Chapter 462 Paisley's Reminder
Larry was out of options and had no choice but to go back and wait for news.
He took a cab back to Esmeralda's house.
As soon as he walked in, Paisley asked, "How'd it go? Did you find her?"
Larry shook his head.
He walked over and sat down on the couch.
Esmeralda asked, "No luck?"
Paisley had used Qi to expel the excess cold from her body, so she wasn't feeling cold anymore and had returned to normal. Her face showed confusion.
Larry took out his phone and opened the surveillance video that Free had sent.
Paisley leaned in to watch.
Seeing the footage, she couldn't help but ask, "Who's that? Why'd Trinity leave with him?"
Larry's expression was unusually serious.
"Judging by his appearance, he should be my grandfather. But my grandfather died in a fire ten years ago. I've already asked Free to use his privileges to track him down and also engaged the underground intelligence network."
"Richard?"
Paisley exclaimed, her face showing disbelief. "You mean, he's your grandfather Richard?"
Larry nodded, then shook his head.
"He does look like him, but it's been ten years. My memory of my grandfather's appearance is a bit fuzzy, and I can't tell from this video if it's really him."
Paisley fell into thought.
So much had happened recently that she and Cody had suspected Richard might still be alive.
"Larry, I think it's very likely."
Larry looked at her and asked, "You think this is my grandfather Richard too?"
Paisley nodded. "A lot has happened recently, especially with the appearance of the Cabinet Room. We never knew who was behind it and couldn't find any information. My grandfather analyzed that the person causing trouble was likely Richard, assuming Richard is still alive. Now, seeing this person, and you saying he looks like your grandfather Richard, my grandfather's guess seems correct."
She took a deep breath.
"If he really is Richard, then some of the previous mysteries can be solved."
"What mysteries?" Larry asked.
Paisley explained, "You were captured by the Powell family, and they asked the Bennett family to rescue you. But my grandfather didn't step in. Instead, someone impersonated me, rescued you from the Powell family, and left you at the Bennett family's doorstep."
"So?" Larry looked at her, puzzled.
Paisley analyzed, "Ever since I met Chloe, I've been confused. How did she recognize me at first sight and know about your experiences at Aurora Citadel? I couldn't figure it out, but now I suddenly understand."
Larry's heart skipped a beat. "You mean, the person who rescued me from the Powell family was Chloe impersonating you?"
"Yes." Paisley nodded. "That's the only explanation that makes sense. If I'm right, Chloe has known about Richard's existence for a long time. But this is just a guess. To confirm it, you need to find Chloe."
Larry leaned back on the couch and closed his eyes, thinking carefully.
He remembered the day he killed Alistair.
The masked woman in the black dress.
At that moment, he had a feeling it was Chloe.
And the person who fought Amos.
His silhouette did resemble Richard's from the video.
Thinking about all this, Larry felt it might be true.
"I'll go ask Chloe."
Larry stood up.
"Wait." Paisley suddenly called out.
Larry looked at her.
Paisley thought for a moment and said, "If this guy really is your grandfather, and he's not coming out to see you but causing all this trouble, he must have some hidden agenda. I don't know him, but my grandfather said he was not a good person. If you go to Chloe recklessly, you might alert him."
"If he really is my grandfather, so what if I alert him? I believe he won't harm me."
Larry was confident.
Richard had always been kind to him. He taught him to read, guided him in medicine, and helped him learn the basics. Because of Richard's guidance, he had the foundation to quickly grasp the advanced medical texts.
"Larry, how can I make you believe me? The Bennett family feud was instigated by Richard. Do you know how many Bennett family members he killed? Do you know how many died at his hands? A person like that has no regard for family. Even if you're his grandson, if you stand in his way, he won't hesitate to eliminate you."
Paisley warned.
She didn't want Larry to be misled by familial affection and lose his judgment.
"I believe he's not like that. He must have his reasons." Larry shook his head.
He didn't believe what Paisley said. He knew Richard well. He had been with Richard for eighteen years and understood his character. Richard was not a person who killed indiscriminately.
Larry wouldn't listen, and Paisley had no choice but to sigh helplessly. "Do as you wish."
Larry turned and left.
After leaving Esmeralda's house, he immediately took out his phone and called Chloe.
The call connected quickly, and Chloe's pleasant voice came through, "Larry, what's up?"
"Where are you?" Larry asked seriously.
Chloe was at PaxGen Pharmaceuticals. Hearing Larry's tone, she put down her documents and asked, "I'm at PaxGen Pharmaceuticals. What's wrong? Did something happen?"
"Wait there. I'm coming to see you."
Larry hung up.
He took a cab to PaxGen Pharmaceuticals.
PaxGen Pharmaceuticals was created by Larry to counter VitaGen Medical, which was established by Abigail. The headquarters was a large eighteen-story building.
Larry walked in with a stern face.
Immediately, security guards blocked his way. "Stop. Who are you here to see?"
Larry stopped and said, "I'm here to see Abigail."
He initially wanted to say Chloe, but considering Chloe had only been with the company for a few days, the security guards might not know her.
The guard looked puzzled. "Do you have an appointment to see Ms. Abigail?"
Larry was anxious to find out the truth and didn't want to waste time with the guard. He bypassed the guard directly.
"Hey, stop..."
The guard pointed at Larry and then took out his walkie-talkie, shouting, "Quick, someone is trespassing."
Soon, several guards rushed over and blocked Larry's path.
Larry felt irritated.
It was because Trinity had been captured.
It was because he had learned Richard might still be alive and that Richard might be behind all this.
It was because Paisley said Richard was a terrible person.
He was desperate to ask Chloe.
"Get out of my way."
He growled.
"Take him down."
With the security captain's order, dozens of guards moved in.
"Stop, what are you doing?"
Just as the fight was about to break out, Abigail stepped out of the elevator and saw the scene, immediately shouting.
