Chapter 156 I Really Didn't Take It Seriously
Kellan's face darkened. Someone daring to hit his subordinate on his turf was an absolutely reckless move.
"Do you know where you are?" he threatened with a hateful expression. "This is Neon City. I don't care who you are. In Neon City, you need to keep a low profile. Apologize now, and I might consider letting you go."
Chloe quickly pulled Larry back when she saw him hit someone. "Honey, let it go."
Larry didn't want to argue with Kellan either, so he nodded.
Kellan's gaze then fell on Chloe, and he was instantly captivated by her beauty. He glanced at Larry and then at Chloe, who looked worried. He sneered, "Do you think you can get out of this so easily?"
Kellan took out his phone and made a call.
Larry didn't want to get entangled with these people and so started to pull Chloe out of the shop.
Kellan said, "Stop them."
The other bodyguard quickly went up to punch Larry.
Larry turned around. In an instant, he leaped into the air and kicked the bodyguard squarely in the head.
The bodyguard was sent flying into the counter, shattering it instantly. Some expensive herbs scattered all over the floor.
Larry landed steadily on the ground.
Kellan was shocked. He knew the strength of his two bodyguards. Seeing them defeated, he knew he had encountered a formidable opponent today. But this was Neon City, the territory of the Martinez family, so Kellan was fearless.
He thought, 'He can beat two, but can he beat twenty, or two hundred?' as his expression became terrifyingly dark.
The surrounding customers were all stunned. 'Is he that strong? He took down two big guys in an instant.'
Larry had a playful smile on his face. "Do you still want me to buy your herbs?"
Kellan's expression darkened. He didn't speak but glanced at Callista beside him and ordered, "Calculate how much damage he caused and charge him a hundred times the cost."
"Got it." Callista immediately started calculating.
Larry was also intrigued. He wanted to see what else Kellan would do.
Chloe was worried and kept tugging at Larry, whispering, "Honey, this is Neon City. Don't cause trouble. Let's just buy our stuff and leave."
Larry waved his hand slightly and said, "Don't worry, honey. This is a society governed by law. I don't believe he can do anything to me."
Kellan laughed out loud. "A society governed by law? In this store, my word is law."
Larry looked indifferent and sat down.
Chloe was anxious. She kept trying to persuade him, but Larry wouldn't listen. She had no choice but to step aside and secretly call the police.
Kellan saw her do this but didn't stop her. Instead, he sneered. 'Call the police? Will that help? This is Neon City. The Martinez family is powerful here. When the police arrive, they will only arrest these two.'
Soon, Callista finished calculating. "The total damage is twenty thousand dollars worth of precious herbs."
Kellan also sat down. He crossed his legs and popped a cigar between his lips. His two bodyguards had already stood up and were standing behind him.
Kellan looked at Larry and sneered, "Did you hear that? You caused twenty thousand dollars worth of damage. At a hundred times the cost, that's two million dollars."
Larry's attire was ordinary, but Chloe was dressed in designer clothes worth over ten thousand dollars. With such attire, Kellan surmised that they must be wealthy. Extorting two million dollars seemed entirely reasonable.
He wasn't afraid of Chloe's background. No matter how influential she was, it was nothing compared to the Martinez family.
Larry looked nonchalant. By now, the staff had cleared out the customers, leaving only Larry and Chloe on the second floor.
Just then, hurried footsteps were heard, followed by dozens of armed men rushing up to the second floor.
"Kellan." A man in his twenties approached and greeted Kellan.
Seeing the dozens of people, Chloe turned pale with fear, but Larry remained calm.
Kellan laughed and stood up. "Let's see how arrogant you are now. Apologize immediately. I promise to not beat you badly, and once your lady has spent a few days with me, I will consider this whole thing over. Otherwise..."
Larry's face darkened instantly. He could tolerate trouble directed at him, but not someone coveting Chloe.
"Otherwise, what?" Larry stood up.
"Honey..." Chloe quickly pulled him back and urged, "Don't be impulsive. They have the numbers. We'll suffer. I've already called the police. They should be here soon."
Kellan laughed. "The police will not be coming today."
Chloe sensed something and her expression changed. She wanted to pull Larry out of the store, but they were surrounded by armed men. Her face turned pale.
Larry's face darkened, and he said coldly, "If I don't teach you a lesson, you'll forever remain this arrogant."
"Beat him!" With Kellan's shout, dozens of armed men descended on Larry.
Chloe screamed in fear and closed her eyes.
Larry grabbed Chloe and quickly charged in Kellan's direction. As he charged, he punched out swiftly, hitting the nearest enemy in the chest. The man flew backward and crashed into several of his cohorts.
Larry picked up Chloe, jumped high, and kicked someone away. Then he stepped on someone's shoulder and appeared in front of Kellan.
He put Chloe down and grabbed Kellan, throwing him forcefully into the oncoming crowd.
The second floor was filled with the sounds of painful screams and things breaking.
A few minutes later, dozens of people were lying on the ground.
Larry had already sat down. Chloe was nestled in his arms, eyes closed, holding his shoulders tightly. She didn't dare open her eyes.
When it was quiet, Chloe opened her eyes and saw a familiar face. She sighed in relief, "Are you okay?"
Realizing she was holding Larry's shoulders, she blushed and quickly let go. She stood up and turned around, seeing the dozens of people lying on the ground and the messy pharmacy with herbs scattered everywhere. She screamed in fear and jumped back into Larry's arms.
Larry hugged her and smiled. "It's okay. I'm not boasting, but I didn't take these people seriously."
"Do you know who I am?" Kellan stumbled and stood up from the ground.
Larry picked up a cup from the table and threw it forcefully.
The cup hit Kellan in head, cutting him, and blood instantly started gushing out. He collapsed, covered his face, and rolled around in pain.
Chloe turned pale and quickly said, "Honey, let's go. If the police come, you're done for."
Larry waved his hand slightly and said, "No worries. It seems there's collusion between the police and merchants in Sunset City. It's time to clean it up."
In fact, the police had already arrived. But they had remained outside because Kellan had told them to.
Kellan rolled on the ground in pain and roared, "If I don't kill you, my name isn't Kellan Martinez!"
He took out his phone and made a call. "Captain Roberts, bring your surbodinates up quickly. My store is being trashed."
