Chapter 29 Sending Invitations
Outside the Lewis family villa.
"Enough." Chloe suddenly shook off Larry's hand, looking at him with tears in her eyes. "Larry, this is the Lewis family. Grandpa wants you to kneel, so you kneel. Why are you so stubborn?"
"Chloe, I..."
"Go back by yourself."
Chloe didn't say much more, turned around, and re-entered the villa.
Larry looked helpless.
He, the mighty Black Dragon, had never been treated like this before. But for Chloe, he chose to endure.
He knew that in Chloe's eyes, her family's opinion mattered more than anything. As she went back in, he didn't follow but waited outside.
He sat on the steps outside the villa, lit a cigarette, and took out his phone to call Frank, "I need to see Free King."
Now, the only thing he could do was to get Chloe an invitation.
This way, her status in the family would rise, and she would be happy.
Soon, Frank called back, "Mr. Bennett, it's arranged. Free King wants to meet you personally. You name the time."
"Tonight, Blossom Garden."
"Yes, I'll call Free King right away."
After talking to Frank, Larry waited outside. The Lewis family's meeting lasted for over an hour.
After more than an hour, the Lewis family members started to leave, and Chloe's family came out as well.
They were all very angry, and Maria even blamed Larry, demanding that Chloe divorce him.
Sam was angriest. His dad's shares would definitely be passed on to him in the future.
Now, because of Larry, Victor had taken back half of the shares, which were worth millions of dollars.
"Larry, you're such a loser." Sam glared at Larry fiercely.
"Alright, stop blaming Larry. He was just trying to help me." Chloe had calmed down. She had been too impulsive earlier, and now she felt quite sorry for Larry. Larry was helping her, and she had blamed him.
Larry just smiled and said, "Chloe, it's okay. Don't worry, I will definitely get an invitation for the Lewis family. Then your status in the family will rise."
No one believed his words.
"If this happens again, I won't forgive you," Maria scolded him and then turned to leave.
Back home, no one in the family wanted to see Larry.
He stood alone on the balcony, smoking.
Scott came over. "Larry, don't take it to heart. You'll get used to it over time."
Larry glanced at Scott but didn't say anything. To be so weak, perhaps only Scott in the world could be like this.
He wisely didn't say anything more.
During the day, Larry stayed at home, cleaning and cooking, enjoying a leisurely time. He didn't care about the Lewis family's opinion of him; he only cared about Chloe.
In the evening, Larry found an excuse to go out.
In a pavilion in downtown, Blossom Garden.
Two people were sitting there.
"Did you kill Frederick?" One asked.
"Yes." The other one nodded.
Facing Free King's question, Larry didn't deny it and said, "He deserved to die, and so did the Hall Family."
Free King frowned and then asked, "Why did you want to see me this time?"
"Nothing major. The Lewis family wants an invitation to your succession ceremony. Send one over." After saying that, Larry stood up to leave.
Although he and Free King were on the same level, he never took Free King seriously.
Not just Free King, even if the other four leaders gathered, he might not take them seriously.
"Wait," Free King spoke, stopping Larry from leaving.
Larry stopped and looked at him. "What? Is there something else?"
"Frederick was under my command," Free King said with considerable anger. Frederick was his subordinate, and now Larry had killed Frederick without even offering an explanation.
"So what?" Larry's expression was indifferent.
"Aren't you going to give me an explanation?"
"I said he deserved to die. I'm not begging you for the invitation. Whether you give it or not is up to you." With that, Larry turned and walked away.
After he left, a man emerged from the shadows. "Free King, he's way too arrogant."
Free King waved his hand slightly and smiled bitterly. "That's just how he is. Don't even mention me; even if the Aurora Emperor came, Larry might not take him seriously. Let's drop this matter. Frederick indeed brought it upon himself. You go personally to the Lewis family and deliver an invitation."
The man was unwilling and asked, "Free King, are we just going to let this go?"
Free King glanced at him and said, "What else can we do? Kill him? Although he has submitted his resignation, it hasn't been approved yet. Besides, he is the Black Dragon, the commander of the million-strong Black Dragon Army. Even though he has held the title for the shortest time, the combined strength of the other four armies might not match the Black Dragon Army. And the Black Dragon Army follows his lead; the higher-ups hold him in very high regard."
"Yes, I'll head to the Lewis family right away," The man said no more.
Free King sighed. "The reorganization of the five regions has once again put us in a dangerous position."
The reorganization of the five regions was not supposed to be his responsibility, but the Black Dragon had anticipated this arrangement and applied for resignation in advance.
Meanwhile, outside the Lewis family villa.
A Jeep drove up, and several men in military uniforms got out and walked to the Lewis family's door, knocking.
Victor saw the soldiers on the surveillance and immediately went to greet them personally, "Is there something you need?"
The last visit from Frederick had left a deep shadow.Victor was cautiously inquiring, worried about another incident.
A middle-aged man in a military uniform took out an exquisite invitation and handed it to Victor, saying, "An invitation to Free King's succession ceremony."
Victor's body trembled.
He thought, 'What? An invitation?'
"Victor, you have an excellent grandson-in-law." The middle-aged man in the military uniform left this remark and turned to leave.
Victor looked at the invitation in his hand, momentarily stunned.
"Grandpa, what's wrong?" Julia came out.
"The Western Territory Army delivered an invitation," Victor said, feeling dazed.
"So soon? Grandpa, I wasn't lying to you. I told you, leave this to Luke. See, in such a short time, the Foster family succeeded and had the Western Territory Army personally deliver the invitation."
Luke came out and asked, "Julia, what's going on? Why are you so happy?"
"Honey, thank you." Julia kissed Luke on the cheek. "Thank you for getting the Foster family to secure an invitation for the Lewis family."
Luke was a bit confused.
He thought, 'The Foster family?
'I have indeed mentioned it to my dad, but he was still fretting over it, having sent numerous gifts to those big shots to get an invitation. Altogether, it has cost us a fortune.
'It is impossible that they have managed to secure an invitation for the Lewis family.'
He was bewildered but wore a smug expression and said, "For the Foster family, getting an invitation is a piece of cake."
"Luke, thank you, really thank you." Victor finally reacted, grinning from ear to ear.
The person who delivered the invitation said he had an excellent grandson-in-law.
He was sure it was Luke because, among his grandsons-in-law, Luke had the highest status.
Victor added, "Luke, come inside and sit. Later, I'll send a gift for you to take back to your dad to thank him for getting an invitation for the Lewis family."
