Chapter 470 Thirty Years Ago It Was Solved
Paisley's explanation made everything clear to Larry.
The cultivation method described in the "Artwork of Moonlit" wasn't meant for a single person. Practicing it alone could lead to problems.
It required two people working together.
"However..."
Paisley looked serious as she continued, "Yin and Yang have to blend and complement each other for this method to work. It needs two different types of Qi. Esmeralda's body has the purest Yin and cold energy. If she can absorb the cold energy within her, she meets one condition. But we still need the purest Yang and strong Qi."
She turned to Larry and asked, "Larry, what kind of Qi do you have?"
"I... I don't know," Larry admitted, unsure of his own Qi.
"Let me feel it," Paisley suggested.
"How do I do that?" Larry asked.
"Just extend your hand and activate your Qi," Paisley instructed.
Larry did as he was told. As he extended his hand, Paisley placed her hand against his palm.
Larry activated his Qi, letting it flow through his meridians and into his palm.
Paisley sensed Larry's Qi. It was strong and dominant, but because he had absorbed cold energy to refine it, his Qi contained a hint of Yin, making it far from the pure Yang and strong Qi needed to complement Esmeralda's cold energy. This imbalance would cause issues with the "Artwork of Moonlit" cultivation method.
After sensing Larry's Qi, Paisley said, "That's enough."
Larry stopped and asked, "How is it?"
Paisley shook her head, "It's not suitable. Your Qi is too Yin and soft. It's not the pure Yang and strong Qi needed to complement Esmeralda's Qi. You can't cultivate this way."
"Do we really need two completely different types of Qi?" Larry asked, still confused.
"Yes, that's crucial," Paisley confirmed, nodding.
She fell into deep thought for a few seconds before saying, "I read in my family's ancient texts about a rare fruit called the Fire Lotus. It usually grows near volcanoes. If you can find it and consume it, it can transform your Qi into the purest Yang and strong Qi."
"Fire Lotus?" Larry was puzzled. He had never heard of such a thing.
"Searching for this elusive Fire Lotus just to practice the 'Artwork of Moonlit' seems unrealistic. I'll stick to my current method. It might not be worse than what's described in the 'Artwork of Moonlit'," Larry said confidently, trusting his knowledge of medical texts and the "Against Heaven 81 Needles."
Paisley replied, "It doesn't have to be this way. Let's have Esmeralda start practicing first. She can absorb the cold energy within her and cultivate her Qi. Then you two can try again and see if it works."
Esmeralda looked eager. She had learned a lot about Martial practitioners recently and knew they were powerful, moving like shadows.
"Esmeralda, I'll guide you for a while," Paisley said, looking at her.
"Okay," Esmeralda nodded enthusiastically.
Larry stood up and said, "You get dressed first. I'll head downstairs."
With that, he turned and left the room, heading downstairs.
Meanwhile, in a remote mountain in Summer Nation, two figures appeared.
One was an old man in a loose white outfit with short white hair. The other was a young woman in her late twenties, wearing a black dress with long dark brown hair.
"Richard, why'd you drag me all the way out here?" the woman asked.
The old man, Richard, looked at the mountain ahead. It was barren, with smoke rising from the top.
He pointed to the mountain and said, "This is a volcano that often spews lava. I'm here to find a rare plant."
The two were Richard and Chloe.
Chloe knew it was a volcano because she felt the heat as they approached. Despite it being winter, the area was hot, and sweat beaded on her face.
"What plant?" Chloe asked.
"Fire Lotus," Richard replied. "It only grows near volcanoes. It contains extreme heat. Ordinary people would burn up and die shortly after consuming it, but Martial practitioners can use it to transform their Qi into the purest Yang and strong Qi."
"I'm exhausted," Chloe said, sitting on a rock and fanning herself.
Richard stopped and looked at Chloe, "The Four Great Families guard four treasure maps. Each map contains mysterious cultivation techniques. The Bennett family's 'Artwork of Moonlit' requires two people to practice, a man with pure Yang and strong Qi, and a woman with pure Yin and cold Qi. Yin and Yang must blend to succeed. Larry has someone with a natural Yin and cold constitution, which is perfect, but his Qi isn't pure Yang and strong."
Chloe glanced at Richard, "Richard, did you crack the 'Artwork of Moonlit' secret?"
Richard smiled faintly, "I did, thirty years ago."
"So, you want Larry to learn it?" Chloe asked.
Richard nodded, "We're here to find the Fire Lotus. If we find it, you can take it back to Sunset City for Larry."
Chloe thought for a moment and asked, "You said you stole the Powell family's map and the Morgan family's map. Did you crack their secrets, too?"
Richard didn't answer. Instead, he looked at the mountains ahead and said softly, "I have two of the four maps. I've memorized the Bennett family's map, so it doesn't matter if I have it or not. But the Nelson family's map is hard to get."
Richard's face grew serious. The Nelson family wasn't the head of the Four Great Families, but it was the most mysterious.
The Nelson family had several bases in Summer Nation. Richard had spent decades trying to find their map but hadn't succeeded. The Nelson family's internal strength was formidable, even making Richard cautious. In a direct confrontation, he might not win.
"Let's go," Richard said, pulling Chloe up. With a leap, they soared into the air, covering 300 feet in a few jumps.
Soon, they reached halfway up the mountain. The heat was unbearable for Chloe, and she was drenched in sweat.
"Richard, it's too hot. I can't take it," Chloe said urgently.
"Then wait here. I'll go look for it," Richard said, seeing Chloe's condition. He set her down and instructed, "Stay put and don't wander."
"Okay," Chloe nodded.
Richard continued towards the summit.
