Chapter 115 There's Really a Problem

The noisy scene quieted down for a few seconds.

Then, a burly guy in his thirties named Alex stormed out, holding an iron rod and glaring at Larry. He roared, "Who the hell are you? You got no right to speak here."

Alex was fuming. Chloe, scared of getting hit, hid behind Larry.

"Yeah. Pay up or shut up."

"If you don't pay, we'll trash the Everjoy Clinic."

"Incompetent doctors, if you can't do your job, get off Medical Street."

The crowd joined in, cursing and shouting.

No one from the Lewis Family dared to step forward.

The chaos outside was too much; stepping in could make things worse.

"Alright, enough! One at a time," Larry shouted, clearly annoyed. If this wasn't the Lewis Family's clinic, he wouldn't even be here.

Alex pointed his iron rod at Chloe and yelled, "Chloe, get out here. You're the chairman. My dad took your clinic's medicine and died. If you don't give us answers, we'll smash this place."

"Smash it! Smash it!" the crowd echoed, raising their weapons, ready to charge. But security guards held them back.

"I just had a cold, took some medicine from Everjoy, and ended up with an allergic reaction all over my body."

"Same here I took something for a headache, and now, my hair's falling out."

"We demand the authorities shut down Everjoy Clinic!"

The crowd's yelling grew louder.

Reporters were already there, broadcasting the chaos live.

Chloe, worried, whispered to Larry, "Larry, what do we do?"

Larry frowned. He analyzed, 'Is it really the clinic's medicine, or is someone stirring up trouble? Both are possible. If it was the medicine, these issues could happen. But it could also be a setup.'

"Alright, one at a time," Larry tried to calm them, then walked over to the stretcher, looking at the old man who had died.

"What are you doing?" Alex swung his weapon at Larry. "Don't touch my dad."

Larry shot him a sharp look, making Alex back off a bit.

But Alex still shouted, "He's dead. What do you want?"

Larry extended his hand. "Give me the medical report."

A middle-aged woman named Uma threw a pile of reports at Larry, yelling, "These are from this year. My dad got the medicine from your clinic."

Larry picked them up and examined them carefully.

Inside the Everjoy Clinic, the Lewis Family watched anxiously. They hoped Larry could fix this.

Julia whispered to Oscar, "Will there be trouble?"

Oscar replied, "No problem. We did everything perfectly. Outsiders can't find any flaws. Chloe's getting too powerful. If we don't bring her down a notch, she'll surpass us."

Outsiders didn't hear their conversation.

Larry continued examining the reports.

"Here, we brought the leftover medicine. We were about to take it to the FDA." Someone threw a pack of medicine.

Larry tore it open, sniffed it, even chewed some. Then he stood up and said, "Alright, how much do you want?"

"Two million dollars," Alex demanded greedily. "If you don't pay, we'll smash your clinic. This won't end until you pay."

Larry turned to Chloe and said, "You're the chairman. Tell finance to pay up."

"Larry, this..." Chloe was stunned.

She thought Larry would solve the problem, but now he wanted the Lewis Family to pay.

Inside, Maria shouted angrily, "Larry, what are you doing? Two million? That's insane. Are you in on this scam to rob the Lewis Family?"

Larry whispered to Chloe, "The medicine does have issues."

"But how can you be sure it came from Everjoy Clinic? What if they're framing us?" Chloe shot Larry a skeptical look. Paying up now would be admitting fault.

Larry said, "Trust me. Pay them first to calm things down. It'll be easier to handle the rest. If we prove later the medicine wasn't ours, it'll be great publicity. If there is a problem, paying now minimizes damage."

Chloe thought it over and realized Larry had a point. She stood up and nodded. "Alright, two million dollars. I agree."

Alex's family was shocked by the Lewis Family's generosity.

Usually, hospitals would fight tooth and nail to avoid paying, dragging disputes through court for years.

Now, Alex's family felt two million dollars was too little.

They huddled to discuss.

"Alex, isn't two million dolllars too little?"

"Yeah, the Lewis Family is loaded. Let's ask for more."

They quickly reached a consensus.

Alex stepped forward again, shouting, "Two million dolllars is not enough. We want ten million dolllars, or this won't end."

Alex's family started crying in front of the clinic.

"Larry, what do we do?" Chloe was anxious. She didn't expect them to raise the price. Now they wanted ten million.

The Lewis Family had spent a lot recently, and Chloe had invested heavily in expansion. They only had four million dollars in available funds.

Larry looked at Alex's family and said coldly, "Don't push it. The deceased had a terminal illness and was taking our medicine to prolong his life. Whether he died from our medicine or his illness is uncertain. If you want ten million, let's get a forensic autopsy."

Alex's family was stunned.

Alex's father had an incurable illness and was taking medicine to prolong his life. If the autopsy showed he died from his illness, they wouldn't get any money.

The crowd started murmuring.

"He has a point. The guy was already sick. It might not be the clinic's fault."

"But look, so many people have had issues."

"If it were just one person, it might be an accident. But with so many, it's not."

Alex's family discussed among themselves. They felt a formal process would delay getting any money.

After discussing, they decided to settle for two million dollars.

"Alright, we agree. Two million dollars, but you must pay immediately."

Larry glanced at Chloe. "Go make the arrangements."

"What about me? I took your medicine, and my hair fell out."

"Look at me, my face is swollen."

"I took the medicine and had diarrhea for days, got dehydrated."

"I don't need much. Just a few thousand."

People started shouting, demanding compensation.

Chloe went to arrange the transfer. Larry looked at the crowd and instructed, "Get me a table out here."

Soon, Sam and Mindy brought out a table and chair.

Larry sat down, looking at the crowd, and shouted, "Quiet down. Tell me your issues, and I'll look into them. Line up, one at a time. If it's our mistake, we won't deny it. But if you're here to cause trouble, don't blame me for doing it my way."
