Chapter 280: The End

Larry quickly returned to Sunset City.

After arriving in Sunset City, he didn't go home immediately.

Instead, he took the many assassins he had recruited to a repair shop in the suburbs, which was the headquarter of the underground intelligence network.

In a secret chamber, deep underground in the repair shop.

Larry sat on the sofa.

The assassins he had recruited stood to the side.

Larry glanced over each of them.

Third on the assassin list, Fire Phoenix.

Fourth on the assassin list, Bloodstorm.

Fifth on the assassin list, Shadowblade.

Sixth on the assassin list, Ghost Assassin.

Seventh on the assassin list, Snow Wolf.

Ninth on the assassin list, Viper.

Tenth on the assassin list, Phantomface.

Among the top ten assassins, except for the deceased Cason and the number one assassin, he had recruited all the rest.

"Black Dragon, you promised us a billion dollars," Bloodstorm, ranked fourth on the assassin list, spoke up, asking about the billion dollars Larry had promised.

The others were also looking at Larry.

They chose to follow Larry because of the money.

If there was no money, they might not follow Larry even if it meant death.

Larry waved his hand slightly and said, "Don't worry. I have promised you, and I will definitely give it to you, but not now. Having too much money at once won't be of much use to you. How about this, I'll pay you a hundred million dollars first, and the rest will be paid up to you as monthly salaries, how does that sound?"

A billion dollars is no small amount.

A billion dollars each, totaling seven billion dollars.

Larry was reluctant to take out that much money all at once, since the Epoch Group was in need of money now.

"Black Dragon, are you deceiving us?"

Snow Wolf, ranked seventh, instantly got angry.

Snow Wolf, male, around forty years old, like a brute.

He immediately pointed his gun at Larry and said coldly, "If you don't give me a billion dollars today, I won't let it go."

Larry glanced at him, his face darkened, and with a raise of his hand, a silver needle flew out.

The silver needle accurately pierced Snow Wolf's wrist.

A sharp pain came from his wrist, and the gun in his hand fell to the ground.

Larry said coldly, "I said I would give it to you, and I will. Don't push your luck. I can save your lives, and I can also take it. A hundred million dollars is no small amount. Your families can't use that much, and following me, you won't have the chance to squander money."

Snow Wolf's face showed pain, and he stood aside without saying a word.

Larry looked at the others and asked again, "If anyone is dissatisfied, you can speak up. I'll give you the antidote, and you can leave. But whether you can leave Sunset City depends on your abilities."

The assassins remained silent, not saying a word.

"Since there are no objections, let's do it this way. Give me your accounts, and I'll transfer the money to you."

The assassins didn't dare to say more and obediently gave their accounts.

Larry was also very trustworthy, giving each of them a hundred million dollars.

After giving the money, he instructed, "Stay here for now, don't wander around. I'll find a way to get you legitimate identities."

"Okay."

The assassins nodded and left one after another.

After the assassins left, Larry let out a long sigh of relief.

"Larry," Valerian asked, "What do we do next?"

Larry thought for a moment and said, "Investigate everything about Alden. If I'm not mistaken, the number one assassin on the list is this Alden. Cason said this person has been amassing wealth for thirty years and is very rich. I need money now, and if I can get this money, that would be best."

"Okay."

"Also,"

Larry continued to instruct, "Keep an eye on Timeless Treasures Antiques. If there is any news about the box from Southwild Victor Veil's Tomb, notify me immediately."

"Okay."

"By the way, check the backgrounds of these assassins. If possible, bring their families to Sunset City, buy them houses, and find them jobs. Only if their families are in Sunset City will these assassins be obedient."

"I understand."

Valerian nodded.

After giving these instructions, Larry got up and left.

As soon as he walked out of the repair shop, a Jeep drove up. The car window rolled down, and Free showed his face, waving at Larry.

Larry walked over, opened the car door, and got in.

Free took out a cigarette and handed it over, asking, "Last night, you didn't get into any trouble, did you?"

Larry took the customized cigarette and smiled faintly, "If I had, would I still be standing here?"

"The Legion of Flame Surge was deployed," Free said with a serious expression. "Last night, some helicopters landed in Sunset City. The Legion of Flame Surge arrived and brought a prisoner. I don't know who it is, and since the Legion of Flame Surge has nationwide law enforcement privileges, I have no right to inquire."

"Alright."

Larry nodded, "I know, I've already met them. We almost engaged into a fight. If the Legion of Flame Surge hadn't identified themselves, my people would have killed them."

Free was taken aback.

Larry smiled faintly, "No need to be surprised. Alistair wants to kill me. He tried to use people from the Shadow Syndicate to do it. Cason from the Shadow Syndicate wanted to use me to exchange for Alden from the Shadow Syndicate. Alistair deceived Cason, I also deceived Cason and killed him."

Larry spoke nonchalantly, but Free was terrified by what he heard.

He asked, "Are you sure it's Alistair?"

Larry chuckled, "Who else but Alistair would have the authority to bring Alden out of prison, who was captured nationwide three years ago? Who else but Alistair could mobilize the Legion of Flame Surge?"

"Alistair wants to kill you. Does the highest leader of the Summer Nater know? Even though you're no longer Black Dragon, you have done great service for the country."

Larry waved his hand slightly, "Whether they know or not is no longer important. Perhaps this is also part of the highest leader's plan, to eliminate everything, including me."

Larry opened the car door and turned to leave.

Free was left deep in thought.

Larry's words had sounded an alarm to him.

It seemed that things were really about to get chaotic.

If the higher-ups wanted to take action against Black Dragon, he had to side with the highest leader of the United States. Otherwise, after everything was over, the highest leader would also retaliate against him because he was one of the Five Great Marshals and held significant power.

"By the way."

Larry stopped and looked at the contemplative Free, saying, "I've recruited a few assassins. Their identities must not be exposed. In fact, you could say they have no identities. Find a way to get them legitimate files."

"Alright."

Free snapped out of his thoughts and nodded, "No problem, leave it to me. Be careful from now on."

Larry laughed heartily, "I've been through more dangerous times before. These schemes are nothing. Don't worry, I can handle it. I'm off."

He waved to Free.

Larry got into another car and instructed the subordinates who had been waiting, "Take me back to the Lewis family."

After giving the order, he leaned back in the seat and closed his eyes to rest.

Before reaching the Lewis family, Lyra called.

"Larry, was everything doing okay?"

"Yes," Larry replied, "very much."

"What about Cason?"

"I killed him."

Larry didn't hide it, saying, "He was too cunning. It wasn't safe to keep him around."

At the Mortal Clinic, Lyra fell silent upon hearing this. After several seconds, she asked, "Can I have his body back?"

"I'm afraid that's not up to me. The battlefield was cleared by Alistair's Legion of Flame Surge, not my people. I've resigned now and have no authority to ask Alistair for a body."

"I understand." Lyra hung up the phone.

After hanging up, she started to cry.

She had grown up with Cason, trained together, and fought their way out together. Cason had always taken care of her, and now she couldn't even see him one last time.

Larry knew Lyra was very sad now.

After thinking for a moment, he sent her a message.

"Cason sent many assassins to Flamecrest, not just to capture me, but to kill you as well."
