistair's heart skipped a beat. His face remained cold, and he thought to himself, "You'll never get that chance."

Larry placed the Execution Sword down.

He then looked at the judges and asked, "Can I go now?"

Free replied, "Yeah, you can."

Larry walked out step by step.

Many cameras captured this moment.

Larry's back was slightly hunched, no longer resembling the war hero he once was, but rather an old man nearing his grave.

Larry exited the hall.

Outside, a large crowd had gathered.

They had come specifically to see Larry's sentencing, but no one expected this outcome.

Seeing the weariness on Larry's face, the crowd fell silent.

They had thought he was a criminal, a corrupt official.

But they realized he was a true national hero, dedicated to protecting the country and caring for the poor.

Such a person, in the end, met this fate.

Thousands gathered outside the hall.

Thousands were silent.

Thousands bowed their heads.

Many women even shed tears.

"Larry!"

A voice called from behind.

Larry turned to see Frank running towards him.

Frank caught up and asked, "Larry, what are you gonna do now?"

Larry weakly patted Frank's shoulder. "Thanks, but you don't need to worry about me. Go back to Southwild. The hundred and fifty cities need management. Don't let Southwild fall into chaos."

"But you..."

Larry raised his hand slightly, interrupting Frank.

"Don't worry about me. I need to take this opportunity to rest. I'm really tired."

Larry turned and walked away.

The crowd at the entrance made way for him.

Larry walked down the path created by the crowd.

But the path seemed long, and he felt like he had been walking forever without reaching the end.

"Restore Larry's position."

"Summer Nation needs heroes like him."

Someone shouted, and others quickly joined in, their voices growing louder and louder. Larry felt overwhelmed by the noise.

He quickened his pace, wanting to leave the path lined with people as soon as possible.

But he had been poisoned.

He had walked so far, using up all his strength. He couldn't go any further. His vision blurred, and he collapsed to the ground.

"Larry!"

Abigail, who had been following him, rushed to help him up.

Larry regained consciousness.

"Get away."

He pushed Abigail away.

Abigail stumbled back, and Larry nearly fell again but managed to stand.

He straightened up and roared with effort.

"I've been through hell and back. This poison is nothing."

His face was pale, but his expression was resolute, with an unyielding spirit.

With strong determination, Larry straightened up and walked forward step by step.

The media captured this moment clearly.

A straight back, a solid body.

This was the true guardian of Summer Nation.

The entire nation wept at this sight.

"We wronged him."

"He had the Black Dragon Card, endless money, but he cared for the people, creating the Epoch Group to give back to them."

"He is the true war hero, the true national hero."

"He distributed the nine trillion dollars in reparations from twenty-eight countries to the Black Dragon Army."

"Yes, they guard the borders, protect Summer Nation, but their families live in poverty."

Everyone who saw Larry's back fell silent, reflecting on their actions.

Larry felt like he had been walking forever but finally reached the end of the path.

He had no strength left and collapsed, unconscious.
