Chapter 440 Strange Painting

Larry was buzzing with excitement.

He couldn't wait to uncover the secrets of the Moonlit Artwork.

Sitting in his wheelchair, he opened the box in his hands, took out the ancient scroll, and unfurled it, examining the figures depicted on it.

The figures varied in posture—some standing, some holding objects, some squatting.

Each figure was marked with white dots and red lines.

Larry knew that the white dots represented acupuncture points, while the red lines indicated meridians.

It was a diagram of meridians and acupuncture points.

It made sense.

Larry was well-versed in human anatomy.

The connections between the meridians and acupuncture points on the diagram were bizarre, completely inexplicable by modern medicine.

Previously, he didn't understand their significance, but after studying the second volume of the medical classic, he learned methods to cultivate Qi and how to control it. He then understood the meaning of these meridian diagrams.

They represented the pathways of Qi within the body.

He wanted to give it a try.

He attempted to summon Qi, but his body was empty, devoid of any Qi.

Moreover, as soon as he tried, a sharp pain surged through his body, contorting his face and causing him to fall from his wheelchair.

He collapsed to the ground, letting out a cry of agony.

But in the vast basement, he was alone. No one was there to help him. It took him a great effort to crawl back up and sit in his wheelchair again.

His face was pale, sweat beads rolling down his forehead, his clothes soaked with sweat.

He panted heavily, cursing under his breath, "Damn the Powell family, they shattered the Qi I had cultivated and severed my meridians. If it weren't for the Bennett family's intervention, I'd be dead by now."

After cursing, Larry didn't immediately resume his research. Instead, he closed his eyes to rest.

Outside.

Cody sat on a stone bench in the backyard.

Sirius approached, calling softly, "Grandpa."

"Yeah?" Cody nodded gently.

Sirius sat down and asked, "Grandpa, do you think Larry can uncover the secrets of the Moonlit Artwork?"

Cody shook his head. "I don't know. We're just letting him try. He has exceptional insight, so maybe he will. Besides, we haven't confirmed if the Moonlit Artwork contains martial arts secrets. Perhaps we need all four pieces to unlock it."

Sirius nodded thoughtfully and then asked, "Grandpa, who do you think hired the grave robbers to steal from Victor Veil's Tomb? And who could have obtained the address and detailed layout of Victor Veil's Tomb?"

Cody's expression grew serious.

This was something he had been pondering for a long time.

The records about Victor Veil's Tomb in the ancient texts of the Four Great Families were scarce.

How could outsiders know about it?

Sirius suggested, "Could it be someone from the Four Great Families?"

"Hmm?" Cody glanced at him and asked, "Who do you suspect?"

Sirius quickly replied, "I wouldn't dare to speculate."

Cody waved his hand slightly, saying, "There's no one else here. Speak freely."

Sirius nodded gently, thought for a moment, and said, "Grandpa, you mentioned that Richard was a martial arts prodigy, cultivating Qi at a young age. Although he was crippled, he was still a genius. Could it be that after leaving the Bennett family, he regained his abilities? If so, the fire ten years ago might have been his doing, and he could have survived."

Cody's face grew serious. He had considered this possibility, but it was just suspicion without evidence.

"Are you suggesting that Richard orchestrated all of this, including the Cabinet Room?"

Sirius nodded, "It's just a guess, a possibility. Without concrete evidence, we can't be sure."

"Alright, go rest. And remember to bring food to Larry on time," Cody said, waving his hand to dismiss Sirius.

"Yes, Grandpa."

Sirius stood up and started to leave.

"Wait..."

Cody remembered something and called out, "Hold on."

"Grandpa, do you have any other instructions?"

Cody said, "Your martial arts skills are also quite high. If you have time, you can visit the secret room. If you can gain any insights, that would be great."

Sirius knelt down promptly, saying, "Grandpa, I wouldn't dare."

Cody waved his hand slightly, saying, "Stand up. I permit it."

"But Grandpa, I'm not a member of the Bennett family. I don't have Bennett family blood. The Bennett family ancestral rules..." Sirius looked troubled.

Cody said, "This is a different era. We don't need to adhere to those unwritten ancestral rules. Even though you're not a Bennett family member, you grew up in the Bennett family. I've always treated you like my own grandson. You've been by my side all these years, offering advice. I'm just asking you to try. Whether you gain any insights depends on you."

"Yes, Grandpa."

Sirius stood up.

Cody waved his hand slightly, "You may go."

Sirius turned and left.

Cody stared into the distance, lost in thought about Sirius's words.

His guess wasn't impossible.

If Richard were indeed alive, everything would make sense.

"Let's hope it's not him," Cody murmured softly, then stood up and left.

In the underground secret room.

Larry rested for a while before regaining his strength.

He looked at the meridian diagram again, but couldn't make sense of it. Finally, his gaze settled on the Artwork of Moonlit on the wall.

The scene in the painting was simple.

A mountain, a flower, a simple wooden house, and a bright moon hanging in the sky.

The mountain stretched endlessly, seemingly without end.

At the foot of the mountain was the wooden house, depicted clearly despite the passage of a thousand years. Even the patterns on the wooden door were visible.

The flower's position was peculiar.

Above the wooden house, below the bright moon.

The flower was white, as if it had suddenly appeared in mid-air, blooming unexpectedly.

The scene in the painting was during the day.

But the sky held a moon instead of the sun.

This defied logic.

Larry stared at the Artwork of Moonlit, not missing a single detail.

But apart from noticing some illogical elements, he found nothing unusual.

"It's just a simple painting. How could it be related to the meridian diagram? There's no text or recorded techniques," Larry murmured softly.

He continued to ponder the Artwork of Moonlit.

He didn't know how long he had been thinking.

Footsteps approached.

"Larry, it's time to eat," a pleasant voice called out.

Larry snapped out of his thoughts, turned his wheelchair, and saw Paisley entering with a tray of food.

Paisley placed the food on the ground and asked, "Any discoveries?"

Larry shook his head slightly, smiling bitterly, "It's not that easy. If it were, the secrets of the Artwork of Moonlit would have been uncovered long ago."

"True," Paisley nodded. "You must be hungry. Eat something first."
