Chapter 473 I Want the Secret of Artwork of Moonlit
Richard had come here looking for the Fire Lotus, but instead, he stumbled upon a fire serpent teeming with powerful energy. The serpent's gallbladder was the ultimate elixir for Martial practitioners to boost their evolution levels.
However, Richard's strength had already peaked to the point where external aids couldn't enhance it any further.
Even the gallbladder of a century-old fire serpent wouldn't do much for him.
But for Chloe, it would be a game-changer.
One gallbladder could turn her into a formidable warrior of the third realm.
"Hey Richard, why'd you lure Larry here? Couldn't I just grab the Fire Lotus myself?" Chloe asked, confused.
She was aware of Richard's plan to lure Larry here.
Richard glanced at her and replied, "If you just took it back, how would you explain it? The timing isn't right yet. I don't want Larry to know I'm around, nor do I want others to start guessing."
"But Larry's already suspicious of you."
"That's exactly why I lured him here," Richard said with a faint smile. "Don't ask anymore. I've got it all planned out. By tomorrow morning, he should be here."
Chloe didn't press further.
She trusted that Richard wouldn't harm Larry and was secretly trying to help him.
As long as it benefited Larry, she wouldn't question it.
Meanwhile, Larry was on his way.
After getting out of the car, he and Paisley continued on foot. Luckily, they were both Martial practitioners, agile and much faster than cars when running.
They traveled through the night.
Morning.
The sun rose from the horizon, casting a warm glow in the sky.
After traveling all night, they were close to Mount Aragon.
At the foot of the mountain.
The two stopped.
Larry took out two bottles of water from his backpack, handed one to Paisley, opened the other, and looked at the barren mountain ahead. "This is Mount Aragon. I don't see any signs of people. Why'd they lure me here?"
Paisley took a sip of water and looked ahead. "Since we're here, let's go up and check it out."
"Yeah, that's all we can do."
Larry opened his backpack and took out some energy bars.
They ate some food at the foot of the mountain, rested to regain some strength, and then continued up the mountain.
The closer they got to the volcano, the higher the temperature. But as Martial practitioners, the heat didn't bother them much.
They soon reached the top.
Larry scanned the surroundings.
Ahead was a steep cliff with no path, but below the cliff was the entrance to a cave.
"There's nothing here?" Larry said, puzzled.
Paisley also looked around.
She noticed signs of human activity and pointed to a rock not far away. "Larry, look, there's a water bottle. Someone's been here."
Larry looked over and saw it too.
He walked over, picked up the water bottle, and checked it. The production date was a month ago, indicating it was recently discarded.
"Who's there?"
Paisley suddenly shouted and quickly chased after someone.
Larry followed closely.
They soon reached the cave entrance.
As they arrived, a wave of heat hit them.
Paisley said, "I saw someone go into the cave."
Without hesitation, Larry was about to enter.
Paisley grabbed him just in time. "What are you doing?"
"Of course, I'm going in. If someone's here, Chloe must be inside."
Larry was worried about Chloe's safety. The thought of her trapped in the hot underground cave made him anxious.
Paisley reminded him, "This is an active volcano. It could erupt at any time. It might be dangerous."
"We're already here. Danger or not, we have to go."
Larry walked straight into the cave.
Paisley, feeling helpless, followed him. Larry was clearly driven by love, recklessly going in without considering the risks.
The cave entrance wasn't large, but inside, it branched out in all directions.
The deeper they went, the higher the temperature.
Even as Martial practitioners, Larry and Paisley found it hard to bear.
They had to use their Qi to resist the heat, but even so, they were drenched in sweat, their clothes quickly soaked.
"So hot," Paisley said, fanning her face and tugging at her sweat-soaked clothes clinging to her skin.
Larry handed her a bottle of water. "Here, have some water..."
As he turned to hand her the water, he saw Paisley fanning her neckline and adjusting her bra strap.
Paisley blushed instantly and let go. "It's too hot. I'm drenched in sweat, and my bra is uncomfortable."
She reached out to take the water from Larry.
Larry, also embarrassed, turned to look ahead. "It's really too hot. This place is unbearable. If Chloe is really here, then..."
Larry didn't dare to imagine the consequences.
"Larry, you finally made it."
At that moment, a voice echoed.
The sound reverberated in the cave, making it hard to pinpoint its source.
Paisley pointed ahead. "It should be up there."
Larry quickly walked over.
Soon, they reached the edge of a cliff. Across the chasm was a large rock jutting out.
On the rock, two people were tied up with ropes.
One was an old man, the other a young woman.
Above them was a large opening, letting light in and illuminating the dark cave.
Below was boiling hot lava.
On the rock stood a figure in a black robe and mask.
The person was about 6 feet tall, with a wide robe, making it hard to tell if they were male or female.
Larry recognized the tied-up people.
The old man was the one who took Trinity, possibly Richard.
The young woman was Chloe.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Larry demanded, staring at the figure on the rock.
"Haha..."
A wild laugh echoed in the cave.
The robed figure laughed. "You don't need to know who I am."
Larry asked coldly, "What do you want?"
He also kept an eye on Chloe and the man who might be Richard.
They seemed unconscious, hanging by ropes that would drop them into the lava if they broke.
"I want the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit. Tell me the secret, or your grandfather and your wife will die without a trace," a raspy voice said.
At that moment, Richard woke up and shouted, "Larry, run! Get out of here! Don't tell him the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit. If he gets it, the world will be in chaos."
"Old man, you talk too much."
The masked figure snorted and flicked their hand, sending a force that snapped Richard's rope.
His body plummeted into the lava.
"No..."
Larry screamed in agony.
