Chapter 54 Getting into Trouble

The Lewis family left early in the morning.

Their goal today was to buy a car, a luxury car.

They visited many luxury car dealerships and tested many cars: Mercedes, BMW, Audi, all the well-known brands.

However, they still didn't find one they liked.

Either the cars were too low-end, or too high-end and unaffordable.

Today, there happened to be a car show in Sunset City.

Luxury cars were gathered here.

The Lewis family arrived.

Sam couldn't take his eyes off the luxury cars. "Ferrari, Bentley, Maybach, Bugatti Veyron."

He looked at the sexy and glamorous car models in front of the luxury cars, with envy in his eyes. "When can we buy a real luxury car? A car worth over 100 thousand dollars is just trash compared to these."

Maria slapped him on the forehead and scolded, "Stop dreaming. A car worth over ten thousand dollars is good enough. Why did you bring us here? Don't think I don't know, the cars here are worth around a million dollars."

Sam laughed. "Mom, I'm just showing you some luxury cars. It doesn't cost anything to look."

"This car is so beautiful." Chloe was instantly captivated by a red Ferrari and took out her phone to snap a few photos.

The family wandered around the car show, taking pictures of the expensive luxury cars with their phones.

After a round, they left.

The cars here were too expensive for them to afford.

Finally, they went to a Maserati dealership, carefully selected a car, and spent 300 thousand dollars on a Maserati.

After paying, Maria had only a few thousand dollars left in her account.

They didn't even have money for insurance.

She frowned and said, "I told you a car worth over ten thousand dollars was enough, but you insisted on buying such an expensive one. Now we have no money left."

Sam comforted her, "Mom, we'll soon get 50% of the family shares. Then we'll have money. Let's drive home, and I'll take you for a ride in the luxury car."

Thinking that her family finally owned a luxury car and that she would be respected when visiting her family, Maria softened.

After paying, Sam drove the car, taking the family for a ride around the city.

He drove loudly, afraid that others wouldn't know he had just bought a luxury car.

After just ten minutes, while waiting at a red light, he was driving too fast and reacted a bit slowly. By the time he braked, the car had already rear-ended another vehicle.

Hearing the crash, Sam panicked.

Everyone in the car turned pale.

The car they had just bought, without insurance, had rear-ended another car.

Sam got out of the car with a stern face.

At the same time, the driver of the front car also got out.

He was a man in his forties, a bit overweight, dressed plainly but with an air of authority.

"What are you doing? How could you brake suddenly and cause me to rear-end you? Do you know how much my car is worth? Over 300 thousand dollars..." Seeing the paint on his bumper scratched and dented, Sam felt heartbroken and started cursing.

The man silently glanced at Sam's car, then at the furious Sam.

With a nonchalant expression, he said, "My car isn't that expensive, just a limited edition Maybach worth a million dollars. Do you want to settle this through insurance or privately?"

Sam was stunned.

He had only been concerned about his car and hadn't noticed the other car.

Seeing it now, he turned pale and exclaimed, "Oh my God."

Scott, Maria, Chloe, and Mindy got out of the car one after another.

Seeing that they had hit a limited edition Maybach, they all turned pale with fear.

Jacob Moore was not a good person; he was the underground emperor of Sunset City.

He was involved in illegal businesses, and now, before he even spoke, Sam had already blamed him.

Jacob said, "I was waiting at the red light, and you rear-ended me. Not only that, but you also have a bad attitude and slandered me."

He glanced at Sam's car, noticing it didn't even have a license plate or insurance sticker, and laughed.

He added, "Did you just buy it? Sell this car and add another 700 thousand dollars, and that should cover it."

Sam's legs went weak, and he knelt on the ground. "I'm sorry, please forgive me. I spent all my savings on this car. I don't have any more money to pay."

"No money? Then you shouldn't be so arrogant." Jacob kicked Sam to the ground and started punching and kicking him.

"Stop hitting him." Mindy rushed over and tried to pull Jacob away.

Jacob slapped her, knocking her to the ground.

Sam got up again, ignoring the pain, and knelt, begging for mercy.

Maria walked over with a stern face and slapped Sam on the head. "Useless! I shouldn't have agreed to buy this car."

After scolding him, she looked at the middle-aged, angry Jacob with a pleading expression. "Look, it's not a big deal. I have five thousand dollars in my account. Can I give you that?"

"Five thousand dollars?" Jacob's face darkened. "Do you think I'm a beggar?"

Maria cautiously asked, "Then, how much do you want?"

Jacob pointed at Sam's new Maserati. "I said, sell this car and add 700 thousand dollars. Since you can buy a car worth over thirty thousand dollars, you should have some money. If not, borrow it as soon as possible. Otherwise, the consequences will be severe."

He was being low-key now. After all, he didn't know the identities of these people. If they had connections, he might be in trouble, because he had done illegal things in the past.

Now he was trying to stay low-key and avoid offending people.

After speaking, Jacob got into his car and made a call, "I'm on Skyline Road. Send some people over."

This was the city center, and at a red light intersection. The rear-end collision had caused a traffic jam.

The police arrived quickly, took photos, and asked both parties to move their cars to the side.

On the roadside.

Sam and Mindy knelt, begging Jacob for mercy. But Jacob remained unmoved.

At that moment, a van arrived, and several fierce-looking men got out and approached Jacob. "Mr. Moore."

Jacob pointed at the kneeling Sam and said calmly, "Take him away."

"Yes." The men forcibly dragged Sam into the van.

Jacob turned to Scott, Maria, Chloe, and Mindy and said calmly, "Bring a million dollars to The Majestic Union by midnight to ransom him, or you'll be collecting his body."

"Mom, what should we do? Think of something," Mindy cried anxiously.

Maria was at a loss.

Chloe was also anxious. She took out her phone and called Larry.

Larry had bought groceries and was cooking at home.

When he received Chloe's call, he asked, "Chloe, are you coming back? Dinner is almost ready."

"Larry, something bad happened. Sam is in trouble."

Larry was stunned and asked, "What happened?"

Chloe, with a sobbing voice, said, "We bought a car, and shortly after driving it, Sam accidentally rear-ended a limited edition Maybach worth a million dollars. Now Sam is held fully responsible, and the car isn't insured. Sam was beaten and taken away. What should we do?"

"Don't worry, where are you? I'll come right away."

"On Skyline Road."

"Okay, don't worry. I'm coming."

Larry hung up, turned off the electric stove, and quickly left the house, taking a cab to Skyline Road.
