Chapter 118 Framing and Blaming

Victor stormed off, fuming.

Oscar wore a smug grin of triumph.

Chloe's family didn't stick around the clinic; they headed home.

Once home, Sam cursed angrily, "This is infuriating. Isn't this just slandering Chloe? This has to be Harry's family's doing. They see Chloe becoming chairwoman and losing their chance to embezzle from the company, so they want to push her out."

Larry sat down and said calmly, "Anyone can see that."

Chloe looked at Larry. "How did you know there was a problem with the medicine?"

Larry replied, "I'm a doctor. I can tell what symptoms these people have just by touching them. They all took the same medicine, so this isn't an outsider targeting Everjoy Clinic. It's an internal family conflict. They didn't dare to make a big fuss, so they just replaced a few ingredients with inferior ones. This medicine won't kill anyone. Only certain people with specific conditions might have an allergic reaction."

"What about that elder Nicholas?"

Larry explained, "Although it won't kill people, it does have some connection. So I chose to pay to resolve the issue. Fortunately, the public thinks we're just hyping things up, and the deceased's family has left. If this escalates, it would be very detrimental to Everjoy Clinic."

"I really didn't take any kickbacks or use inferior, expired medicine," said Chloe.

"I believe you. Leave this matter to me to investigate," Larry replied.

"Forget it. You better not get involved. Grandpa asked Harry to investigate. I believe Harry will clear my name."

Larry sneered, "Harry won't clear your name. Even Sam can see that Harry's family is targeting you. Do you think Harry will really investigate? If something goes wrong, they'll still make you take the blame."

"Then, what should we do?" Chloe was anxious.

"Chloe, you're the chairwoman. You should investigate this yourself. There are only a few people who have access to the medicine. Check them one by one, and you'll easily find out where the problem lies."

Larry nodded. He didn't expect that Sam, a good-for-nothing loser, would actually be smart.

Chloe thought for a moment. "Alright, I'll go to work tomorrow and look into it."

"Larry, thank you. If it weren't for your help, the Lewis Family's reputation would have been ruined." Maria was also grateful to Larry.

With so many people causing trouble, the Lewis Family was in a panic and chose to close their doors and hide.

Victor chose to make phone calls, trying to use his connections to resolve the matter.

Only Larry remained clear-headed, choosing the simplest way to defuse the situation.

Otherwise, this wouldn't have been a matter that could be resolved with just two million dollars dollars.

Although the public thought Everjoy Clinic is just hyping things up, it was better than rumors about using inferior or expired medicine.

Larry smiled faintly, holding Chloe's hand and comforting her, "Don't worry, it's okay. To achieve great things, it's impossible to ensure all goes well. You have to go through some hardships."

Chloe nodded.

Meanwhile, at the Lewis Mansion, Victor sat on the sofa, smoking.

Oscar and Julia were badmouthing Chloe, blaming everything on her.

"Grandpa, it's obvious that Chloe is behind this. She first bought inferior medicine at a low price, pocketed the money, and then colluded with outsiders to scam the family's money. The deceased didn't even die from our medicine, and now we've given away two million dollars for nothing. Chloe must have gotten that two million dollars must."

"Yeah, Grandpa, ever since Chloe took office, she's been extravagant and constantly misappropriating company funds. Now, there's not much usable money left in the company's account. If the cash flow breaks, our Lewis Family will be in crisis."

Everyone kept badmouthing Chloe.

"Grandpa, I don't think Chloe is fit to be chairwoman."

"Even if she has connections, if we let her mess around, the company will definitely go under."

Victor understood this, too. He looked at Harry and said, "Harry, investigate the medicine issue ASAP. If it's really Chloe causing trouble, she won't be let off easily."

"Yes." Harry nodded.

Oscar, knowing his scheme had succeeded, gave Stella a victorious smile.

Victor stood up, leaned on his cane, and went upstairs to rest.

Downstairs in the hall, Harry looked at Oscar, asking, "Is this matter related to you?"

Oscar was startled and quickly denied it, saying, "Dad, don't say that. This can't be related to me."

Harry said coldly, "This is no trivial matter. If something goes wrong, it will be devastating for Everjoy. Chloe isn't stupid. She would never do something like this."

With the deceased's family causing trouble, Oscar was indeed flustered. He had done it perfectly just to get Chloe in trouble. Although the medicine was questionable, it wouldn't kill anyone.

"Dad, Chloe's status is almost surpassing ours. If this continues, the Lewis Family will be under her control."

Oscar then confessed, "Yes, it was me. I bribed the person in charge of purchasing, Benjamin Williams, to secretly replace some of the medicine. I just wanted to teach Chloe a lesson. I didn't expect it to almost cause a big problem."

Harry slammed his hand on the table in anger.

Oscar quickly said, "Dad, I did this for your good. Although our family now has 20% of the shares, all the profits are being used by Chloe to expand the business. We can't get any money. Without money, having 20% of the shares is useless. Only by getting rid of Chloe can we continue to make money. This way, the future of the Lewis Family will be yours."

Julia also spoke up, "Dad, you are the eldest son of the Lewis Family. No matter what, you should be the one to manage the Lewis Family, not Chloe. Today, she didn't even consult Grandpa before giving away the money. She doesn't respect Grandpa or you at all."

Hearing this, Harry slowly nodded. "Given the situation, we can only push the blame onto Chloe. I'll personally go to Benjamin and arrange this properly."

With that, he quickly stood up and went to Everjoy.

At Everjoy, in the vice president's office, Benjamin in his sixties walked in. "Harry, you wanted to see me?"

Harry looked at the sixty-something Benjamin and asked, "Benjamin, you've been working at Everjoy for over twenty years, right?"

Benjamin nodded and sighed, "Yes, it's been over twenty years. When I joined Everjoy, it was still a small company. Now, it's a big company."

Harry took out a card, placed it on the table, and pushed it over.

"Harry, what are you doing?"

Harry said, "Benjamin, you're sixty now and about to retire. There's two hundred thousand dollars in this card, enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life. Tomorrow, you must insist that the medicine issue was arranged by Chloe."

"Well..." Benjamin was flustered.

"Don't worry, no one will know you colluded with Oscar. I won't pursue the previous ten thousand dollars either. Once this is done, you can retire with honor and take the two hundred thousand dollars. Otherwise, everyone will know about your collusion with Oscar to replace the medicine with inferior ones. You don't want to be sued before you retire, do you? Follow my instructions and put all the blame on Chloe. Say that Chloe threatened to fire you."

Benjamin looked at the bank card on the table, a look of greed flashing in his eyes.

He had worked diligently for Everjoy for twenty years but still earned a low salary. Making a big sum before retirement didn't seem bad.

Benjamin said, "Harry, I agree."

Harry nodded, a satisfied expression on his face.
