Chapter 246 Citywide Ban
Larry couldn't care less about this medical conference.
Winning the title of Divine Doctor wasn't difficult for him; he was more worried about not making too big of a splash.
With Larry's reassurance, Chloe felt a lot better. She was banking on Larry to pull the Lewis Family out of this mess. If he couldn't, they'd be toast, fading into nothingness.
The family was having dinner when there was a knock at the door.
Larry got up to answer it and found a crowd—Victor, Harry's family, and Jack's family.
Seeing over twenty people at the door, Larry frowned and asked, "Grandpa, what's going on?"
Victor sighed, "I'll explain inside."
Larry invited Victor in, "Grandpa, come on in."
Seeing the Lewis Family show up again, Maria's face turned sour.
"Dad, have a seat," Scott said, standing up to invite Victor to sit. "Have you eaten? Should I ask Larry to get some more utensils?"
Maria snapped, "With this many people, how could we have enough food ready?"
There were just too many of them, over twenty.
Victor sat down while the others stood. Larry couldn't help but ask, "Why didn't you find a place to stay with the million bucks I gave you?"
Victor, looking troubled, said, "The Carter Family and the Martinez Family planned this. We went to a bunch of real estate agents, but as soon as they found out we were the Lewis Family, they wouldn't rent to us. Even the hotels turned us away."
"Chloe, this is all your fault," Julia pointed at Chloe and yelled. "If you hadn't pissed off the Carter Family, we wouldn't be in this mess. You idiot."
Julia hated Chloe. Because of her, the Lewis Family was in crisis. Her boyfriend dumped her, she had to leave the mansion, and now she was practically homeless. Even a hot shower was a luxury.
Oscar also pointed at Chloe and cursed, "You think you're all that just because you're pretty? Mr. Carter liked you, but you embarrassed the Carter Family. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be in this mess."
Other family members joined in, throwing nasty comments at Chloe.
Chloe kept her head down, not daring to say a word, knowing she was to blame.
"Have you guys had enough?" Larry shouted.
Oscar jumped up, pointing at Larry. "You worthless piece of trash, why are you yelling? What right do you have to talk to me like that as a son-in-law?"
Larry stood up and slapped him, the sound echoing through the room.
Oscar covered his face, pointing at Larry, and clenched his fist, ready to hit him. "I'll kill you."
"Enough," Victor scolded. "Haven't you caused enough trouble?"
Oscar stopped, glaring at Larry.
Larry snorted and looked at the Lewis Family members in the room. "The Carter Family and the Martinez Family are definitely overbearing, blocking us all over the city. But you have relatives, right? Why didn't you stay with them? Why come to my house in the middle of the night?"
Larry was also fed up with the Lewis Family.
Even though Chloe caused this mess, she was helpless. Larry had already been generous enough to give Victor a million dollars to sort out their living situation.
Now they were here to insult Chloe. If they weren't all members of the Lewis Family and Chloe's relatives, Larry would've already done something about it.
Victor sighed, "After the Lewis Family got into trouble, these relatives all cut ties with us."
Harry's wife, Lily, snapped, "It's all because of Chloe that the Lewis Family went bankrupt. Now I can't even go back to my own home. I've tried calling, but no one answers."
She glared at Chloe. If there weren't so many people around, she would've started hitting her.
Victor sighed again. "This is how it is. When you have money, everyone flatters you. When you're in trouble, they all act like this."
Chloe looked at Larry with a pleading expression, gently tugging at his sleeve, and whispered, "Honey, do you have any ideas? Quickly think of a way to find a place to settle Grandpa and the others down."
Larry held Chloe's hand and said, "Alright, I'll handle it."
He walked out of the house, went to the stairwell, and lit a cigarette. Then he called Sue.
"Larry." Sue's excited voice came through the phone, "You finally called me. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Sue. Does the Epoch Group have any hotels?"
"Yes, the Epoch Group is currently renovating a hotel, expected to open next month. We've also acquired three five-star hotels in Sunset City."
"I have more than twenty people here. Can you help settle them down temporarily?"
"Sure, Larry. Where are you? I'll send someone to pick you up."
"No need. Just give me the hotel address, and I'll send the Lewis Family there. Remember, inform Helen that I asked her to arrange the hotel."
"Got it."
Larry hung up the phone. After finishing his cigarette, he went back inside.
Everyone in the room was looking at Larry. Chloe walked over and asked anxiously, "Honey, how did it go?"
Larry smiled, "It's taken care of."
Chloe looked surprised and asked, "The Carter Family and the Martinez Family have teamed up to suppress the Lewis Family, making it hard for us to live in Sunset City. How did you solve the accommodation problem?"
Larry smiled, "Did you forget that Helen works at the Epoch Group as a department manager? I made a call, and it was resolved. The Epoch Group has hotels, who isn't afraid of them."
"Oh, I see." Chloe suddenly understood.
Victor, leaning on his cane, stood up with a grateful expression, "Larry, thank you so much. Without you, we would really be on the streets."
Larry waved his hand slightly and smiled, "Grandpa, we're family. You don't need to thank me. Don't worry and stay here. The Lewis Family was down temporarily and will rise again in the future."
"Such arrogance."
"Rising again is too difficult."
"As long as Chloe is here, the Lewis Family can't rise again."
The members deliberately said, aware of the current situation.
Larry smiled faintly, looked at Victor, and said, "Grandpa, let me walk you downstairs."
Victor sighed again and said, "I've lived so long and finally understand that the only people you can rely on are family."
Larry shook his head and said, "Grandpa, you're wrong. Sometimes, even family can't be relied upon. The only person you can rely on is yourself."
Victor looked deeply at Larry. He now had a strong intuition that this Larry was not simple at all.
He seemed like a useless person, but he was very calm and composed, exuding an air of confidence and composure, making him seem very self-assured.
