Chapter 48 Comrade-valuing

Larry was momentarily lost in thought before he snapped back to reality.

He said, "When I arrived, you were already unconscious. I called the police, and the manager was arrested."

Larry, worried that Chloe might have psychological trauma, spoke lightly and kept comforting her.

Chloe was also very relieved.

She was glad she had read a lot and gained some knowledge, allowing her to sense something was wrong in advance.

Otherwise, she couldn't imagine the consequences.

"Let's go out to eat," Larry said, pulling her along.

Chloe kept nodding.

Larry had already prepared the meal while she was sleeping.

By the time it was mealtime, the Lewis family members who had gone out had returned.

They had gone to the supermarket and were discussing the drill as they entered the house.

"That scene was really grand, dozens of cars, so impressive," Maria said as she entered, still a bit shaken by what she had seen earlier.

Larry whispered, "Chloe, don't tell Mom and Dad about what happened earlier. I don't want them to worry."

Chloe nodded. Thankfully, nothing serious happened this time.

If they told her Mom and Dad, they would definitely be worried.

"Mom, why are you smiling? What drill?" Chloe stood up and took the things Maria was carrying.

Maria said, "This afternoon, outside the Ella Group, there was a joint drill by the military and police. A lot of people were involved. I heard even someone as important as Free King showed up. Unfortunately, when I got there, they were just leaving, so I didn't see the main event."

Chloe was stunned.

A drill outside the Ella Group?

She couldn't help but glance at Larry.

Larry shrugged and said, "I don't know about that. When I brought you back, I didn't see any joint drill by the military and police."

Chloe didn't think much of it.

Larry said, "The meal is ready. We were just waiting for you to come back and eat."

The family entered the house.

Larry went to get the utensils.

During the meal.

Mindy spat out the food she had eaten onto the table and angrily scolded, "Larry, are you trying to burn my mouth off? Don't you know I can't eat too spicy lately? Why did you put so many chili peppers?"

Maria suddenly put down her fork and said, "Then who don't you cook! Larry made the meal and waited for us to come back and eat. You have no right to be so picky."

Sam quickly pulled Mindy back.

"Mom..." Mindy said, almost in tears. Maria used to dote on her, but now she was siding with Larry.

"I'll put less chili next time," Larry apologized.

He didn't want to strain the relationship too much, as it would only make things difficult for Chloe.

"If you don't like it spicy, go eat out!" Maria picked up a fork, speared a piece of meat, and handed it to Larry with a smile.

She added, "Larry, today I visited some streets and found a few good storefronts at reasonable prices. The money we have is enough to open a clinic. Once the clinic opens, we can use Chloe for advertising. If she can restore her appearance, it will definitely attract a lot of people, and business will surely be booming."

Larry looked helpless. He really didn't want to open a clinic.

If the news of the clinic reached Aurora Citadel, those big shots would definitely line up, and he would be swamped!

Right now, he just wanted to stay by Chloe's side and live a quiet life.

He said, "Let's talk about it later. Didn't Sam want to buy a car? Let's use the money to buy him a car. Even if we want to open a clinic, I've saved some money over the years, and it's enough."

Hearing this, Sam beamed with joy and quickly said, "Mom, Larry is right. Let's get a new car first, a luxury car. It should start at least at 100 thousand dollars to look good."

Since Larry spoke up for Sam, Sam stopped calling him bastard and started calling him Larry.

Larry nodded. "Right, we're not short on money. By the way, Chloe seems to be very interested in fashion design. How about we don't open a clinic and start a fashion company instead? The Trade Center is about to open for business. I can use my connections to rent an entire floor as the company headquarters at the lowest price."

Chloe quickly pulled Larry and said, "What are you talking about? I heard the Trade Center is going to be a world financial center. The rent is very high, and the entry fees are enormous. Do you know how much it costs to start a company? We don't have any connections or money to start a company."

