Chapter 343 Investigating the Truth

Southwild, Aelsira.

Military District, Commander-in-Chief's Office.

Larry, dressed in a Black Dragon battle robe, was reviewing documents.

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

The door opened, and Frank walked in with a document, handing it to Larry.

"Dragon Lord, this is the information on the coalition forces of the twenty-eight countries. It lists the generals deployed by these countries and the overall commander of the coalition."

Larry took it and began to read.

The document showed that the overall commander of the coalition forces of the twenty-eight countries was a five-star general from the Republic of Saelstan.

His name was Gideon.

Gideon was born into a military family.

However, twenty years ago, the Republic of Saelstan experienced turmoil, and his family was framed for treason and executed.

He survived and became an ordinary person.

Later, through his own efforts, he rejoined the military and became a five-star commander in the Republic of Saelstan.

Larry had never faced Gideon in battle and didn't know much about him.

But he thought that since Gideon could become the overall commander of the coalition forces, he must know some inside information.

He put down the document, picked up the phone, and called Lyra.

Soon, the call was connected.

Larry asked, "How are things going?"

Lyra's voice came through the phone, "Larry, I've already infiltrated the enemy country and am looking for an opportunity to gather information on the deceased."

"Hand over your current task to someone else. Now, head to the Republic of Saelstan and investigate someone for me. I'll send the details to your email shortly."

"Got it." Larry hung up the phone.

He quickly sent Gideon's information to Lyra.

Lyra received the email, glanced at Gideon's basic information, then deleted it and left for the Republic of Saelstan.

Meanwhile.

In Southwild City, in a secret meeting room in the military district.

Generals from twenty-eight countries were gathered here.

Gideon was at the head of the table.

A general asked, "Gideon, now that we've taken Southwild, what's the next step? Should we attack Aelsira?"

Gideon, sitting at the head, looked at the speaking general and said calmly, "Attack Aelsira? You're overthinking it. Now that the Black Dragon has returned, the Black Dragon Army is fully defending Aelsira. How can we attack? Besides, our goal isn't to invade the Summer Nation; it's just to kill the Black Dragon. If we continue to attack, the Summer Nation will annihilate the twenty-eight countries."

Another general asked, "So what's the plan now?"

"Wait for orders."

Gideon had no ideas of his own.

He was just following orders.

He would act according to the higher-ups' instructions.

At that moment, his phone rang.

He answered the call and put it on speaker.

The meeting room instantly fell silent.

A voice came through the phone, "The Black Dragon has already sent people to the twenty-eight countries to investigate the backgrounds of those on the tour bus. The people he sent are very strong and capable; they should uncover everything soon."

Gideon couldn't help but ask, "What should we do now?"

"Stay put and let him investigate. It's best if he finds out everything. I know him; he doesn't want to start a war. Once he knows everything, he'll definitely come to you to resolve this border crisis in another way. That's when he'll meet his end."

"Understood." Gideon nodded.

The other party hung up.

Gideon looked at the generals present and instructed, "You all heard that. Stay put. Instruct your men not to act rashly in Southwild. Don't touch what shouldn't be touched."

"Understood." The generals nodded in agreement.

At this moment, Larry, Frank, and Idris quietly left Aelsira and headed to the location near Southwild City where the tour bus incident occurred.

On a deserted road, a Jeep drove up.

The car stopped.

The three got out.

Frank held a map, glanced at the marked route, and pointed ahead, "Dragon Lord, the tour bus incident happened right here."

Larry walked over.

A few days had passed, and there were no traces left.

He scanned the surroundings but found no useful clues. He then asked, "Where was the tour bus found?"

Idris walked over, pointed to the road ahead, and said, "Head north, bypass Southwild, and go inland. It's about three hundred miles from here."

"Let's go take a look." Larry got back in the car.

Idris drove towards the location where the tour bus was found.

Three hours later, they arrived at an even more desolate place.

The three got out of the car.

Idris pointed to an empty spot ahead and said, "This is where the bus was found. Everyone on the bus was dead, but the bus was intact. All the people on the bus were killed with a single blow. The bodies are now in a morgue in Southwild City. Since Southwild is occupied by enemy forces, we can't go there to check."

Larry instructed, "Give me the autopsy report."

Idris went to the car to get the report and handed it to Larry.

Larry read it carefully.

But from the report, he couldn't determine who had hijacked the tour bus and killed the people on it.

He asked, "Frank, Idris, who do you think hijacked the tour bus?"

Frank said, "Isn't it obvious? It must be the people behind this whole plan."

Larry gave him a look, "That's stating the obvious."

Frank coughed a few times and analyzed, "This is Southwild, within the Summer Nation. So, the hijackers are likely from the Summer Nation. And they don't seem like an ordinary group; they seem more like a well-trained military unit."

Larry looked at him and asked, "How did you come to that conclusion?"

Frank analyzed, "This road is heavily guarded by the Black Dragon Army, but the hijackers seemed to know the Black Dragon Army's deployment very well and completely avoided them. They are not only well-trained but also very familiar with the terrain. This must have been meticulously planned. Moreover, there were no signs of struggle in the bus, which suggests two possibilities."

"Yes." Larry nodded, "Two possibilities: either the people on the bus knew they were going to die and didn't resist, or the hijackers were too strong for them to resist."

Idris said, "Dragon Lord, I think it's pointless to investigate the tour bus now. The country is highly concerned about the loss of Southwild. If we don't send troops to retake Southwild City soon, there might be resentment against the Black Dragon Army."

Larry waved his hand slightly, "No rush. As long as there's no order to send troops, we'll stay put for now. Let's figure things out first. By the way, what about the personal belongings of the deceased, like their phones? Have you checked their phones for any clues?"

Idris shook his head, "The phones of the deceased are all sealed in the Southwild military district. As for checking them, no, we haven't. Things developed too quickly. From discovering the deceased to the twenty-eight countries sending troops, it all happened in one day. There wasn't time to handle everything."
