Chapter 373 Action Begins
Larry came to see Alistair to figure out his intentions.
Alistair's reaction was intense.
Larry could now roughly guess Alistair's purpose.
Alistair had close ties with the Gu-raising people.
And there was a secret research base in Sunset City.
Even the Grim Reaper's intelligence couldn't penetrate it.
Now he roughly knew that this research base was likely related to Gu.
"Take a look around," Larry instructed Abigail.
Abigail nodded and pushed Larry around.
Alistair got into his car.
The driver drove away.
He sat in the back seat, a somber look on his face.
He hadn't expected Larry to be so sharp. Just because he was infected with Gu, he could understand so much.
It was something from a hundred years ago, and not many people knew about it.
One could even say that those who knew these secrets were all dead. How did Larry know?
Now, Larry was crippled.
But Larry's visit today made him feel a renewed sense of crisis.
He thought he should find an opportunity to kill Larry to eliminate future troubles.
Larry also knew that coming to see Alistair would definitely attract his attention, putting him in danger.
But he had to come because he wasn't sure about his suspicions. Only by understanding what Alistair was up to could he come up with a countermeasure.
Abigail pushed him around Alistair's mansion, and he kept thinking.
He felt that Alistair alone might not be able to execute such a grand plan.
If the plan succeeded, it would overturn the world.
He thought there might be someone behind Alistair.
Or rather, Alistair had accomplices, and they were all high-ranking, powerful figures.
Thinking about this gave Larry a headache, and he couldn't help but rub his forehead.
"Larry, are you thinking again?"
Abigail's scolding voice came from behind, "I've warned you, the virus in your body is strange. If you can avoid moving, don't move. Your body can't move, and your brain can't overthink. The more active your brain cells are, the faster the virus invades your brain."
"Got it."
Larry rubbed his forehead and nodded lightly, instructing, "There's nothing much to see here. Let's go back. I'm feeling a bit tired and want to sleep."
"Okay." Abigail pushed Larry away.
They soon returned to the hotel.
Larry lay on the bed, motionless.
Abigail, worried about his fatigue, massaged him on the side.
Larry didn't stop her, closing his eyes and enjoying it seriously.
Unknowingly, he fell asleep.
After he fell asleep, Abigail stopped.
She sat by the bed, quietly watching Larry.
Larry looked very different from before. He used to seem lazy but spirited. Now, even in his sleep, he looked exhausted.
Seeing Larry's pale, tired face, she felt heartache and couldn't help but reach out to touch his face. But her hand didn't touch Larry's face because he was very sensitive now, and she was afraid of waking him.
"Maybe this is the only way I can stay by your side. I don't know if, after the Aurora Citadel incident, when you return to Sunset City, I'll still have the chance to push you. You'll probably go find Chloe."
Abigail murmured softly.
Larry was very tired and slept deeply.
He slept until noon.
He woke up hungry.
Abigail knew his condition well. As soon as he woke up, he smelled delicious food.
"Awake? The food is here."
Larry moved slightly, leaning against the bed, looking at Abigail sitting beside him, a smile on his pale face, "You're so considerate. If you left, I'd probably starve. Luckily, you're back."
"I just couldn't find a job, so I'm here to take care of you for a few days."
Abigail's face turned slightly red.
Her heart kept racing.
Was this what love feels like?
She felt like she was in love.
Larry got up, sat by the bed, picked up a fork from the table, and started eating.
After eating, he lay down to rest while Abigail cleaned up.
He didn't go out all day.
It was boring in the hotel, but luckily, Abigail was there, constantly telling jokes to make him happy.
Time passed quickly.
Soon, it was the day of the action.
That night.
Larry stood on the balcony, looking at the brightly lit city ahead.
Abigail came over with a large coat, draping it over Larry, reminding him, "It's fall, and the weather's getting cooler. With your current condition, you can't catch a cold. The doctor said that if you catch a cold, the consequences could be severe."
Larry looked at the night city ahead.
"Look, how beautiful Aurora Citadel is at night."
"You still have the mood to marvel at this? Tonight, they're going to act. If it fails, it's a death sentence."
"Man proposes, God disposes," Larry said softly.
He looked towards the direction of the Grand Hall.
Then he checked the time.
The time on his phone was 8:59 PM.
He stared intently.
At nine o'clock.
An explosion came from the direction of the Grand Hall.
It caused a commotion.
The entire city district was filled with the sound of warning sirens.
Immediately, Larry saw many police cars and military vehicles appearing on the streets outside.
"Let's go back to the room."
Larry knew the action had begun.
He had planned everything thoroughly.
Now his people had infiltrated the Legion of Flame Surge and were in charge of guarding the dungeon. As long as nothing unexpected happened, they would succeed.
Aurora Citadel, suburban dungeon.
In the distance, the military district's sirens blared.
The Legion of Flame Surge at the dungeon entrance was slightly stunned.
"What's going on?"
"Did something major happen?"
"The sirens from the military district mean something big happened in the city, and the army is mobilized."
At this moment, a team approached.
This team had more than thirty people.
Leading them was a middle-aged man in a battle robe, with a high military rank on his shoulder.
"Stay alert and hold your positions. Don't ask unnecessary questions."
"Yes."
The Legion of Flame Surge at the dungeon entrance immediately stood straight and responded in unison.
The general instructed, "Open the dungeon gate for a routine inspection."
The guards at the entrance immediately opened the dungeon gate, and the team of more than thirty people entered the dungeon.
They kept moving deeper into the dungeon.
After going deep into the dungeon, the area suddenly lost power.
The Legion of Flame Surge guarding the entrance saw the power outage and instructed, "Go check the circuit breaker."
Inside the dungeon.
Most of the team of more than thirty people instantly fell to the ground.
In the darkness, a few figures moved quickly.
These figures soon reached Alden's cell, took out a key, and opened the iron cell.
Alden had been waiting in the dungeon for days.
Although he was imprisoned, he had already bribed the Legion of Flame Surge, and someone informed him of the outside events.
He knew Larry was on trial and that Larry wasn't dead. He had been waiting.
Waiting for Larry to rescue him.
Now, seeing soldiers in Legion of Flame Surge uniforms opening the door, he knew Larry had come to save him.
"Take this."
A soldier in Legion of Flame Surge uniform approached, holding out a pill.
Alden didn't hesitate and swallowed it immediately.
Seeing Alden take the pill, the soldier unlocked the chains on his hands and feet, whispering, "Let's go, stay close."
