Chapter 437 Right and Wrong

Paisley sighed and shook her head, walking over to help Larry up.

"Get away," Larry weakly waved his hand, but the movement aggravated his injuries, causing him to cough up blood.

Just then, the door opened, and Cody walked in.

"Grandpa," Paisley called out.

Cody nodded slightly and sat down on a chair in the room, looking at Larry, who was sprawled on the floor.

Larry struggled to sit up, using all his strength, blood still at the corner of his mouth. He looked at Cody with a dark expression and asked, "Was it you who set the fire that killed my family ten years ago?"

"Yeah," Cody admitted without hesitation.

"I'll kill you..." Larry roared in anger, trying to stand but unable to.

Cody raised his hand slightly, "Larry, calm down and listen to me."

Larry's eyes were bloodshot, filled with rage. His entire branch of the family, over thirty people, young and old, had died because of Cody. If it weren't for Cody, his family wouldn't have been burned alive.

"Right and wrong, who can say for sure? History is written by the victors. If I had lost thirty years ago, I would have been the traitor, and it would have been my family burned alive," Cody said softly, almost as if talking to himself, but clearly addressing Larry.

"Richard was a genius, gifted from a young age, but he went astray. He stole the family treasure map and committed treason," Cody continued.

"That's nonsense," Larry shouted. He couldn't believe it. He knew what kind of person his grandfather was. In his memory, his grandfather was kind and friendly, with friends all over Sunset City, and a philanthropist who donated a lot of money to help children in the mountains. He was definitely not a villain.

"Right and wrong, no one can say for sure. Let's not dwell on the past. I saved you because you have Bennett blood in your veins. Do you know how much the Bennett family has sacrificed to save you? If this isn't handled properly, it could cause chaos," Cody said, then stood up and left.

Larry sat on the floor, staring at Cody's departing figure.

Paisley said, "Get up first. Whatever grudges you have, take care of your body first, okay?"

She walked over to help Larry. This time, Larry didn't refuse. After helping him lie down, Paisley brought some medicine and fed it to him with a spoon.

Larry asked, "What did he mean by 'sacrificed a lot' and 'if not handled properly, it could cause chaos'?"

Paisley explained, "The person you saw tonight wasn't me; it was someone impersonating me. Now, all the factions are trying to figure out what the Cabinet Room is. The Powell family captured you to probe deeper. If the Bennett family went to the Powell family to save you, it would be like admitting a connection between the Cabinet Room and the Bennett family."

She paused. "Grandpa received a call from the Powell family. If he didn't go to the Powell family tonight, they would kill you. But Grandpa didn't go."

"But tonight, someone left you at the Bennett family's doorstep, and Grandpa intervened."

"He saved you, so now people will speculate that the Cabinet Room is connected to the Bennett family. The situation in Aurora Citadel has been chaotic since Alistair's death. This might be a trap set by multiple people. It's hard to say who will fall into whose trap."

Paisley, who had always been close to Cody, understood these matters well. The Bennett family had always been outsiders, but now they were dragged in because of Larry.

"It's because of you that the Bennett family got involved. Maybe from the beginning, you were being used. Because you're a Bennett, you were used to killing Alistair, dragging the Powell family and the Bennett family into this mess."

Larry was stunned. He knew the situation in Aurora Citadel was complicated, but he hadn't realized it was this complex. The appearance of the Cabinet Room had thrown everything into chaos.

"So what is the Cabinet Room?" Larry asked.

Paisley shrugged, "Who knows? If we knew, we wouldn't be so passive. Tomorrow morning, a lot of people will probably visit the Bennett family, trying to figure out Grandpa's stance."

"Actually..." Paisley paused before continuing, "Grandpa has always stayed out of external affairs. This time, he got involved because he couldn't bear to see you dead at the Bennett family's doorstep. After all, you have Bennett blood in you."

Hearing this, Larry was even more confused. He thought back carefully. Since Alistair framed him, and during the public trial, the shadow had found him. Maybe from that moment, someone had planned to use him to get rid of Alistair. Alistair's death was the beginning of the chaos. The appearance of the Cabinet Room had made things even more complicated. Now, he couldn't tell who was good and who was bad.

"Can we trust King?" he asked naively.

Paisley shrugged, "It's not about trust. From their own perspective, everything they do is right. From the opposite perspective, everything they do is wrong."

After feeding Larry the medicine, Paisley said, "Alright, rest now. I'll leave."

She took the bowl and left.

Outside, in the courtyard, Cody sat in the pavilion, smoking a pipe, deep in thought. Paisley walked over and called, "Grandpa."

"Yes," Cody responded softly, then asked, "Paisley, what is the Cabinet Room? King used Larry to kill Alistair, and the Cabinet Room pushed the Bennett family into this mess. What are they trying to do?"

Paisley sat down and shook her head, "I don't dare to speculate."

"You've always been smart and insightful. Analyze the situation for me. How can the Bennett family protect itself in this chaos?"

Paisley thought for a moment and said, "Let's start with Mr. Strother. He's gathered many descendants of Gu, raising people and supporting Alistair in causing all this trouble. I think his real goal is to drag the Powell family into this."

"On the other hand, Mr. Nelson is dedicated to the country. Thirty years ago, he sacrificed the former Black Dragon to support the new King. He sees the Four Great Families and other factions as threats to Summer Nation. He must have known what Mr. Strother was doing but turned a blind eye, perhaps waiting for this moment."

"Mr. Strother's plan might be to complete the failed plan from a hundred years ago. But the existence of the Four Ancient Families threatens his plan, so he's trying to eliminate them."

"Mr. Nelson might be doing the same, so he's playing along."

"As for the Cabinet Room, I really don't understand it," Paisley said, her expression becoming serious as she thought deeply. After a while, she continued, "The Cabinet Room appeared when Larry killed Wystan, secretly helping him. Now, they impersonated the Bennett family to demand Larry from the Powell family and left him at the Bennett family's doorstep. Their goal is simple: to create a rift between the two families."

Cody nodded lightly, "Yes, very insightful. What about the other two families?"

Paisley shook her head, "They haven't made a move yet, but given the complexity of the situation, they'll be dragged in soon."

Cody asked, "What do you think I should do?"

"Stay calm and watch how things unfold," Paisley suggested.

Cody stood up, "Alright, it's late. You should rest too."
