Chapter 443 The Crisis of the Bennett Family
                    "What do you get?"
Paisley looked at Larry, surprised.
Larry pointed to the first figure, then the tenth. "Check it out."
Paisley couldn't help but look at the ancient scroll.
Her face lit up with joy. "It really takes two people to practice, huh?"
Larry nodded. "Yeah, looks like it. Wanna give it a shot?"
"Sure." Paisley nodded, her fair face showing anticipation.
The first figure was sitting cross-legged with hands raised above the head.
Larry immediately mimicked the pose.
The tenth figure, however, was upside down with hands touching the ground.
Together, it should be one person on top and one on the bottom.
Paisley leaped into the air, soaring six feet high, and placed her hands on Larry's raised palms.
The first figure's pose and the tenth figure's pose combined perfectly.
When the two of them combined, the meridian diagrams also aligned.
A single figure's meridian diagram was flawed and unreasonable. Following one diagram alone would make the Qi flow impossible. But if two diagrams were combined, they could form a complete system.
Paisley instantly activated her Qi, following the meridian route.
Qi flowed through her arms, into her palms, and then into Larry's body.
At that moment, a powerful force surged from her palms, causing Larry to cough up blood.
He collapsed to the ground.
Paisley flipped and landed smoothly, helping Larry up. "You okay?" she asked, concerned.
Larry shook his numb arms and said, "It seems like it should work, but it doesn't. Your Qi enters my body, and my body resists it. You can't control the Qi in my body, and I can't control your Qi."
Paisley fell into thought.
It was true.
"Did we misunderstand something?"
Larry shook his head slightly.
He wasn't sure either.
He stared at the Artwork of Moonlit and said, "The Artwork of Moonlit seems simple, but it's profoundly mysterious. If it were that easy to decipher, someone would have done it already. I think there's something hidden in the diagram that we haven't found."
Paisley asked, "So you think our understanding is correct, but we're missing something?"
Larry nodded. "Yeah."
"Then what could it be?" Paisley stared at the Artwork of Moonlit, deep in thought.
But no matter how hard she thought, she couldn't figure it out.
The underground chamber fell silent.
A man and a woman carefully studied the Artwork of Moonlit and the eighteen meridian diagrams.
Night passed quietly.
Paisley stayed in the underground chamber all night.
She and Larry meticulously studied the Artwork of Moonlit.
But in the end, they found nothing.
They tried practicing according to the separate meridian diagrams again.
But every time Paisley's Qi entered Larry's body, he got injured.
After several attempts, they had to give up.
Paisley speculated that it might be because Larry currently had no Qi and couldn't practice. They would try again once his body recovered.
Larry had no choice but to agree.
In the morning, Paisley left.
Larry stayed in the underground chamber.
His body had recovered somewhat, and he could meditate to speed up his recovery.
Paisley emerged from the underground chamber.
As she came out, she saw Cody sitting not far away.
"Grandpa," she called, walking over.
"Yeah," Cody nodded slightly, asking, "How did it go?"
Paisley shook her head slightly. "No progress. The Artwork of Moonlit is too mysterious. Larry can't decipher its secrets or gain any insights from it."
"Sigh."
Cody sighed.
Paisley asked, "Grandpa, what's wrong?"
Cody sighed again. "The Powell family is making moves. They've teamed up with two other families to pressure us into handing over Larry, the so-called murderer. And..."
His face grew serious.
"Grandpa, and what?"
Cody said gravely, "The Powell family claims that the Moonlight Fisher's Song they were guarding has been stolen. They insist that we took it and are demanding we hand it over."
"What?"
Paisley exclaimed, "The Moonlight Fisher's Song was stolen? Is that true?"
Cody stood up and said, "That's what the Powell family claims. Who knows if it's true."
He started walking towards the front yard.
Paisley followed closely behind.
"Oh, Larry said he wants to stay in the underground chamber for a few more days, at least half a month," Paisley said.
"I'm afraid there's no time for that," Cody paused slightly and said, "The other three families will gather at our place in ten days, demanding we hand over Larry and the Moonlight Fisher's Song. Larry must leave soon, or he won't escape this disaster."
"But..."
Paisley hesitated.
Cody looked at her and asked, "But what?"
Paisley said, "Grandpa, if we let him go now, it's like handing Larry over. While he's with us, the other three families won't dare act rashly. If he leaves, given his current condition, he won't stand a chance."
"Then what do you suggest? Should we really go against the other three families for Larry? We may be the head of the four great families, but if things get ugly, the other three won't necessarily show us any respect."
"I..."
Paisley started to speak but didn't know what to say.
Cody looked at her and questioned, "Paisley, you've always been rational and thorough in your analysis. What's different this time?"
Paisley immediately knelt down and explained urgently, "Grandpa, I just think that Larry, without anyone's guidance, managed to cultivate Qi and reach the first stage. And it's said his medical skills are unparalleled. Richard couldn't have taught him since childhood, so he must have had some extraordinary encounter. He must have secrets. I just think he still has value."
"Alright, get up," Cody waved his hand slightly.
Paisley stood up, keeping her head down, not daring to look at Cody.
"Even so, what do we say when the three families gather in ten days?"
Cody knew Larry had secrets.
He had heard of Larry's medical skills, which were different from our traditional medicine. It couldn't have been Richard's teaching.
And Larry, who cultivated Qi and reached the first stage after being poisoned, must have other secrets.
Paisley said, "It's clear someone is trying to sow discord. This person has caused so much trouble in the shadows to incite a war among the Four Great Families and reap the benefits. I think the other three families understand this. The Morgan family and the Nelson family agreed to ally with the Powell family, probably because they learned we obtained something from Victor Veil's Tomb and have their own agendas."
Cody pondered and then nodded slightly. "Makes sense."
Paisley continued, "Since we can't decipher the Artwork of Moonlit's secrets, why not use this opportunity to have the other three families bring out their diagrams? Combining the four diagrams could clear up misunderstandings and let us see the other families' diagrams."
"That's a good idea, but the Powell family claims their diagram was stolen, so they can't produce it," Cody said.
