Chapter 132 The Mysterious Mr. Bennett
Larry got home, but Chloe's family wasn't there, and he didn't have his keys.
He wasn't in the Lewis Family's WhatsApp group, so he didn't know they had gone to the Lewis Mansion.
Larry called Chloe, who was on her way back from Everlife Pharmaceuticals after meeting Kelly for some orders.
Chloe saw the family group messages about "Mysterious Mr. Bennett" and "Luxurious gifts" and thought of the masked man.
Her phone rang, snapping her out of her daze. "Larry, what's up?"
"Chloe, where are you? No one's home, and I forgot my keys," Larry replied.
"I'm almost home, I'll reach in about half an hour," Chloe said.
"Okay." Larry hung up and waited at the door.
Half an hour later, Chloe, looking stunning, arrived. Larry stood up and smiled. "Chloe."
Chloe opened the door and handed Larry a box, blushing. "Hide this well, use it tonight."
Larry trembled with excitement.
Chloe added, "Someone sent expensive gifts to the Lewis Mansion today. Dad and Mom went to see them. Let's go too."
"Okay," Larry smiled.
The gifts were from Larry to Chloe. It was time to reclaim them.
They went to the Lewis Mansion, where dozens of people had gathered, including all the important family members and some significant relatives.
The living room was filled with boxes of cash, gold and silver jewelry, and expensive clothes.
As soon as they entered, they heard Maria arguing with Oscar. "These were clearly sent by Justin for Chloe."
Maria, hands on her hips, shouted, "This isn't for Julia. Julia's boyfriend is Luke from the Foster Family. The Foster Family has some money, but not this much. Do you know Mr. Carter from the Carter Family? That's Justin. The Carter Family is low-key. He even came to my house at noon with gifts worth hundreds of thousands."
Sam showed off car keys. "See this? It's from Justin."
Seeing that, Oscar lost all confidence.
Julia argued, "The person who sent the gifts said it was from Mr. Bennett, not Mr. Carter. Does Chloe know a wealthy Mr. Bennett?"
Oscar finally spoke up, "Are you saying this Mr. Bennett is your son-in-law, Larry? That's hilarious. It can't be Larry. He has no money or power. I heard he even asks Chloe for cigarette money."
Many people laughed.
Chloe and Larry walked in just in time to catch the conversation.
Chloe's expression tightened, and a flicker of discomfort crossed her face. Larry, noticing this, gripped her hand and announced loudly, "These gifts are for Chloe."
Maria immediately came over, pulled Chloe to her side, and scolded, "Larry, you loser, why are you here? I told you, you're not good enough for Chloe. Get a divorce tomorrow."
"Mom," Chloe interjected, her voice tinged with exasperation.
Larry stepped forward. "The Mr. Bennett who sent the gifts is me, and they're for Chloe."
Chloe quickly tugged on Larry's arm and whispered urgently, "Don't say that."
Victor, sitting on the sofa, raised his eyebrows. "Really, it was you who sent them?"
"Of course," Larry nodded.
"Bullshit," Oscar snapped. "No way you have that kind of money."
Maria chimed in, "Larry, don't be shameless. Just because your last name is Bennett doesn't mean you can shamelessly claim these gifts are from you."
"Exactly," Julia added. "The person didn't say who the gifts were for. Chloe's married, so they can't be for her. This mysterious Mr. Bennett must be interested in me."
Victor wasn't sure either, since the sender only mentioned Mr. Bennett. He looked at Chloe. "Chloe, do you know a wealthy Mr. Bennett?"
Chloe was a bit stunned but nodded. "Yes, I do."
Everyone turned to look at Chloe.
Victor stood up, a bit excited. "Who is it?"
Chloe glanced at Larry, hesitating. She wasn't sure if she should say it. What if Larry got angry?
Victor urged, "Speak up."
Larry nodded at Chloe. "Go ahead."
Chloe nodded and said, "It's someone I saved ten years ago. He's from the Bennett Family, but I don't know his name."
"I remember now," a voice came from the hall. It was Jack.
Everyone looked at Jack.
Jack said, "I heard the previously sealed Dragon Soar Group has been unsealed and taken over by a mysterious person. Many industries under the other three major families have been handed over. These industries belonged to the Bennett Family ten years ago."
Everyone was shocked.
"I know about this too. After the Bennett Family's downfall, the Four Great Families took over their industries."
"Now they've handed them back. Could it be that someone from the Bennett Family has returned?"
"Weren't they executed?"
"The execution was fake. I heard the person Chloe saved has a significant background. The Free King probably executed a random death row inmate due to public pressure."
"Could the gifts really be from the person Chloe saved ten years ago? Is he going to marry Chloe?"
The Lewis family members started discussing fervently among themselves.
Chloe exclaimed, "What, he's really still alive?"
Jack shook his head. "I don't know. I just heard someone took over part of the Four Great Families' industries and formed a new group called The Serpent Group. There should be news about it tomorrow."
Larry felt helpless. The gifts he sent somehow got linked to the person Chloe had saved ten years ago. That person was Larry.
"It really was me who sent them," Larry said.
"Shut up," Maria scolded. "Even though your last name is Bennett, you're not from the Bennett Family. You don't have any money."
Chloe tugged at Larry's arm and urged, "Larry, say less."
Larry sighed deeply, thinking, 'Why are things turning out like this? I sent the gifts, but no one believes me. Do I really have to reveal my true identity?'
No one believed him when he claimed to be Black Dragon and the owner of the Epoch Group. They might kick him out if he said it again. He had already mentioned it at noon, but no one believed him.
After thinking for a moment, Larry chose to remain silent. After all, the Mr. Bennett everyone was talking about was still him. It didn't matter if they misunderstood.
"No matter who sent them, I can't accept these gifts. I already have a husband," Chloe said, but her voice wavered with uncertainty.
Despite her words, Chloe was still eager to meet the mysterious Mr. Bennett, the person she had saved ten years ago, the one who saved her from Frederick.
Larry didn't miss Chloe's expression. He frowned, thinking, 'Could it be that Chloe really has feelings for the masked version of me?'
