Chapter 308 Chloe's Transformation
Larry asked, "What's going on?"
Valerian explained, "Larry, here's the thing. This underground intelligence network was created by Grim Reaper, and its connections are extremely complex, involving various industries. There's a rumor in the underground world of Sunset City that any information can be exchanged for money with Grim Reaper. Because of this, Grim Reaper has long been on the radar of the relevant authorities."
"This underground intelligence network is illegal and has been involved in numerous illegal transactions."
"The authorities want to take it down completely, so over the years, they've planted many undercover agents. Now, I don't even know who the undercover agents are, which is why we've captured everyone left by Grim Reaper and are interrogating them one by one."
Valerian briefly explained the situation.
As he spoke, he pointed to a man tied up in front of them.
The man, in his forties, was hanging and covered in wounds, with blood dripping onto the ground.
He was barely alive at this point.
"One of our men discovered that he was secretly sending information about the underground intelligence network to an officer at the police department."
Larry walked over and personally untied the man.
The man lay on the ground, looked at Larry, and said coldly, "If you're going to kill me, just do it. If I flinch, I'm not a man."
Larry turned to Valerian and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Let them all go."
"Larry," Valerian was stunned.
Larry's face darkened, "Have you forgotten who you are? Do you really think you're part of the mob?"
"Okay," Valerian ordered, "Untie them immediately."
All the tied-up people were released.
Larry looked at the man lying on the ground, unable to get up, and asked, "How long have you been here?"
The man snorted coldly.
Larry said, "Let him go back."
"Okay."
Valerian nodded and looked at the people present, "Who are his accomplices? Hurry up and take him away."
None of Grim Reaper's remaining men admitted to being his accomplices.
There were indeed undercover agents among them.
But they knew that if they admitted it, they would never leave.
"Send him to the hospital. The rest of you, disperse."
After giving the order, Larry got up and left.
Valerian followed behind.
In an underground chamber, in a certain room, Valerian stood to the side and asked, "Larry, what are you doing? We can't expose what we're doing now. Do you really want to wait for the police to come and wipe us out?"
Larry glanced at Valerian and said calmly, "Even if they're undercover, there's no need to torture them like this. Don't forget you're a soldier yourself. They're our compatriots. Why make things difficult for our own people? As for this place being watched by the authorities, I'll give Free a heads-up and have him find a way to keep this task within the military. Once the issues in Sunset City are resolved, this underground intelligence network can be disbanded."
"Understood."
Larry lit a cigarette and continued, "But we still need to find the undercover agents. Find them all and send them out. Don't make things difficult for them; they're just doing their jobs, and it's not easy."
"But the people left by Grim Reaper have been with him for years, some even for over a decade. It's hard to tell who's undercover."
"Then fire them all," Larry said calmly.
"You're smart."
"I'm going to sleep. Don't make any noise and keep me awake." Larry got up and left.
Valerian immediately went to handle the matter.
He expelled all of Grim Reaper's remaining men.
At this point, the entire underground intelligence network was controlled by Larry's Black Dragon Army from Southwild.
These events quickly reached Grim Reaper's ears.
Matthew, seeing his underground intelligence network, which he had painstakingly built over decades, completely taken over by Larry, felt quite helpless.
Since the day Larry took over, he had anticipated this, but he didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
The next day.
Larry instructed Valerian to arrange for someone to take him back to the city.
The Lewis family.
Chloe woke up early.
Yesterday, she went to find Black Dragon but saw him being affectionate with Abigail. She was very sad and depressed.
She felt heartbroken, but after Maria's encouragement, she regained her confidence.
So, she woke up early and went shopping, buying many dresses.
They were all very sexy, things she never dared to wear before.
Larry returned to the city after 10 a.m.
He passed by a flower shop, bought ninety-nine roses, and walked towards the Lewis family's neighborhood with the bouquet.
Just as he reached the entrance, he saw two women approaching from a distance.
"Julia, thank you for shopping with me all morning," Chloe said, carrying several bags.
She wasn't very good at picking out clothes, so she had called Julia early in the morning.
With Julia's recommendations, she bought many clothes.
Even the dress she was wearing was bought that morning.
It was a yellow spaghetti-strap dress.
The dress was very short, revealing her long, fair legs.
There were only two straps on top, exposing her shoulders completely.
The neckline was low, even showing her bra.
Wearing this dress, she attracted a lot of attention, and some people were secretly taking photos with their phones.
At first, Chloe felt a bit embarrassed, but as she walked, she got used to the admiring glances from other men. She felt that this was the charm she deserved.
"It's nothing," Julia said with a smile. "Chloe, you should have dressed like this a long time ago. You're the most beautiful woman in Sunset City. Now that you're dressed like this, you'll drive countless people crazy. Plus, the Lewis family hopes you can get to know Black Dragon and lead the Lewis family to glory."
"I'll do my best."
Thinking of Black Dragon, a faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared on Chloe's face.
Larry had just reached the entrance of the neighborhood when he saw Chloe and Julia walking together. He quickly walked over with the bouquet of ninety-nine roses and handed them to Chloe.
With a smile, he said, "Chloe, these are for you."
Chloe's smile froze when she saw it was Larry, replaced by a look of disdain.
"Larry, what are you doing here?"
Larry, holding the roses, smiled and said, "Why can't I come? You're my wife."
Chloe said coldly, "You used to be. Not anymore. Larry, if you don't agree to the divorce, I'll file for a forced divorce in court, and you won't get a penny."
Julia, standing beside her, also looked at Larry with disdain and said, "Larry, what are you doing here, you loser? Don't you know that Chloe is out of your league now? Look at yourself."
Julia didn't give Larry any face at all.
Larry was slightly stunned.
Didn't Chloe see the other him being affectionate with Abigail yesterday?
Shouldn't she have given up?
Why is she still so cold to him?
"Chloe, how have I wronged you?" Larry looked at Chloe.
He tried to suppress his anger, keeping a smile on his face and trying to appear approachable.
Chloe shook her head and said, "You haven't wronged me. I've wronged you."
"We being together was a mistake from the start."
"You can't make me happy. Instead of being looked down upon in the Lewis family, wouldn't it be better for you to leave early?"
Chloe looked at Larry and said,
"Larry, I really appreciate you. I appreciate your silent contributions to the Lewis family. I tried to live a good life with you, but I don't feel any excitement being with you. Do you understand what it means to feel excited? I don't want to spend my life like this, with a man I don't love."
