Chapter 486 Challenging
Matthew was feeling pretty down.
He had spent decades building an underground intelligence network, pouring in endless effort and money.
But now it was all being used to do Larry's bidding, and he wasn't getting paid a cent.
"I'll have the results for you tomorrow."
He replied glumly.
"Tomorrow's too late. You've got half a day." Larry ordered in a commanding tone.
"I'll do my best. I'll get you the results tonight." Matthew thought about it - investigating company employees wasn't that difficult. Half a day should be enough to get it done.
"Larry, gathering intelligence requires money too. Every piece of information, every lead - they all cost money."
"What, asking me for money?"
"Come on, give me something. I can barely keep things running."
"Fine, I'll owe you. We'll settle up all at once later." Larry hung up directly.
Sue had been waiting nearby the whole time. Only after Larry hung up did she ask, "Larry, what should we do first?"
Larry instructed, "Hold off for now. Wait for the investigation results. Once we confirm there are no problems with the personnel, then we'll act."
"Yes."
Sue nodded and said, "Then I'll head down."
Larry waved his hand slightly, "Go ahead."
Sue turned and left.
Larry sat in his office chair thinking for a while, then got up to leave as well.
The PaxGen Pharmaceuticals issue would have to wait. He needed to make a trip to Medical Street and ask Chloe again if she knew where Abigail was. VitaGen Medical really needed people right now, and Sue alone wasn't enough to control the whole situation.
Abigail was very capable. Only if she came back would PaxGen Pharmaceuticals be okay.
He took a cab to Medical Street.
Medical Street was bustling today.
Ever since the medical competition last time, Silvermoon Apothecary had been quiet for a while, while Global Nexus Group clinic had risen from adversity.
Because of Larry, Chloe had become the new generation's miracle doctor.
Many famous doctors in Sunset City, and even some of the country's top doctors, had become Chloe's students.
Their goal was to get Larry's guidance.
A group of renowned doctors gathered at Global Nexus Group clinic, and with Chloe having received ten billion dollars, Global Nexus Group clinic had now reached a level comparable to Pillar Pharmacy.
Today, Silvermoon Apothecary had jumped out to cause trouble.
They had issued challenges to many clinics, but these clinics all refused. After refusing, they were suppressed - their clinics were smashed up and couldn't continue operating.
In front of Global Nexus Group clinic.
Cormac sat in a chair with Lachlan standing behind him, along with many doctors from Silvermoon Apothecary.
In front of the Global Nexus Group clinic stood a group of famous doctors led by Zander, Percival, and Octavius.
The Lewis family people had already arrived.
When they saw Chloe approaching.
The famous doctors at Global Nexus Group clinic immediately broke into smiles.
Zander and Percival walked over right away and said, "Chloe, you're finally here. Where's Larry? Quick, call Larry over. Silvermoon Apothecary is here to challenge us. Without Larry, we're no match for them at all."
"Yeah, Chloe, we all know you've been with Larry this whole time. Quick, call him to come."
"Once Larry gets here, Silvermoon Apothecary won't stand a chance."
Many doctors spoke up one after another.
The only reason they had become students of Chloe, a woman who knew nothing about medicine, was because of her relationship with Larry - they wanted to get Larry's guidance.
But all this time had passed.
Larry had never shown up.
They hadn't received any guidance at all.
Now, they were all thinking about leaving Global Nexus Group clinic.
Chloe looked at the Silvermoon Apothecary people at the entrance, walked over, looked at Cormac, and said coldly, "Cormac, didn't you say last time that after losing, you'd leave Summer Nation and never set foot here again?"
"Yes, I did say that."
Cormac sat in his chair, glanced at Chloe, and said calmly, "I did go back, but I've come again this time because my medical skills have improved even more. Last time at the medical competition, I lost to Larry. Today I'm here to get even. I want to prove to the world again that Chinese medicine is a branch of Veridian medicine, and that Veridian is the true origin of authentic medical arts."
Cormac spoke shamelessly.
"You're full of it."
"Cormac, have you no shame? Get lost. Medical Street doesn't welcome you. Summer Nation doesn't welcome you."
"A defeated opponent, and you still dare to talk big."
"While Larry hasn't arrived yet, you better leave now. Otherwise, when Larry gets here, you'll be defeated so badly you'll have nowhere to hide."
Many people cursed at him.
Even the onlookers started yelling.
Cormac remained unmoved.
Larry was the biggest threat.
Defeating Larry would be equivalent to defeating all the doctors on Medical Street.
He knew Larry's medical skills were unmatched, and in terms of medical expertise, he really couldn't compare to Larry. But this time he had something to rely on.
"I'm just afraid he won't dare to come."
Cormac said coldly, "Chloe, I'll give you one hour. If Larry doesn't show up within an hour, then I'll announce to the world that Larry is scared and doesn't dare to fight. Then Global Nexus Group clinic should just close down and stop embarrassing itself."
"You're full of it."
Maria stepped forward, pointing at Cormac and cursing, "Who do you think you are, showing off in front of my family's clinic? Larry's medical skills are unmatched in the world. How can you compare?"
Cormac's old face darkened, anger surging in his heart.
But he didn't lose his temper. Instead, he closed his eyes and began to rest with his eyes closed.
Chloe also knew that the doctors at Global Nexus Group clinic were no match for Cormac at all, because at the last medical competition, they had all lost to Cormac.
She walked to the side, took out her phone, and called Larry.
"Honey, where are you?"
At this moment, Larry had already gotten in the car and was on his way.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Please come quickly. Silvermoon Apothecary is going too far. They've challenged Global Nexus Group clinic, and they said they'll wait for you for one hour. If you don't show up, they'll announce to the world that you're too scared to fight and want us to close down Global Nexus Group clinic."
"I'm on my way," Larry said.
"Okay."
Larry hung up.
Then he closed his eyes to rest.
He was puzzled.
Last time at the medical competition, he had faced off with Cormac and competed in medical skills, but Cormac was no match for him at all.
So why did Cormac dare to challenge him again now?
What was he relying on?
Larry couldn't figure it out. He'd just have to go to Medical Street and see.
But no matter what Cormac was relying on, he wasn't afraid.
Because his medical skills now were incomparable to what they were at the medical competition.
Having obtained the second volume of the Medical Classic, his medical skills had reached an incredible level.
While Larry was heading to Medical Street.
At the top floor of VitaGen Medical, in a luxurious office.
"Ms. Ward, the person is already on the way and will need half a day to reach Sunset City. Over at Medical Street, they've already started challenging Global Nexus Group clinic. Chloe has shown up, but Larry hasn't appeared yet, though he should be on his way."
A young man in his early twenties stood before Megan, speaking respectfully.
"Mm."
Megan sat in her leather office chair, her fingers lightly tapping the desk. She nodded slightly, then asked, "Have we found out where Larry's medical knowledge comes from? Is it from the Bennett family's medical arts, or did he have some other fortunate encounter?"
The man said, "We've checked. He's been studying medicine since childhood, but Richard only taught him some basics. His current medical skills probably aren't the Bennett family's ancestral medicine. He must have gotten them from somewhere else."
Megan said calmly, "That doesn't matter anymore. Even if his medical skills are comparable to Cody's, now that Medicine Sanctuary's successor has appeared, even if Cody himself showed up, he wouldn't be a match. A mere Larry is nothing to worry about."
