Chapter 491 Alden, Wealthy Enough to Rival a Nation
Megan appeared and found Chloe, calling out to her.
The moment Chloe turned around, Megan suddenly made her move, raising her hand and striking toward Chloe.
Before Chloe could react, she saw the palm coming at her. In her panic, she channeled her Qi and raised her hand to defend herself.
Their palms collided.
Megan only felt a powerful force sweeping toward her. Her body was pushed back a long distance, her pretty face instantly turning pale, and her arm was so shaken she couldn't lift it.
She reached her hand behind her back, staring intently at Chloe. After several seconds, she laughed and walked over, saying with a smile, "Chloe, you really are impressive."
Chloe's face darkened. Looking at Megan, she said coldly, "Who are you?"
Megan smiled and said, "I'm from the Bennett family, Megan. Paisley mentioned you to me. I heard you're beautiful as a fairy and became a master in such a short time. I didn't quite believe it, so I came to see for myself. Now that I've met you, you're even more outstanding than Paisley said."
Hearing she was from the Bennett family, Chloe felt a bit relieved.
But she didn't give Megan a friendly look, because she didn't like Paisley either.
She asked coldly, "Anything else?"
"Nope." Megan's face was full of bright smiles as she asked, "By the way, I've been wondering—you were just an ordinary person before, so how did you become a master in such a short time? I asked Paisley, but she wouldn't tell me. I'm really curious."
"None of your business." Chloe turned and walked away.
"Interesting."
Megan watched Chloe leave, the corners of her mouth turning up in a sly smile.
Chloe returned to the Lewis Villa. She sat on the soft sofa, lost in thought.
Megan's appearance didn't arouse her suspicion. Right now, she was thinking about Abigail, wondering whether she should bring Abigail back.
She really didn't want Abigail to come back.
Because she hadn't remarried Larry yet.
Last time when she went to The Serpent Group to find Larry, she saw with her own eyes Larry and Abigail kissing passionately, with their clothes already off. If she had arrived any later, those two would have had sex.
She and Larry were husband and wife, but they had never been that intimate.
Thinking about this made her feel uncomfortable.
But she also understood the current situation.
She was caught in a dilemma.
Larry wanted to be a hero, to save the country and its people, but she didn't want to be a hero—she just wanted to stay by her man's side.
"Sigh."
She let out a long sigh.
After an intense internal struggle, she still decided to call Abigail back.
Before that, she needed to notify Richard.
Because it was Richard who had taken Abigail away.
She took out her phone and quickly dialed a number.
Soon the call connected, and a voice came through, "What's wrong? What's the matter? Didn't I tell you not to call me unless necessary?"
"Grandpa, something's happened in Sunset City..."
Chloe explained the situation in Sunset City.
"Larry keeps suspecting I know where Abigail is. He's pressed me several times. Now PaxGen Pharmaceuticals needs Abigail back to run things, and I promised him I'd ask the Cabinet Room guardian. So, should we bring Abigail back?"
The person on the phone fell silent.
After about several dozen seconds, a voice came through, "Alright, I'll arrange for someone to send her back. Don't call me anymore after this. This number won't work anymore either."
"Yes."
Chloe breathed a sigh of relief.
Beep beep beep!
The other party hung up.
Chloe casually tossed the phone on the table.
But then, she immediately picked up the phone again and called Larry.
After the call connected, she said with a smile, "Honey, the Cabinet Room guardian does know where Abigail is. They're already arranging to bring her back."
Hearing this, Larry also felt relieved and smiled, "Chloe, thank you."
"Honey, you have to promise me you'll only love me." Chloe said sourly.
She was genuinely worried.
Abigail wasn't bad-looking, plus she had strong business and management abilities. Most importantly, she knew how to seduce men. Chloe was really afraid that if she wasn't careful, Larry would be seduced away.
"Don't overthink it." Larry comforted her, "Abigail is coming back just to manage PaxGen Pharmaceuticals. There's nothing possible between her and me. If I wanted to be with her, I would have agreed long ago. Besides, she and I are innocent—nothing has happened between us."
Although Chloe didn't believe that nothing had happened between Larry and Abigail, hearing Larry say this still comforted her. At least Larry still cared about her feelings.
As long as she worked hard, she could eventually win back Larry's heart.
"Mm."
Chloe nodded firmly and said, "I'll work hard to be your best wife and never hold you back again."
Chloe encouraged herself—she must work hard, must try her best.
Since she couldn't help Larry with company management, she would help him with her strength. She already had third-level Qi. As long as she could use Qi skillfully, she could become a true master.
"I want to go for special training with the military."
A strong conviction arose in her heart.
Larry said a few more words to Chloe before hanging up.
He returned to PaxGen Pharmaceuticals to wait patiently.
Waiting for Matthew's investigation results, waiting for Alden to arrive.
Alden wasn't in Summer Nation, but he arrived quickly—before dark, he appeared at PaxGen Pharmaceuticals.
"Haha, Larry."
Alden walked in, his hearty laughter echoing as he opened his arms to hug Larry.
Larry waved his hand slightly and pointed to the sofa in the office. "Sit."
Alden sat down.
Larry took out cigarettes and tossed one over.
Alden caught it and asked, "Larry, you called me back so urgently—is there some mission?"
"What, can't I call you if there's nothing?" Larry lit a cigarette and asked with a smile.
"I know you too well. Just say what you need to say." Alden didn't beat around the bush with Larry and asked directly, "I've heard about what's happening in Sunset City. VitaGen Medical must have changed owners to act so quickly. You must be anxious, right?"
Larry smiled and said, "You really are the King of Assassins—you get information fast."
Larry didn't beat around the bush either and asked directly, "Want to learn how to cultivate Qi?"
"Of course."
Alden's eyes lit up with excitement. "Larry, are you finally going to give it to me?"
Larry asked with a smile, "I heard from Cason that in the first half of your life, you accumulated enough wealth, collected countless gold, silver, and jewels, and buried them within Summer Nation's borders. Is that true?"
"Yes."
Alden didn't hide it and answered honestly.
Larry got straight to the point, "I'll trade you advanced cultivation techniques for your life's wealth."
Hearing this, Alden was stunned.
Then he laughed excitedly, "Great! No problem, no problem at all."
For Alden, money was just a number.
He controlled Shadow Syndicate—making money was too easy for him.
And his power had long reached its peak, unable to advance further.
Cultivation techniques were basically passed down through single lineages—even with money, you couldn't buy them. Being able to trade money for Qi cultivation methods was a great deal.
Larry asked, "How much wealth do you have roughly?"
Alden shook his head. "I don't really know. In overseas accounts, probably a few thousand billion US dollars. As for the treasure buried domestically, it's mostly gold, silver, and jewelry. If converted to money, probably around a trillion US dollars."
Whoosh!
Larry gasped.
Alden was incredibly wealthy.
He hadn't expected the assassin business to be this profitable.
