Chapter 418 Shadow Reappears

Abigail had always had a soft spot for Larry.

Larry was different from other guys; he was dedicated to his country and incredibly loyal.

If this situation had happened to someone else, they might have chosen Chloe and secretly dated Trinity, maybe even been with her.

But Larry only chose one, which is why he was so conflicted and torn.

She had tried to win him over.

But Larry didn't choose her.

She had no regrets.

"What's up with Chloe's health? It's been so long, and she's still fine. Could it be that she wasn't poisoned?" Abigail asked.

Larry shook his head.

He didn't know if Chloe had been poisoned or not.

Because he couldn't detect it.

If she was poisoned, he would only know when the symptoms appeared.

"Forget it, this is your personal matter. You handle it. No matter who you choose, I'll support you," Abigail said softly, hinting that besides Chloe and Trinity, there was another woman by his side.

"I know. I'll think it over carefully and handle my feelings properly."

Larry looked at Abigail with gratitude.

During this time, Abigail had helped him a lot.

Without her, he might not have made it through.

"I'm heading back to the office," Abigail said, waving goodbye to Larry.

Larry watched her leave.

Only after she was out of sight did he turn and head back to the hospital.

He returned to the hospital room.

He kept thinking about his feelings.

But the problem was too complicated.

He really couldn't figure it out.

Trinity was exhausted and had fallen asleep.

Larry, who hadn't slept all night, dozed off on the couch.

He didn't know how long he had slept when a phone call woke him up.

He woke up, took out his phone, and saw it was Chloe calling. After a moment's hesitation, he answered, "Hey, what's up? Everything okay?"

Chloe's voice came through the phone, "Babe, where are you? You didn't come home last night, and it's already noon. I'm off today and made some soup. Are you coming home for lunch?"

Larry glanced at the still-sleeping Trinity and whispered, "I'm busy right now. I can't come back."

"Larry, what do you mean? I took the day off to spend time with you. Given your health, what could you be doing outside?" Chloe complained.

"There's really something going on. A lot happened last night. I'll explain later."

Larry had planned to stay with the Lewis family, pretending to be useless to deceive Alistair.

But after what happened, he had a direct confrontation with Alistair, so there was no need to keep up the pretense.

He needed to explain everything to Chloe and be honest with her.

"Can you come back tonight? We could watch a movie."

"We'll see."

Larry didn't commit immediately.

With Trinity's condition, he really couldn't leave.

Leaving would break Trinity's heart.

He hung up the phone.

"Larry…"

A weak voice called out.

Larry looked over and saw that Trinity was awake. She could probably guess that it was Chloe who had called.

Larry walked over.

Trinity, lying in bed, looked at him and said, "If you're busy, you should go. I'll be fine on my own."

Larry smiled slightly, "I'm not busy."

"Was it Chloe who called? You didn't come home last night. She must be worried. You should go see her."

"It's really nothing," Larry reassured her softly. "Don't overthink it."

Trinity knew that Larry stayed because she was hurt.

She also knew that Larry must be worried about Chloe at home. She didn't want to make things difficult for Larry because of her.

"Larry, listen to me."

Trinity said gently, "Don't feel burdened. As long as you don't push me away and let me stay by your side, that's enough. Once you're fully recovered and after the election, I'll leave."

She smiled as she spoke.

"Actually, I've been thinking about studying abroad for a while."

The more Trinity said this, the less Larry could leave.

"It's really fine. I'll explain everything to Chloe. We're already divorced, but she's also poisoned. I can't leave her. Once her symptoms appear and I'm stronger, I'll cure her and then end things with her."

Larry had made up his mind.

There was no future for him and Chloe.

He couldn't let Chloe ruin his chance with a better woman.

Trinity was happy that Larry stayed, a smile she didn't even notice forming on her lips.

At the Lewis family home.

After calling Larry, Chloe sat on the couch, fuming.

"Where did Larry go all night?"

She didn't know what Larry was doing or where he was.

After thinking for a moment, she called Abigail.

Abigail was on her way to Pax Gen Pharmaceuticals.

When she got Chloe's call, she put it on speaker and asked, "What's up?"

"Is Larry with you?" Chloe demanded.

"Are you kidding?" Abigail said. "Chloe, you're overthinking. I haven't been in touch with Larry lately, and he's not with me."

"If he's not with you, where could he be?"

"Chloe, you never really understood Larry. You two aren't a good match."

"It's not up to you to decide if we're a match. You must know where he is. Tell me. He's very weak and needs me."

Abigail thought for a moment.

She knew Larry's plan.

He wanted to use his position as the Lewis family's son-in-law as a cover while he worked in secret. But now that he had openly clashed with Alistair, it was time for a real showdown.

She also felt that Larry and Chloe needed to end things. It wasn't fair to Trinity otherwise.

"Larry's at the military hospital. A lot happened last night. You should ask him yourself."

With that, she hung up.

Chloe frowned.

"What happened last night?"

At the military hospital.

Larry was chatting with Trinity.

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Larry called.

A middle-aged man in black clothes and a baseball cap walked in.

His steps were so light they were almost silent.

"I knew you'd come."

Larry looked at the man, stood up, and pointed to the couch, "Have a seat."

The man sat down and glanced at Trinity.

Larry said, "She's one of us. Speak freely."
