Chapter 438 Artwork of Moonlit
                    Larry couldn't sleep that night.
He kept replaying everything that had happened recently in his mind.
The situation was so tangled that even he couldn't make sense of it. He had no clue what King was plotting or what the people backing Alistair were up to.
And now, a new player had entered the game: the Cabinet Room. What were they after?
The night passed quietly.
The next day.
Early in the morning, visitors started arriving at the Bennett family home.
First to show up were Mr. Nelson and King.
They had one goal: to find out what had happened the previous night and to gauge the Bennett family's position.
These were all seasoned players, and Cody was straightforward, saying that Larry had been left at the Bennett family's doorstep.
Mr. Nelson was even more puzzled by this.
He couldn't tell if Cody was being honest or not.
After seeing Mr. Nelson off, Mr. Strother arrived.
Next, people from the Powell family and two other families came one after another, all asking about the events of the previous night.
Cody's answers were consistent, deflecting everything cleanly and claiming that it had nothing to do with the Bennett family.
By noon, the Bennett family finally had some peace.
Larry had only fallen asleep just before dawn.
He was woken up.
As soon as he woke, he smelled something delicious.
He turned slightly and saw Paisley beside him.
Paisley said, "I made some chicken soup. You should have some."
After a night's rest, Larry felt much better. He struggled to sit up, propping himself up with a pillow.
Paisley brought the chicken soup over and fed Larry with a spoon.
As he ate, Larry asked, "What's going on today?"
Paisley replied, "What else? A bunch of big shots came to the Bennett family to question us, but Grandpa sent them all away. Now, it's just a matter of who makes the first move."
"Make a move?"
Larry was puzzled. "What do you mean by 'make a move'?"
Paisley rolled her eyes. "You call yourself the Black Dragon, the Dragon King, and you can't figure this out? They're going to come after you. You're the one who killed Alistair, the catalyst for all this chaos. Everyone's watching you, wanting to break the stalemate and stir things up again. Naturally, they'll target you."
Larry's expression grew serious.
He had anticipated this day.
Before killing Alistair, he had foreseen it.
That's why he had the Eight Heavenly Dragons secretly establish the Dragon Palace.
But he hadn't expected this day to come so quickly.
Paisley continued, "Grandpa saved you this time, but if someone comes after you again, he might not save you. If he keeps saving you, the Bennett family will be dragged into this mess and won't be able to get out unscathed."
"And the Cabinet Room?" Larry couldn't help but ask.
Paisley thought for a moment and said, "That's unclear. But from the current situation, the Cabinet Room is the one stirring the pot. They've achieved their goal. Whether you live or die, the Cabinet Room won't care. My guess is that the Powell family will be the ones to make a move against you."
Larry asked, "Why do you say that?"
Paisley explained, "You killed Alistair, and now the Cabinet Room has left you at the Bennett family's doorstep. Grandpa saved you, so the Powell family will suspect that the Bennett family is behind all this. They might think the Bennett family has obtained the box from Victor Veil's Tomb and unlocked the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit. They might believe the Bennett family is eager to get the remaining three pieces to complete the set and find a way to reach level 9."
"They won't just sit back. They'll retaliate. Killing you would send a clear message to the Bennett family that the Powell family means business."
Larry raised his hand weakly, rubbing his forehead.
It was all too chaotic.
At that moment, Cody walked in.
Paisley put down the bowl and stood up, calling out, "Grandpa."
"Yes," Cody responded.
He looked at Larry and said, "You look much better. Seems like you're recovering well."
Larry looked at the old man before him.
Technically, this was his grandfather, too.
But he was still confused about what had happened over the past thirty years.
Cody said, "Paisley should have told you. If they want to stir things up, they'll come after you, and the Bennett family can't protect you anymore."
Larry looked at Cody and said calmly, "I don't need the Bennett family's protection."
Cody chuckled, "You've got spirit, but in your current state, you can't protect yourself. Even if you weren't injured, with your unstable level 1 strength, killing you would be as easy as squashing an ant for them."
"But, since you're part of the Bennett family, I can't just do nothing. That would be a disgrace to the Bennett family name."
Larry looked at Cody, unsure of what he meant.
Cody ordered, "Take him to the secret room."
"Yes." Paisley nodded.
Cody turned and left.
Paisley went out and brought back a wheelchair, helping Larry into it.
Larry asked, "What's in the secret room?"
Paisley said, "Larry, this is your chance. But whether you can grasp it is up to you."
Larry was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Paisley explained, "You've seen the box from Victor Veil's Tomb. You've heard about it. The items inside can unlock the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit. Many in the Bennett family have seen the Artwork of Moonlit, but only you, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa have seen what's inside the box from Victor Veil's Tomb."
Larry stared at Paisley.
Paisley continued, "The rumors are true. The items from Victor Veil's Tomb can indeed unlock the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit. The Artwork of Moonlit contains the method to reach level 9. To put it simply, it hides a profound training method."
Larry understood. "So, I'm going to see the Artwork of Moonlit?"
Paisley smiled, "It's an honor. Very few in the Bennett family have that privilege. Grandpa hopes you can unlock its secrets."
With that, she pushed Larry forward.
The Bennett family estate was large.
In the backyard, there was a long corridor that wound its way deep into the property.
There was a rock garden in the backyard.
And the rock garden had a hidden mechanism.
Paisley activated the mechanism, revealing a passage. She pushed Larry into the passage and into an underground secret room.
The secret room was small, with copper walls all around.
At the front of the room hung a painting.
The scene in the painting was simple: a mountain, a flower, and a small wooden house.
Cody was already there.
He stood before the painting, hands behind his back, staring intently.
"Grandpa." Paisley pushed Larry forward and called out.
"Yes, you can leave now," Cody instructed.
Larry also stared at the painting on the wall.
Yes, it was the Artwork of Moonlit. He had seen it in his grandfather's study when he was a child.
Cody asked, "You should have seen this painting when you were young."
"Yes."
Larry nodded, "I saw it when I was a child. Grandpa often looked at it alone in his study."
"This is the Bennett family's heirloom, the Artwork of Moonlit," Cody said. "This painting dates back a thousand years."