Larry smiled. "I'll figure out the money part. We can take out a loan or borrow. As long as you like it, I'll support you. Do you know the Imperial Residence? The place I took you to last time? To be honest, the owner of the Imperial Residence is my comrade. We went through life and death together. He got promoted quickly and is now very high-ranking, while I'm just a low-ranking soldier. If I ask my friend, these things won't be a problem."

"What? Is the owner of the Imperial Residence your friend?" Maria's eyes widened.

The Imperial Residence was the most luxurious villa in Sunset City, covering five acres, opulent and extravagant.

The identity of the owner of the Imperial Residence had always been a mystery. But it was said that money alone couldn't buy a place in the Imperial Residence.

Larry nodded. "Yes, we were comrades. He's currently abroad on business and temporarily left the Imperial Residence to me. Chloe, I plan to hold a wedding for you at the Imperial Residence. I want to make you the happiest bride in the world."

"Alright..."

Before Chloe could respond, Maria burst into laughter. "Do it, hold it at the Imperial Residence. Do it as soon as possible, on Victor's birthday. I heard Victor spent millions to book an entire floor of the Sunset City Hotel for his 80th birthday party. We'll hold the wedding on the same day at the most luxurious and extravagant Imperial Residence in all of Sunset City, just to outshine that show-off Victor."

She was so happy she couldn't stop smiling.

She thought, 'Although the Imperial Residence isn't Larry's, he has connections to hold a wedding there.

'If it gets out, it willdignify us.'

Sam, a bit skeptical of Larry's words, couldn't help but ask, "Larry, are you kidding? The Imperial Residence you're talking about, is it the one in Scenic Villas? The one that covers five acres, the most luxurious and extravagant in all of Sunset City, rumored to be worth over 300 million dollars?"

Larry nodded. "Yes, Chloe has been there. It's that one."

Sam said, "Larry, do you really pull strings like that? Who is your comrade?"

Larry smiled. "I served in Southwild. Back then, there was another person who went to Southwild with me, and that was Black Dragon, the commander of the Southwild forces, leading the million-strong Black Dragon Army, on par with Free King. The Imperial Residence belongs to Black Dragon. He takes good care of me and let me stay at the Imperial Residence temporarily."

"Such a braggart." Sam lost interest immediately, completely disbelieving Larry.

Chloe also didn't believe it. "You're such a braggart. If you knew Black Dragon and he took care of you, you wouldn't be so broke, even asking me for cigarette money."

"Exactly," Mindy said with disdain, "Do you know what people are saying about you outside? They say you used your boss's connections to borrow a car to show off, and when the owner comes back, both your boss and you will be in big trouble."

Chloe had heard these rumors too.

Now she was a bit worried and couldn't help but ask, "Larry, is it really like the rumors say? When the big shot comes back, will you face legal consequences?"

Larry felt helpless.

No one believed him when he said he was once comrades with Black Dragon.

If he said he was Black Dragon, that would be much more impossible for them to believe him.

Since they didn't believe him, he decided to keep it a secret for now.

He scratched his head and said, "At most, I'll have to write a self-criticism. It's not that serious. Besides, I served in the military for ten years and once saved my boss. My boss has good connections. It's just borrowing a car, not a big crime."

Maria sighed in relief, patting her chest. "As long as it's okay. By the way, is it really possible to hold the wedding at the Imperial Residence? There won't be any issues, right?"

Larry confidently said, "Absolutely reliable. The Imperial Residence is Black Dragon's place. Black Dragon is currently abroad on business and won't be back for a while. And I really do know Black Dragon. Eight years ago, we even carried out missions together. Although it's been many years, Black Dragon values his comrades the most. As long as his subordinates have a need an it's not too excessive, he will agree. If you don't believe me, go ask around. Isn't Black Dragon known as the most comrade-valuing and subordinate-caring among the Five Great Marshals?"

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Harry's family appeared at the door with a new share transfer contract.
